Deeply depressing to think people would travel all the way to Greece just to stay in this commercialised resort. It could literally be anywhere and you wouldn’t know the difference. One thing you could be sure of though is, it isn’t “Greece”, just more of the the same built up, copycat properties that can be found all over the globe. If you’re going to visit Greece then please please do it properly! You could be staying in our traditional villas/apartments that have been in our families for generations, that have picturesque, private gardens with stunning views and a friendly maid who will always be willing to help you out with anything you might need. Dine in our tavernas, family run beach bars, lap up the sun on our loungers and play with our beach toys. Make use of our excursions. Dine out on our homemade cuisine, using homegrown ingredients or locally sourced, such as dolmades, moussaka, baklava & fish that we’ve been out in the ocean to catch that very day, 4.30am, and it’s on your plate just a few hours later. Meet and mingle with the locals, I promise you you’ll leave with numerous friends, a real taste of Greek life & better still you’ll spend less than half the cost of this “resort”. You have no idea how much you’d be helping us out in the process or how much we’d appreciate you. A huge proportion of these commercialised properties and highly touristy areas aren’t owned by Greeks anymore, the revenue is all going over seas to American owners and alike. Few Greeks people could afford to build on these grand scales or quite frankly would ever want to spoil the area with such monstrosities. Sorry to go on, on your skilfully shot and edited film only these places are killing us off and tourists don’t stop and consider the bigger picture, they just see the glossy pictures in a brochure and there’s so much more out there. As far as your work goes you’re incredibly talented behind the camera. Thank you for visiting.
I agree with you but all these resorts now offer all-inclusive which are killing off the local man and the taverns. Greece is a beautiful country but it is changing, corporate companies own these mega resorts and take all the money for themselves.
