- As tributes pour in for late legendary singer-songwriter Jimmy Buffett, a South Florida dermatologist is shedding light on the rare, aggressive skin cancer that took the life of the “Margaritaville” singer.
Jimmy Buffett chose joy and gave us joy. We shouldn't wonder where he is. RIP sir.
RIP Jimmy. Thanks for sharing your music. You not being around anymore is a huge, sad loss. Smooth sailing now, no more pain
I thank the doctor for his report. My Mother had merkel cell cancer when she was 80. It was hard to explain to others as no one had heard of it. She had a one year prognosis, lived another 11 even with it metasticizing to lymph nodes and then to her stomach. Cancer is cancer no matter how it presents. No type is to be trifled with. She took a supplement daily that i believe, and I think even the oncologist believed contributed to her longevity. She was not a sun worshipper but was a lifelong smoker. Comes down to who knows why one person's journey is what it is. We believe it returned to finally take her when she was 91 but we weren't willing to subject her to heroic treatments. 76 is young and I'm so sorry his journey ended so soon.
what was the supplement she took
He had a wonderful life &
Shared his talent with us!
R.I.P. Jimmy Buffett! 🙏🕊️
Dude died a BILLIONAIRE, Just goes to show having all the money in the world cannot buy you health. RIP JB and thanks for all the good vibes and tunes! Have some cheeseburgers and ritas in Paradise for me.🇺🇸🍻✌🏻
Even in Canada with great oversight and essentially free medical (go get your checkups) I've lost three people, one under forty, to aggressive cancers. Cancer can be unique to every person. One lady never smoked, lost her under forty years: upper pallet cancer. Gone in six weeks. Friend who overcame one cancer got bone cancer and was gone in three weeks. Media rarely covers agg. cancers because you just don't have the TIME you need to intercede. Jimmy lived his life to the full, stayed married to the same love, and gave up music that was fun fun fun. Can't say enough good things about him.
Excellent comment, thank you. Seems like the best of us leave far too soon, while some of the worst hang around far too long. Jimmy's death hit me hard since I'm over 50 and spend a lot of time in the sun. I'll be more vigilant about annual skin cancer exams but you bring up an important point about aggressive cancer in general. It's wicked..... acts so fast. But there's some recent developments in medical science that may help us get ahead of this deadly form of cancer, e.g., genetic screening. Maybe the next generation will finally beat this horrible disease.
He'll be with us forever, mostley cause of his music, but he was a genuinely a nice man. RIP Jimmy.
Wow I had absolutely no idea there was this type of skin cancer how truly sad like Jimmy Buffett music so much I saw him in California twice truly a very fun and laid-back man my condolences for his wife and three children family and friends as well and Fans around the world 🙏🙏🌹😢⭐❣️❣️
"Do what you love and let it kill you" - Charles Bukowski
That's what I mean. .love the beach love the sun. I cover up as much as I can and apply as much sunscreen as I can since I had a squamous removed but I'm out there swimming and surfing at 67. You gotta enjoy life...RIP Jimmy Buffett
Just try to get an appointment to see a dermatolgist I been waiting six moths so far!
I can't get in until mid 2024. More and more people will be dying of skin cancer because of the wait periods to see a dermatologist.
Stop using sunscreen as the chemicals in them have been linked with skin cancer. Yep. And a good friend of mine who never goes outside unless she slathers number 50 on her, was diagnosed with skin cancer. The sun has never hit her Lily white skin.
But she’s a smoker which weakens your immune system.
We are so lucky to have the best healthcare system in the world. Aren’t we glad?
Keep voting for Republicans idiots you'll never have healthcare.
Thank you!! I loved your music.its a pick me up in a world that's so wrong these days!! Condolences to your family R&B
So sad! To think how he passed away, from the place he loved the most, The Beach Sun ⛱️ 😢
Not the sun directly. But a weakened immune system that breaks down healthy cells. You can get skin cancer and never have gotten in the sun. My neighbor got skin cancer on her butt. She never was a sunbather let alone a nude sunbather. But she was a smoker and ate like crap.
The sun is not your friend.
He loved the sun for sure. Sad to see him go.
I feel more comfortable now with the Doctor's analysis after having it peer-reviewed by the reporter.
“small red bumps on the skin”…. but there’s also a very benign red bump that many people have. It’s so hard to know what’s safe and what’s not, hence the annual checkup I suppose.
RIP JIMMY BUFFETT. I MET U IN ASPEN EITH JOHN DENVER HANNAH MEDWIN LAS VEGAS NV RIP BOTH OF U
Rest in peace, maestro. Gracias!
RIP JIMMY Thanks for sharing your life and your special music. I was at Red Rocks in 77, what a fantastic show.
I grew up listening to Jimmy Buffet, listened to his music over the years spending time with my buddy Jay, shooting pool with Jimmy on the CD player. Went to Irvine Meadows in 1998 to his concert, don’t remember much of it though! Rest In Peace Jimmy, you made many people happy and your music always will. 👍
heartbreaking
😢 this sucks memories last a while legend live forever
So sad prayers for his family and friends🙏🏻❤️☮️✝️🌹🎉🇺🇸
RIP Jimmy Buffett. You will be missed.
JB....RIP
Thank Dr. Have had two in face of the first type.
Jimmy Buffett was a national treasure. RIP Jimmy, you'll be missed forever. Fly high sweet angel, you've surely earned your wings.
Not was, is still a national treasure.
Everyone has an expiration date.
He lived his life fully! I'm sure with no regrets.
I have had one case of Merkel cell in my GP career and it makes melanoma seem like a sissie.
Cheeseburgers in paradise
I am a DNR. My wish in this world right now. My 'Golden Ticket.'
That young reporter was not very good in terms of his tone. He was talking like he was giving a sports report instead of a tragic passing of someone from a rare, aggressive cancer.
😞😖
Yes like a car sales guy
The newscaster guy is cute but he thinks the story is about him.
It's not.
It's about a deadly skin cancer.
All newscasters have egos. You're dead in the water if you don't. I don't see anything about his presentation that detracts from the story.
RIP Jimmy, at least he didn't die like most of the entertainer's drug or alcohol overdose.
Wouldn't it be something if they finally realize that it's actually sunscreen that causes skin cancer?
Most do. It’s all the chemicals in them that soak into our skin. I know a lady now with skin cancer and she NEVER went out in the sun and the rare times she was pool side (in the shade) she slathered up everywhere that sunscreen. And I know another lady who got skin cancer on her butt. Not only was she not a sun bather but she was also not a NUDE sunbather. But what they both had in common was that they are smokers and eat like crap. 😫🤪
Rare but highly curable unless it reaches the lymph nodes.
I used to think skin cancer was nothing until a cashier at a local store near my house died recently of skin cancer. He was a good, friendly guy in his 70s and one day he just did not show up at his shop's counter. He used to tell him that the 'skin cancer' had gone into other parts of his body. I honestly didnt think that was a problem--I was ignorant. RIP to him and others like him. I hope someone finds one cure for all cancers!!
@@meengla I lost an older mentally retarded brother to melanoma. He wouldn't have understood treatment and the results were not good at the time so no treatment was sought. My other brother and I took turns caring for him until the very moment he passed. It took approximately 5 months from the moment I caught it until he passed. One of the hardest things I've ever done in my life back when hospice was 1st starting up. I had to give him his pain injections and everything even after he lost any ability to communicate pain, the poor thing. At least we did our best and he's free of this world

Prevention is key. And it all goes to our immune system. If you smoke, drink alcohol, eat fried foods, too much sugar, etc, you are risking your life and weakening your immune system and your healthy cells will break down.
@@cjhoward409 I think you are correct. Except to many people, including me, take too much chance with fate: I drink very copiously, and sleep very little, on top of a stressful life. And I sun myself a lot in Spring, Fall and Winter, here in the American South. Why so? Because I think I have probably 'internalized' the 'exceptions' as 'rules': Some live risky lives and make into their very old ripe ages...
fully jabbed
To many cheese burgers
no
He sat in the sunshine with his margarita too Long. 😊❤
🦠💉🤔
🧂🍹
Go get your booster folks!
Done. Thank you for the reminder though.
Eat sheit before I ever get the poisoned jab.
For what?
I really don't care I did not know him at all. I lost friends and family to cancers those were the ones I was sad about. He might have had millions but one thing you can't buy is life.
Edgy
By 2050 2 out of 3 people will die from some kind of cancer.
Okaaay
Rude, simply get a life. Each one matters to somebody.
I was more sad to learn a guy I've been spending money on since the 70's was a left loon politically and raised money for H. Clinton in 16. Now, THAT'S sad.
Is it also possible his immune system was extremely suppressed from being overly jabbed? It’s been proven this happens. He made no bones about it and was all in in the shots
Overly jabbed with what? I don't understand.
It seems a lot more plausible that he spent a lot of time in the sun.
Yep. It weakens our immune system along with an unhealthy life of smoking, drinking , poor eating habits. I had a friend who found out she got blood cancer about 2-3 weeks after getting a third jab. Hmmm.
@@cjhoward409correlation does not equal causation ✌🏼
Buffet got cancer 2 yrs. before covid began.
He drank to much
Too not to!
@@kayforty2731Gotcha Kay!! Too not to… Too not to Kay Got it Kay!🎉
Who are you to say such a thing. He quit drinking 30 years ago.
gawd all you people
@@annreiter284 What exactly is gawd all you people, not sure I’m familiar with that Ann.
Too much politics, stick to singing
All the money and still
He always had a perpetual pirate tan which killed him. He thought sunblock was bad for him image. It took his life. He looked at his fans as a profit center and continued to fleece and rip them off at every opportunity. His legacy is consumerism not artistry. He was always out for a buck. Bad guy
Entitled to your opinion I guess but wow you're rough stuff. If you read up on Jimmy he was a philanthropist too, doing gigs for hurricane relief etc. He might have made a lot of money but he appeared to be a nice guy. Also remember he was from the era when we used to bake ourselves in suntan oil which they don't sell anymore. Was only later sunblock was recommended.
The man died and he brought happiness into a lot of our lives with his music. RIP Jimmy
All that money and taken down by skin cancer, what a laugh
Get your booster here.
My dear friend with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma got a bone marrow transplant and things were looking good after his 100 days, then when he got his booster, it as if he had not had the bone marrow transplant. Back to square one. 🥲
Jimmy was worth a Billion dollars follow the Money LOL
Give me a Brake with this Check his heart and blood clots A jewish docter from boca raton LOL
