    About me:
My name is Mike and I am a hobbyist watchmaker. I am completely self-taught in watch repair and restoration. My channel is all about my journey of hobbyist of watchmaking. I have watch repair tutorials, watch restorations and watch repair videos. Some of my content you can easily follow along to if you are working on the same watch movement. My main focus is to document my journey and inspire more people into this wonderful hobby and demonstrate that this hobby can be very rewarding. I do not profess to be a professional watchmaker and in my videos, I show all my mistakes, mishaps, highs and lows and keep everything as honest as possible. It is easy to edit all the mistakes out and make my videos look perfect but I believe that keeping it real reflects the true reality of this hobby. So what are you waiting for? please check out my watch repair and restoration videos, get inspired and start your own watchmaking journey.

    Hi Mike,
I really loved this video for so many reasons. I make the same mistake with the keyless all the time-forgetting the order of things and having to redo the work. It’s always good for a laugh.
But the part about remembering our loved ones-I hope it is comforting knowing your parents are with our Lord and continue to be proud of all your accomplishments. Deeply personal items like watches are among the only things left behind by our loved ones that we can continue to connect with on a daily basis. Good on you for getting this running again, and I bet the owner is thrilled with the job you’ve done.
    Wishing you the best,
    Chris

A very apt tribute video, to feature your colleague's father's watch.
It's not too ostentatious for a gold-plated dress watch, something that he could and presumably did wear all the time. It's fortunate that whatever the water ingress into the stem was, it didn't get any further.

My father passed a few years back, and while I still have my mom, the loss of a parent is absolutely devastating, and especially to lose both your parents in such a short time span 😢. There are odd parallels in this in world, and I find myself experiencing one of those right now. I started my journey down the horological rabbit hole when I found myself in the place of becoming a care giver for my aging parents. That has been a challenge that is greater than anything I've yet faced, and your channel and your content has been of huge comfort during my hardest times. My heart goes out to you. Great save there Mike. The watch looks fantastic. And yes, sometimes we call them a win even though they don't run perfect. Btw, I think the caseback was not seated properly. May have been the angle of the shot when you rotated it though. Always great to watch your vids. I like that you tell the story of the watch and brand, bring an extra dimension to the usual 'strip and clean' content of most channels.

Thanks David. I was blessed with 51 years with them and envious of my older brothers 60 years! for them to go so quickly and close time wise was a shocker but it was relatively quick. All I would say is make time to see yours, return the missed calls etc. get them to tell you their history, people in photos etc. My father wrote his biography right up to leaving the RAF and then it stops! he never wrote about any of us. I always said I would film my parents and do an interview with them given their poor start in life sadly never got around to it and it would have been nice to preserve that history in video format for future generations.

Lamento mucho la pérdida de tus padres y te mando mis más sentidas condolencias. Es un trago amargo difícil de pasar que en mi caso también ya partieron ambos y se lo difícil que es.
Un fuerte abrazo desde Puebla México.

condolences mate, I know how it feels to lose both parents so closely together. Even when we know it's coming, and we think we are prepared, it still hits like a truck. Take care and all the best to you and your family.

Very sorry to hear about the passing of your parents Michael. I'd love you to try and repair a watch I have. I haven't worn it for years. It's my favourite watch of all time. I took it to a jeweller who couldn't help. Basically the crown has become detached from the rod. I live near Wigan in Lancashire.

Thanks Darren. I wanted to help my colleague as I had sympathy for him in January. Little did I know how that would then play out for me. Was a nice job this one and another watch saved.

So sorry to hear that. I mean your parents died. My father died twenty five years ago and my mother is ninety. I hope she will stay forever. Which she of course will not. Hopefully a couple of years from now. Nice touch according to the crown. I mean because this was the part he touched. :) 🕐⚙️🍸

Hi Mike, Sorry to hear about your parents, I'm sure they'll have been very proud of you. I found your channel because I recently lost my father and amongst some of the things he left me was a Seiko watch. That got me into watching videos on Seiko's and I came across your channel and now I'm addicted, I've binged watched hours and hours. Unfortunately the watch wont fit around my wrist and the correct strap doesn't seem to be available anymore and fitting a generic strap onto it just wouldn't seem right somehow. Thank you for the content.

Thank you for watching so much. You can get what are called bracelet extenders which are cheap and might give you enough length to make it fix

When faced with irregular shaped parts, file a notch into the faces of some plastic tweezers and use that to gain purchase on the part.

I am curious if Polident in distilled water would clean some of the debris. I have a ultrasonic cleaner ordered today to do some cleaning of parts. Another type of solvent is PB Blaster but it may be to harsh on the parts because they are more delicate than the car parts that I will use the product on but it does work to loosen old stuck parts.
