Aside from dressing up as Bulk Hogan (lol), he really wasn't able to do anything outside of his jokes, that's why he looked flat in this one.

Alan's style seems to be most effective when his jokes rely on shocking, self-deprecating humour. His often serious, dry delivery comes off as somewhat mean-spirited when someone else is the butt of a joke.
What comes off as goofy and playful by Matt, Sath or Andrew - who giggle their way through delivery, carries more bite when served in Alan's monotone voice.
Seth's joke that made me laugh was the one about the car accident - good use of misdirection humour. Alan got me with the blood bank/sperm bank - that delivery was so over the top of him, even he couldn't keep a straight face.
True, but I think Alan's a roaster, which is why he has that delivery. It makes a lot of dad jokes seriously unfunny, but the deadpan roasts are absolutely hilarious bc of how mean-spirited sounding they are. I think it entirely depends on how much you enjoy a good roast with how funny it is.
