The overall serialized story is fine though not the greatest, it lacks the number of episodes it needs to flesh out the characters. The "episodic" episodes are needed To portray the gradual growth of the characters more naturally along with variety of stories instead of just the main plot. Which is what the show feels like so the world around it isn't something we get to explore much. I'm also pretty surprised that there arent many suited action sequences since the seasons that Ryuga is in usually has more of those.
Also Souma's rushed character development is similar to Akito in Trigger☠️

It’s definitely more a Ginga type of season with how it’s almost low budget and playing it safe because it’s the first season after a hiatus. The core of this season is really more the actual characters more so than the plot kind of, if that makes sense, but it’s done gradually throughout the season.
Even though I would’ve like to see more of some things (seductress that just disappears for a while, Zango in action, the three Angora knights), I think that the plot ultimately paid off in the end thematically at least. Even I found the final battle to be a bit lacklustre but they laid off things that they had been building up to so it still worked.
Maybe it’s a season better binged all at once than seen weekly, but I still had fun with it.
Interesting, it doesn't really feel like a low budget show, the practical effects are pretty high quality, but they already had a final battle?
@@rooftoku well yeah, I only say low budget comparatively because while the fight scenes are peak, they’re few and far between. The whole thing was only 12 episodes too. They definitely spent their money well though when they did.
Oh damn, I didn't know that, no wonder why it felt a bit rushed to me, I thought they would've made it 25 episodes
