Thanks! The socket size for this model is in fact 11/16.
Dull mower to sharp in ten minutes.

Oh hell yeah, this settles it for me. Selling the gas mower I'm about to end up having to look after so I can get a cheap used reel mower-and sharpen it.

Exchange the left/right inner gears and push the mower backward on concrete surface.

Yes you can go that route as well. I prefer my method though. But both are effective. Thanks for watching. And thanks for sharing your method. Please like and subscribe

I got an old 18" Yardworks for $20. The blade edges were well worn. Back lapping would take too much effort and I don't want to spend money to have it re-grind on the lathe. So I use file to sharpen the blades to small angle bevel and convert it to non-contact type. The mower is easier to push; the reel rotates at faster speed and cut grass with speed like a weed trimmer.

Interesting putting a socket over the metal pin. I tried to make an adapter with hose but it did not work. What size socket was that please?

I want to say 11/16. But I could be wrong. I didn’t make not of that. Your best bet is to put a socket over it and check the fit then use the one that’s best. Thanks for watching. Please like and subscribe

I really appreciate this video. My Yardworks 18" reel mower (purchased 2021) has a clip that is almost a full circle (as opposed to an E clip). Any advice on how to get this off? I just seem to keep pushing it around in circles. Cheers.

Glad you enjoyed the video. Those clips are fairly flexible so if you take two pairs of needle nose pliers and hold one end still while you pull the other end out. just pull it enough to lift it out of the groove then pull it towards you. Also on both ends of the clip you may see two small holes. If there are holes you can buy a tool called a spring removal pliers. You can insert the pliers into the holes and squeeze and it will stretch the clip for easy removal. They cost about $20. Hope this helps. Please like and subscribe

    Here's a question for you :)
Can one use a metal file for cleaning up the blades? That compound vs a metal file, to me, zero difference :)
But I could be wrong :)

A metal file is not advised. You may create a low spot if you don’t file it perfectly even pressure across the whole length of the blade in each pass. The compound or a sharpening kit are the advised methods to keep the blades evenly sharp. Hopefully this was helpful. Please like and subscribe
