That Giger artwork is unmistakable. The second I saw it I knew it was the same dude who did Brain Salad Surgery and Aliens.
+Progger_Frogger Very true...Not too many people are as dark as H.R....His work is surreal!
H R Giger is an amazing artist ,dark, yet deeply psychedelic, it is interesting to compare his work with other "psychedelic" and visionary painters like his friend Bob Venosa, who in some ways seems like he expresses a vision of light that is complimentary and balances the darkness in Gigers work, also Mati Klarwein who did the Abraxas and Bitches brew covers, he was a teacher to Venosa. Also check out Ernst Fuchs
Whoa! I never knew Giger did the artwork for Brain Salad Surgery! I guess, looking back at it now, it's obvious.
also check the cover of attahk of magma
He also did the cover artwork for the Magma album Attahk.
Love it when an album sounds like it looks. Incredible! R.I.P. H.R. Giger.
I consider this album best kept secret in modern music history . Hat off .
Absolute amazing recording the dynamics are extraordinary .I figured with Geiger's Art it's going to be a ride into the nether world. Early Gentle Giant, Happy The Man, Vandergraff, Magma, Bruford RIO, Yet thier their own voice. What's cool about this kind of music it has little connection to a specific time. This sounds like music that would accompany a modern dance company in 2023.! This is pure musical art, with 0 chance for a commercial audience. Art for Arts sake in truck loads.
One of the most technical, well-thought, and insanely performed albums ever.
Thank you for this highly informative post.

Atrajo mi atención el trabajo de HR GIGER Y FUE VRANDIOSO descubrimiento
I’m an old prog snob and damn if I didn’t miss this one. Extra swell. Many thank you’s 🎉🎉🎉
This is one of the nice parts of CZcams where the "Up Next" function can send you deeper down the rabbit hole than you could ever believe.
テクニック、前衛度が聴くものを魅了する作品ですよね。
This record.... I just can't get over it. It's so special.
The music and the cover have Brain Salad Surgery vibes. Love it.
The cover is made by the same artist H.R Giger
Definitely one of the darker prog albums I've heard thus far, a more twisted version of ELP but with all the complexity and creativity that comes from the latter. The introduction song alone is enough to ground you into the music, especially when the backmasked sentences at the beginning are "Never trust a serpent". A detail many might not notice very easily.

one of the best gems in history
It's interesting that you chose the word _gems_ because I saved this to a playlist I named _Gems._
@@darrenstansbury4433 I wish I knew which are the others gems ;)
I got another gem, quite different from this LP but equally progressive and awesome. The album is WEIDORJE, a selftitled release. Fantastic band, they have one great live video here on YT.
Was just listening to gentle giant interview album. then this came up. Oh my goodness. Love it. My collection just got bigger.😁👍
It's a shame that lots of brilliant albums like this one are unknown
Love from Italy ♥️
This is dark Gentle Giant
Awesome definition
If Gentle Giant were a Canterbury-based band who happened to love Black Sabbath while frequently touring together with ELP, this could be the result.
@@GuyWhoLikesTheSnarkies1435 idk seems a bit more grim than those.
@@WocklessGamingforAnimeMoms yup
Agree 100%...
Incredible very creative Swiss Prog Band !!!!!!
This is one of the more pleasant surprises I've found lately. A thoroughly enjoyable album.
great album! and great drummer.
One of the most original things I've ever heard. Totally unique. Thanks for downloading!
Yep, I feel the same way.
@@terryclouse1461 Island is like the "evil" twin of Happy The Man.
Listen to museo rosenbach
@@Tintop Fantastic analogy.
It's pretty similar to VDGG.
Great Progressive Rock...Masters !...
Great album and beauty artwork the cover is fantastic the first alien before that got out at the movie
I hear it for the first time, but am definitely going to listen more often as this music undoubtedly has to grow on you. Love the percussion with the multi-level syncopation.

ISLAND !!! Incredible swiss prog rock band !!! Amazing sound !!! Very creative music !!!
This Band and this album are already A CULT (and the followers of PICTURES seem to be nice & intelligent people). Thank you very much for the music !
Great ecletic/prog .Thanks
PROGSWITZ
this IS PROG
Vocalist here is the same dude from Toad. Awesome.
Those who follow path of Island know well that through their music these musicians express the violent rejection like a vomit, of a world where nothing is worth living because it does not remain any more the spark of purity. A world of ashes where souls of ashes roam. So, the sooty men go among these shadows, fist brandished, scream their warning and their unshakeable faith in a mythical elsewhere. This band is here waiting. A steel mirror which does not reflect their future. Thank Lord for having inspired me this glossy but hollow and redundant text !
Great comment, really ! TX

The musicianship is incredible!
The seventies! Some prog bands even dared to do it without any guitar (like this band, Island). There are some other amazing examples, some very well known, and listeners here can probably think of some. This band is terrific! This is the first time I've listened to them.
Greenslade for their first two albums did this, although, I wouldn't say its on-par wiith this band's work, but it has some great moments especially when they feed the keyboards through distortion >:)
Van Der Graaf Generator comes to mind
@@Freeskiingisdabest hi prog rock fan yes exactly what I thought
a hidden, dark jewel.
Rock Progresivo, muy creativo. Influencias de Gente Giant y VDGG. El bajo y el bajo de pedales!!! Sorprendentes!!!
Brilliant record thank you!!!.
Wonderful way to start the day!!!.
A really interesting sound. I bought this on CD maybe 15 years ago and listened to it once - it just didn't work for me. However, now it's actually coming together as an interesting combination of Chamber Rock, Canterbury and what it would sound like if ELP had been a Zeuhl band.
interesting thoughts
Combination of: ELP, Gentle Giant & Van Der Graaf Generator!
It's amazing how much unknown prog there is out there. This is one fine example of it.
Incredible!!!.
Capolavoro!
DAMN youre turningme on and reminding on to so much today. Just letting it roll
Definitely a keeper. More progressive rock than jazz.
I swear people will call something jazz just because it has a saxophone in it.
Just heard this album for the first time love it from a love of elp.
1st track,daaaaaaaaaaaamn....like soundtrack froam alien
finally, took me at the very east 8 months, probably more like a year or two, but i'm finally able to appreciate them, and it wasn't forced in the least, i just came to check back on this albume every X months and now i finally can appreciate all of its musical nuances.(even if i'm far from understanding them, barely knowing what they are)
Todos músicos são excelentes profissionais grande teclado e batera baixo e guitarra
Like Vdgg & Gentle Giant 😍
Brings a bit of Hocus Pocus back to me; I am sooooooooo weird!!!.
Wow...constantly amazed by these little-known (or even unknown) prog efforts that were/are fairly decent. Usually one-offs, but still often quite good. Thanks for posting. Will be buying this...
ProckGnosis I'm subscribed to your channel for your great synth demos. Funny seeing your comment on this album.
@@devongestrin7512 Same.
Well good Swiss Prog Rock and from the best decade too. Well surprised the singer sang in English too. One very tasty bunch of musos and a really great album and must for my collection I feel. Awesome post.
RIP Giger!
Very cool stuff. Instrumentally, there are moments that remind me of Univers Zero (had they been more influenced by jazz and Zappa.) and the percussion is fantastic.
This band took great advantage of having a drummer-percussionist and a singer-percussionist in its ranks, just like Cathedral and Tales-era Yes.
Utterly brilliant, thank you, Island!!!.
Just Little Magma/ Soft Machine/Gong remiscents,very,very,very intriguing
Fanfastic, Very powerfull instrumental and original arrangements.
There are so many amazing albums from the 70s - truly amazing music. You'd like to buy them all but you can't, so what do you do? Anyone heard Gnidrolog's first album - wow?
Salute to the all earlier human brethren. Music creativity was beautiful. Rock to prog. R&b to funk. Jazz to Classical
Perfect amazing super album! /Czech fan./
This doesn’t sound as though it was recorded in 1977, great year for music!!!. Thank you!!!.
from switzerland with a fantastic and solo album, there are ideas from E.L.P and Gentle Giant somethings about Genesis, but is hovewere a great work
Great music at a time when punk was breaking. The amount it takes to create original music and perform it
To the max. Prog line

Omg your channel has so much amazing music. This album is fantastic.
Super album & super group!
Really thank you ,im in love with this fantastic album ,thanks again ,for share :)
MY GAWD! I have listened then a quarter through this by now and am still waiting for it to become less interesting. It reminds me quite a bit of my all time favourite prog(fusion) band UK but if the date is right this is actually 1 year older than their debut! Which makes one think. Put differently: For me this is the first progrock epiphany since a few decades! The only pity is that the singer's voice does not have a bit more body. As far as I am concerned it would have been even better with John Wetton / Greg Lake type vocals. Most progfans will probably disagree though and actually like the Peter Gabriel touch. And he certainly is versatile enough in his approach! Anyway: Almost half time now and still going VERY strong! Then that piano solo! Must close now to go clean up the juices.
A new wonderful Discovery, and i have to Say Is soooooooooo beautiful, emotional
Amazing and super music !!!
Finalement petit bijou
very interesting album. really worth a listen.
Cielos, estas canciones nunca mas hubiera hallado... me preguntó cuántas canciones habrán en el mundo que no conozca :'(
3:28 Dammit, I think I'm in love again! 🤗subbed
Great pick! Mr. Pete Pardo (SoT) sent me here... Pretty cool! So obscure prog! A Swiss Gentle Giant... Unfortunately they only released this album; so sad...
Greetings from Brazil!
really great dark prog= devil doll.
musica brilhante para ouvir e re-ouvir sempre
Prog is one of those things you have to listen to over and over. When i first heard this album i wanted nothing to do with it TOO WEIRD. The 16 min title track has grown on me over time. Although some of the album has that lets do something weird for the sake of being weird. The lead singer here is Benjamin Jagger i first heard him when i discovered the hard rock band TOAD back in 08. This is as far removed from Toad as you can get.
GASTRIC jUICES!!!!!
A REAL MASTERPIECE!!!
I can listen to this forever.
man! this is good.
Thanks for posting! Love the Giger cover art, too.
*Woo-hoo!* This album is so fucking mental, totally unexpected in the first listen😲😆 It's like if this obscure album single-handedly outperform Zach Hill and other mindnumbing modern math rockers with class, while putting so many tech-death/extreme prog metal bands to shame at the same time lol. All in all, this is truly an instant classic for me😁
Disclaimer: I didn't mean to slag either subgenres in general, I do love a handful of bands from those genres. It's just my first impression I had with this wonderful album, really.
Of all the rock/metal albums that I have heard throughout the years, this remains the most complex. From the constantly modulating modes, Jazzy/late era classical harmonies, to the rapidly changing odd-meters, chromaticism, counterpoint, broad keyboard and percussion section and the dynamics in the band etc, makes up for a mindbogglingly complex album, but I think it still is awesome to listen to!!
I'm not sure where the math rock comparison came from, as this album doesn't feature any kind of guitar.
Masterpiece!
Great stuff!!!
This is metal slug music
Lmaaao yeah, and the giger album cover fits so well with the game too
This is what you'd get if early YES and early CARDIACS had a love child. EXCELLENT!!!
OMG.
I recognized the Giger artwork.
This album for me is like the audio representation of playing a deep and involving videogame.
:) Great stuff, thanks for the upload, Perfect prog...:)
aren't many bands without a guitar..... like.
And not even a bass! All on keys.
The bass lines are from a Moog Taurus bass pedals, same Taurus pedals you hear on those Genesis and Rush albums.
The first two Rare Bird albums had no guitar. Hansson & Karlsson was strictly organ and drums (Bo Hansson's solo albums features guitar). The Nice features very little guitar after Davy O'List left, Attila, the heavy rock duo with future pop hitmaker Billy Joel made do with no guitar, as well as Quatermass. Far more recently a new Swedish band called Blå Lotus proved they can too do heavy prog without guitar as their album Tube Alloys demonstrates. That band has a "no six string" policy.
KNow nothing of this group .Like this album alot Its straight from the freak zone The album cover looks good very alien look. Album Sounds very intresting there singing in English not there native tongue. Prog rock is not just about guitars playing hail for leather. Intresting album SOUNDS .WILL listen to more of this groups work if available very different sound doesn't disappoint. REMINDS ME A BIT OF VAN DER GRAF GENERATER
Pretty god. A mixture of Gentle Giant and Van der graf generator and a touch of Music Magic
el arte de la portada si no me equivocado es de Hr giger mui buen album y excelente arte
Epidermis genious original force mas sland grande album vou comprar
New to me, great also.
