Love the review very well done she is super cute. Also if anyone says that she's a recast she is not at all. These type of dolls and others that are similar to her are like cousins to bjd's. These dolls are made usually out of ABS or PVC or similar type materials while bjd's are made out of resin and certain other materials and our strung up with string throughout the body to keep everything together. These are more like a cheaper option to bjd's for people who are curious about the hobby or aren't sure about the price point but still want something similar. Now recasts are when you take a bjd someone else made and make a mold of it and then sell the copies you make from that mold for cheaper than what the original artist sold they're bjd for. Which these dolls are not like that. I actually highly recommend these type of dolls for people who are curious about the Hobby and want to get into it but don't have the money for it at that moment especially since they're really similar to bjd's and good for beginners especially the ones that you can change the wigs and eyes on like bjd's.

A lot of these HJD's (Hinge joint dolls) Actually do have recast heads from resin BJDs, It's important to not entirely write this off as not recast because that isn't true. The company that makes this doll does 100% make other dolls with recast heads...

Diary Queen is ICY/DBS/Fortune Days brand. They are mechanically jointed dolls made of ABS. As much as I am a sucker for resin dolls, I caved and bought Theresa (the doll you reviewed) for my husband. He actually got me Rumia for my birthday, since I fell in love when Theresa came in.
They are excellent for the price! I absolutely adore Rumia. We filled out the little cards. It asks for the doll's name, date of birth, blood type, address, master's name, and master's date of birth.

Anyway, I’ve been collecting bjds since 2010, and I can say, the poseability of these “affordable versions “ is way better than of any “proper” resin dolls I own. Just saying...

For BJD clothes i would suggest going on etsy, the clothes can get pricey and the shoes are a bit pricey to, but they are all handmade and good quality things. There are also different accessories and furniture for the dolls two. They also sell wigs, eyes, and other doll customization items. There are also different doll price-points. The less expensive ones range from 30-150, the mildly more expensive ones are from 200 to 400-500. The ones that are really expensive are the hand made dolls which range from 600-700 to 800-1,000.This doll is a BJD, but the less expensive ones aren't normally strung like the ones that are a bit more expensive, they also aren't resin like BJDs that are more expensive. Most BJDs are made from resin or other tough materials, but there are also vinyl dolls and dolls made of softer squishier materials., which can get easily stained if they wear darker clothes for too long
(Just some simple BJD facts for some help, and suggestions for where to buy clothes! :) Sorry for the long comment. Hope you enjoy all of your dolls.)

@@TheDollCircle yep people on insta and other platforms do sell them like that but it's very common for these people to have an etsy or sell them on ebay as well. Ebay is another option for clothes besides etsy and other types of similar websites. Also ask for the dimensions of the clothes cause 1/4 is a general size but there are differences in measurements between dolls, some minor and others that are very important or very different. Its especially important when buying shoes if you are interested in getting more pairs for your girl.

      @bugbabez Před 3 lety +4

A doll is sculpted through months of work by an artist so people will understandably be upset when someone takes their work and bootlegs it. I dont agree with people being bullies but a lot of people who cry bully are just overwhelmed at the number of people trying to guide them towards buying the original artists work and not supporting bootlegs of their hard work. The community really isnt as evil as people make out to be.

@@bugbabez Idk I think seasoned BJD collectors are tired to guide newbies and that's why they come off aggressive when they tell a recast owner that their doll is no-good. Moreover, some stuff that DoA has banned and the drama that those have caused kind of turn off new BJD collectors (myself included). I don't think the community is evil, but it could be friendlier, just my thought.

I'm happy you like her and are starting an interest in BJDs! I've been in the hobby for about 12yrs now and there is so many different types, prices ranges, and workmanship.
Be a little leary of recasts dolls though. If you see a doll at say $500, then see the same doll on Amazon or Ebay for like $150, it is most certainly a recast.
Recasters by legitimate artists dolls, make molds of them, and "recast" them and sell for a much lower cost. Usually the workmanship is very poor, damage easily, and outfit quality usually lacks as well.
I would love to talk BJDs more with you, (but don't want to fill up your comments section) but you actually can afford a legitimate doll because a lot of companies will work with you on payment options, the biggest one being layaway!
Can't wait to see more of your dolls, have fun! She is very cute ☺️

I would just like to add that if you are looking for legit BJDs at a good price point (not as cheap as these but affordable compared to others), Resin Soul, Bobobie, Mystic Kids, Doll Family-H , Doll Leaves are good options. Some of the MSD sizes (43-45 inches) are less than $200 (including face-up and shipping) if you time it right during an event. Anyway, just putting it out there. 😊

I feel like at this point we should contact actual bjd companies and ask them if they'd be willing to send out review dolls to these youtube toy reviewers. Recast and modified recast companies are taking advantage of people inexperienced with bjd and useing then to promote their products. I know it would be a big financial hit for some of the smaller artists but I feel like at this point they need to get on top of this problem while it's still a bit contained.
There are so many low cost strung bjd out there. Resinsoul, impldoll, mystic kids are all making gorgeous dolls but it's these cheaper recast companies that are sending out products for review because they have next to nothing invested in the doll and can throw them out willy nilly to anyone with influence. It makes me sad.

The second hand market is very forgiving and tons of collectors offer layaway. We even have dealers like bjdivas and Denver doll who offer layaway on brand new dolls. And that's not even counting the low cost companies selling legits. I'm by no means a rich person. I work 40hrs a week and it's taken my ten years of collecting to achieve a collection I'm proud of. Ive been interested in this kind of bjd/big very articulated fashion dolls, but Im not sure if the headsculpt is stolen or a common headsculpt like 1:6 fashion dolls but with inset eyes, bald head and a head cap. Which makes me keeping my bjd wishlist on amazon as private, as I am anti-recast.
When it comes to clothes, wigs etc, you can either buy or make them yourself. There are many awesom tutorials with how to make wigs and clothes. And if you have a printer, you can find and print out patterbs for clothes. I think that Myfroggystuffs have posted some patterns on her website. They are mainly made for Smartdolls but adjustments are easy to do.
Wigs can be made with acrylic yarn or hair extensions. Wig cap can be made by either sewing, crotchet or by using plastic film tightly secured over the dolls head and "paint" a wig cap using glue onto the plastic film or making a wig by glueing hair onto the plastic film to make a wig after the dolls head shape. Ive even seen tutorials where they used marking tape on the plastic film to make a wig cap pattern.
Ive only done the crotchet wigcap and used acrylic yarn to make the hair of the wig. Yarn wigs tend to be short as the yarn when brushed, tend to break at a certain length, no matter how long you cut the yarn, so if you want long hair, I suggest making the wig using hair extensions or wig hair.

@@thefragranceapothecary7281 totally agree when it comes to the company in this vid and ones like it, though i'll add that most legitimate resin BJDs provide a variety of skintones (BJDs are all about customization after all!)
there's still a ways to go, though, because often the darkest shade on legitimate brands is maybe a deep tan. like the person above said, even though it's not technically a BJD smart doll is great with diversity (they have a doll with vitiligo as well, which i really like) (-:

Most of these dolls are able to stand on their own. You just need to know how to properly space their feet part and distribute the body weight. Resin dolls are actually easier to pose, since they are heavier which makes them more stable. 😊

If you're interested in getting into the more expensive (and "real" for the nitpickers) BJDs, I'd recommend checking out Denver Doll Emporium. You can order a doll from them and they will put the order in with the parent company, and they offer good layaway options! Basically you pay off the doll while you wait for it to be made and then shipped from Asia.

    welcome the BJD hobby :D
you are right there are so many options for BJD's and so many places to shop compared to when i got into the hobby in the early 2000's. the last couple of years the main place online I've gotten cloths, wigs and dolls and accessories for my doll or for doll making.
Alice's collection ( www.acbjd.com/ ), Denver dolls ( www.denverdoll.com/ ) or BJDivas ( bjdivas.com/?v=7516fd43adaa ) or directly from the doll company or artist to just to name a couple. many of the sites or doll artist offer layaway options that are good to help the budgets for some of the expensive dolls.
The only thing i would advise to watch for and to do more research on before buying doll is to watch out for re-cast. in simple terms it's when a more expensive dolls from a company or artist is acquired buy a re-caster and then copied exactly and sold for a much much lower price. it is a hot button topic in the hobby as many dolls companies are not as much of large scale operations as most people would think, or are a single artist and. In some areas and social groups in the hobby Re-casts are not accepted.

You shouldn't encourage your viewers to buy recasts. It's hurting small businesses and missing the point of all the work that's put while making a bjd. It's not like buying a remake of a Louis Vuitton bag (for example) because this are teams of max 40 people working to sell a piece of art, basically. If it was just a simple review, I wouldn't have minded, but you've put an affiliate link in the description and made a whole ass ad for this shady company.
