- I have travelled to Dublin, Ireland many times before on the plane but this time I decided to try the 8 hour journey by train and then ferry. Join me on this long journey taking the train from London to Holyhead and then the Irish ferry to Dublin.
Awesome, cheers mate!! amazing video, ill probably do it next year
I’ve done this trip a few times last minute booking before xmas when flights were crazy prices. Love it. Like an adventure. Funniest time was when I was in the bus to Dublin City centre I couldn’t find my phone. Got my iPad out and a couple of hours later my phone was in middle of the Irish Sea. I left it at the bar on the boat! You say do in summer but don’t do school holiday time as boats are packed with and families driving over now that car hire is so expensive
Thanks for the upload mate! I was gonna book a flight but the ferry looks more comfortable.
Cracking video pal.... Keep it up!
Thanks 👍
Small point....its an Irish Shamrock, not 'clover'....common error made by visitors
Hey! Thank you very much for video, it was very helpful! ❤but I have a question: did you have to pay extra for the furry ticket or was it included when you bought the train tickets?
No idea. 😂 I guess ? When I lived there for good Yeah. I knew it how to travel by Metro 🚇 ?!. 🤩 Take cre Man. Just overjoyed in every journey's out there! 😘😅👋❤👍💪
That’s a shamrock, free bus with a ticket really? 😮 I’ve never had that service only on to the ship itself. 3.5 hrs in club - eat/ sleep / drink and maybe repeat 😅. Good for you to experience it though. I’m a regular for that route to visit family
I've walked along Holyhead station, the red brick in the 60s, getting off a steam train , to board the Pricess Maud.
@patrickwatters7555: In BR days the main ferries were the Cambria and the Hibernia. The Princess Maud was the standby vessel renowned for a rough crossing. It was also capable of carrying cattle between the two countries. Happy days!
That’s a Shamrock, not a clover.
Did you not get to duane ? Paspoort controle ? Just white train to other country
Is there any customs/ bag search?
Great video Stuart!
Many thanks!
Stuart, this is a great video, thank you. Can I ask something? When you docked at Dublin did you walk through the connected walkway from the ship to the port or did you have to get the shuttle bus off from the car deck? 🙂
@@ruthninawelsh Hi Ruth, there is a connected walkway from the ship to port in Dublin and then the bus
@@russianstuard2458 That’s brilliant, thank you so much for replying. 😃
Blimey temple bar pint is probably more expensive than the whole trip ... 🤪
could you share the link for how you booked this? i am looking to go from dublin to liverpool
Where did you buy this ticket that includes train and ferry? Sounds like a great trip to Dublin.
I want to do this
WELCOME to my city, how long you staying?
I was only in town for a night. Would love to see what St Pats day is like there one day!
'Beautiful Holyhead'...eh...
And you contacted me too late to organise a few pints 😂😂🍻🍻
Next time!
The Ulysses is the largest passenger ferry in the world. Did this trip many times when I studied in England. It’s a ship that’s close to my heart.
Hello it was when it was built, but now dwarfed by ships such as Stena Hollandica. It's a damned nice ship and I know the yard management (Aker) were suprised that neither IF nor anyone else sought out a sister ship.
EDIT: I was wrong as well. Hollandica might as well be a lifeboat on some of these big Baltic ships:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_largest_ferries_of_Europe
EDIT 2: I was on Viking Olympia (Pride of Bilbao, Princess Anastasia, Moby Orli) right after she was launched and she was at the time the World's largest ro-ro ferry. Now barely in the top 70, if at all.
@@derektaylor2941 Yeah, Ulysses is the biggest car ferry in the world, dwarfed by nothing.
@@Agentt4777 no it isn't. It was when it was launched but it is not now.
Sorry, I really doing think I can make that any clearer, even after I supplied the evidence above.
Let me guess, boat in the middle? What will science think of next?
😂 no shit Sherlock. Shame no jetski would have loved to turn up in style
@@russianstuard2458 Yeh, sure
