    A lot of people have commented about the video comparing a Higher Class of Toro mowers to a lower class of Bad Boy Mowers. Although we do not agree with it completely, we have created a video that compares a much lower class of Toro mowers to a much higher class of Bad Boy Mowers. Hope this puts things in perspective. The hydrogear 3100's are identical so there hydro issue is a HG brand issue not BB. The comparison is not apples-to-apples. It should have been manual decks for both and solid suspension/solid seats for both. Saying the BB beats you up when it doesn't have the 'my ride' is not an equal comparison. This vid was essentially a sales pitch for the toro my ride, at least he says which ever you buy, have a good dealer network.

    That Toro model is a higher class than the ZT Elite it is a $5,999 model vs the ZT - Elite at $4,999. The equivalent Bab Boy is the 60 Inch Maverick at $5,999 and has suspension like the TORO Titan. That would be the true comparison.

    I bought a Toro model 74778 in march of 2018. Overall I have been happy with its performance and appreciate the "My Ride" shock absorbing feature (our lawn is quite rough). When new it did a better job than it now does. The difference I see now is that it tends to leave un-cut grass much more than it did in the beginning. It makes a slight difference if the blades are new or sharpened, but it just does not do quite as good a job now as it did. I have to make at least 3 passes now to get all the grass cut. I did develop a problem with throwing the drive belt off. A new belt did not solve the problem. I had to replace one idler pulley at the rear of the mower under the engine in order to correct that problem. I can't complain about that as wear and tear does happen. One thing I would change is to have quick disconnect method of removing and reinstalling the belt guards on the mowing deck. That would make cleanup much easier and quicker.

    Dude you are comparing apples to oranges. I just bought a Bad Boy Maverick 60" about two weeks ago. I had a Snapper 60" cut and this Maverick will mow circles around it. Hop on a Maverick and give it a chance. Forget the ride on the Toro because you can't compare that to one that does not have it. I mow about 6 acres here at me home in Florida. Most of the grass is Pensacola Bahia. I think the Bad Boy got a bad shake here, but I am sure that Toro wouldn't be happy if you liked the Bad Boy. I tried the Bad Boy ZT Elite bu wasn't happy with it. I mean it wasn't bad but it was more in the class as the Snapper. As CS said, "This was pretty much a sales pitch for toro."

I would challenge that Toro to cut my lawn for the next 2-5 years and compair the wear on that mower next to the wear on a Badboy. My guess is that the thinner harder metal of the Toro will crack under the abuse of what used to be pasture land on hilley uneven terrain before the Badboy deck. • @mainstreetmower
      @mainstreetmower  Před 4 lety

      John, something to consider about the TORO engine is that it is warrantied through TORO. Going through a 3rd party for engine repairs could be a long and sometimes disheartening process. TORO on the other hand really stands behind their engines. It's like Apple, who're trying to do everything in-house to provide the customers with the most convenience, instead of depending on 3rd party manufacturers. I understand your concern, but as a dealer, I have seen fewest issues with the TORO, compared to other brands of Prosumer Engines.
      As far as the 3100's go, sure that would be cool. But the 2800's are really just as good. We called hydrogear to compare differences, and they said: "There are almost none"

    • @johnhill7480

      @@mainstreetmower I believe 3100s are steel vs powder coated gears and there's slightly more towards commercial grade with additional trq. If loncin was a American owned American manufactured company I would support Toros in house engine. The fact that Toro a American company chose to out source there engines to China tells me they are saving money at the expense of a American citizen. With record high unemployment in this country and the origins of this pandemic why would I support or purchase anything from that region. Toro should design and manufacture there own engines in America. With the huge costumer fan base Toro has there is no excuse to cut corners and outsource engines to China.

    Laughable "review" The bent metal comment was great. BB has a rubber bumper over solid metal bar that is part of the frame? That "Titan" labeled thin metal on the front of the Toro is no way on this earth stronger than the BB. I wear hearing protection when I mow, so I am not sure how loud a mower is matters to me? I will take your word for it about the BB being bumpier during mowing, but your over bouncing acting was comical when you filmed the BB.
    BB uses 7 gauge steel on the deck and has a deeper deck then the Toro. Not sure about the Toro but I will bet it is 10 gauge only..honestly not sure? Also, the BB has the pedal option for deck height as well...you showed the upgraded deck motor, but I agree overcomplication can cause issues.
    The BB looks bigger and stouter from simple pictures? Your whole win for the Toro is an upgraded seat...ok Toro wins on comfort...I'll take a sturdier built mower that is a bit bumpier and "louder"(Lol).
