    Nice to see they added oscilloscope probes to their line-up. Ordered a bunch rightaway. Have been using their classic 'SP-10' in conjunction with a normal scope probes, but that was always kind of messy. Actually never cared much for the PCBite holder itself, most of the time I simply stick the goosenecks to a small 0.5kg gym weight or something like that. The probes are sharp enough to maintain position even if there is a bit of movement between the probe support and the circuit board.

    Something I've always wondered about those "antenna earth leads"
    Is the issue the thickness of the wire, the length of the wire, or both?

    • @EEVblog

      The length and the inductance caused by it.

      @@EEVblog BTW, you can easily improve performance of these probes by soldering a short length of copper wire to the ground can, or to the exposed gold ground pads on the back side.

    Hey Dave, I've emailed you thru Amazon and thru eevblog emails, and I have'nt had a response. I am having troubles with your BM235 meter, and I need to find out how to get it exchanged under warranty. Bought it in August 2020, and I says it has a 1 year warranty, but Amazon says it was only able to be returned up until Sept 20(30days). Please help, I need my meter, badly.

    How is the ground connection made? If it is a long loop, it isn't a good HF probe.

    • @kenwallace6493
      @kenwallace6493 Před 3 lety

      To answer my own question, one could use another PCBite probe to find a close ground and then use a short jumper to get that ground to the probe.

    those x1 probes would be fantastic for logic analyzers
    i doubt i can get away with asking for 10 ... but i will try
    EDIT: those prices are fantastic, seriously, $115 for 4 of them, if you got 20 your still under the cost of a good high quality fine pitched probing kit thats far less versatile

    It only works on pcb board installed horizontally on that metal base, don't see how useful it can be when probing instruments and actual systems with pcb inside.

    • @EEVblog
      @EEVblog Před 3 lety +1

      Err, no, the PCB does not have to be on that metal base, that's just to provide a more secure base so the holder base doesn't slide. You don't need the PCB holders at all, the board can just be sitting on your bench, the probe has plenty of reach.

  • @jack_brooks
    @jack_brooks Před 3 lety

    Looks compelling, I wish they were conformally coated or had some kind of nonconductive covers. Probes get dragged over PCB's by accident and those exposed shields are a hazard imho.

    • @jack_brooks

      @@ferrumignis I can envision a case where you can accidentally lean the shield against tall energized objects like a power supply or something with bus bars. I would probably wrap the probes in Kapton if doing this, but I don't see any reason this couldn't be straight from the factory and they were looking for feedback on their new product.
