That part is easy. Because the play was never halted and still live. That the elbow was dirty as hell and deserves ejection and suspension is a second story, but the ball was still live.
Idk what these announcers saw, but it's clear that Rice led with her elbow into Beers face. It was an obvious intentional foul upon replay.

She leads with her elbow not because she malicious but because she's a lefty that how her shot is! She did not throw the elbow as you are saying it wasn't intentional but it was a foul. the announcers are pathetic. the girl shot with her left hand and used her right elbow to clear out the other girl their words are insulting in the NBA the player would be tossed.
Anyone who plays or coaches at a serious level knows what was done here. This was a strategy but was executed in an over-the-top manner. You could see the intent in her face during the post game press conference.

This happened over a month ago and I'm still so mad that the player wasn't suspended or that there wasn't more of a punishment! Raegan was out for a few WEEKS after this!

Official didn't call the first foul but called foul on the second shot. So they go back and look at replay to call a foul on something they didn't call. How can you go in for a layup when a defender is on you and not have contact?

The OSU coaching staff and players should be ashamed for NOT caring about their player or teammate by not even acknowledging she was on the ground. beers is an incredible defender, rebounder, and great offensive threat; she doesnt dish out cheap shots. rice likes to go to the hoop, and beers defends very well. in LA beers had 21 points, 5 rebounds, and was whistled for 4 fouls, but played 31 minutes.
I want to be her teammates and not care that she’s sobbing and really hurting.

She took a direct elbow to the nose, could be plenty of things with that impact that can cause someone to be wobbly. Concussion first and foremost i mot definitely possible. Getting hit in the nose with that kind of force can cause blurred vision, dizziness, and many other symptoms similar to a concussion without having suffered one. So yes, it is very explainable that she would be disoriented at the very least.
