I remember this. There's no way some one did not see Tyrese, Genuine, Johnny Gil, and El DeBarge did not have their act together during rehearsal. They all had to be intimidated by the legends Luther Vandross and Ron Isley. This was six solo acts trying to get together and sing lead, but they clashed. Luther and Ron were superb, but the other four needed to stay in the audience as super fans who could have brought Patti a bouquet of flowers. I love Ms LaBelle.💖 🎤🎶🎵🎧🙌

I was 15 at the time of Aaliyah’s death and there are no words for how tragic that was… I remember how long the sadness effect lasted thinking about her… As an adult now, it has come full circle on how devastating the death was to the music industry, her peers, and the ones that paved the way for her… I remember Whitney Houston mentioned being devastated about her plane crash as well as a few other entertainers…

But Luther Vandross and Mr Isley, picked up the slack like two pros and made the tribute very fitting. And Whoopi Goldberg doesn't rol outta bed to give tribute to ANYONE..so this was very cool. Patti walking up the steps like a diva-queen, was the icing on the cake.
