Thanks. Can you also put a link to your video you referenced for fixes to the drive including the Future Pinball games?
Also Drew, I want to get a mini-PC that connects to my 4K TV and connect this 12TB Games Hard Drive to. In the product page they say you need an Intel i5 (10th Generation or later) PC with an nVidia RTX1060 Graphics Card to run everything on this 12TB Hard Drive properly. Can you please recommend and link me the best deal on such a Mini-PC that has those specs? What price would such a PC be for? I want your best recommendation as I trust your advice on all this. Thank you! 🙏
Thanks for the discount code Drew. Ordered this morning.
@@garrynicol69eXist May I ask you how much was the discount for (percentage wise) and what was the total price after the discount? (In US Dollars?). Did the discount apply only the manufacturer's Website link? Or was it also applicable on the Amazon link? Thanks!
@@thescorpionsy9011I ordered directly from the kinhank website and the discount code was 42 dollars off. I'm UK so worked out at £210 or 260 usd.
Can we stop calling these consoles though? Its a hard drive, still need a PC to play.
Mark the video as misleading on your way out. 👍
@@MIKandJEAN CZcams police at its finest. That wasn't a derogatory comment btw and this creator is not the only one out there labelling these drives as consoles. I'm just saying it can be misleading for people who want to buy these emulation drives and are not 100% savvy with the requirements. I'd hate for someone to splurge hard earned cash on one of these consoles and find they still have to drop an additional chunk of cash on a low end pc or laptop. Everyone so quick to jump on the defensive these days. 🙂
NO. They were from console titles originally.
i'd have to agree, hardly plug and play when you need a decent pc to use it!!
What some people don't realise is that marking something as "misleading" or "not interested" and in worse case scenarios "ignore this channel" has nothing to do with the video creators, it's how you get CZcams's AI to limit recommending the same type of crap. It doesn't just look at video titles, it scans every frame and all audio so it knows every detail. How do you think AI can give you the price of a second hand game, book, or DVD from just a photo in seconds lol.
Tube's AI tried it on as I was looking at Ambernic videos. Fighting the Tube AI makes recommendations a better experience overall. Enjoy! 😊
These drives inspired me to make my own. I have a 16tb drive using playnite. I love it
How long did it take to assemble the roms and emulators? I want to make my own drive, but I don’t know where to start or how long it would take.
@maschicken5450 I've been collecting roms and repacks for years. But the last two I've spent a lot more time getting them instead of playing them. I discovered playnite last year but only recently have I got it set up to where I feel it's a pretty smooth experience. Probably played the first 10 minutes of a few hundred games testing the settings.
Wich type of storage do you use?
@maschicken5450 hard to say. I've been collecting roms for a few years but I found playnite last year and just finished setting everything up last month. I took my time testing hundreds of games to ensure the settings are good. Playnite auto sets cover art but it doesn't do that for icon and background images so I had to individually go through over 1000 games to make it as close to a steam experience. It's probably about 8 months of compiling the library. Really couldn't say how long if you count collecting all the roms. A lot of the ps3 games needed to be patched as the rom sites don't always have decrypted versions available
@paddleout the entire library I have on a 16tb hdd. Seagate exos. I don't really game on that though. Maybe some nes or ps2. I keep that as a reference point for backing the library up. I split it up onto some m.2 drives that I use to play. Better load times for ps3 and switch games
Hey @drewtalks, great video! I know you've done a couple on this drive already, but, would you be willing to do another talking about some of the "fixes" that need to be done? You mentioned it briefly both in this video and the last one, but, I think a quick video going over a few of them in some more detail would be a big help...Thanks!
For the price, it is hard to beat and one of the best builds on the market. That being said, it still does have its flaws. There are quite a few duplicates and some games either won't load at all or require tinkering around with the settings per emulator to be playable. Still, I would recommend it if you can't build your own or just simply don't want to. There are plenty of games on it that will keep you busy for a lifetime.
20tb custom retrobat with no dupes or holes
Bruuh if u have a decent internet u can download everything on the net
@@mobileplayers5008 yeah that's very true and I like building my own but it really just comes down to preference. If you don't want to build your own, this makes it super easy and convenient to get right into gaming. For a lot of people, that's worth the price in gold.
@@mobileplayers5008 that's a lot of time though, and scraper only gives you what, 1k callbacks per day
Looks like the Amazon listings are the older version of the 12tb drive. The Kinhank direct link appears the to the latest version.
Ali Express and Banggood have the new one
I'm almost 100% certain that the new version is not on amazon
I have one and it’s not really plug and play. Lots of games are not working. Technoparrot is not working properly for example
I just got this drive on Friday. I had also bought a computer on Amazon for about $100 that I have dedicated to running this just so I don't have to worry about potential viruses. I would be surprised that anyone could easily download this many games on their own. I certainly wasn't up for the task so $200 didn't seem to much considering you get it all on a 12 tb hard drive.
I would say that isn't exactly plug and play there were certainly some tweaks that need to be done. Specifically the controller isn't always recognized by some of the emulators so you have to go in and adjust for controls. I know that I have barely scratched the surface of this thing but it really is mind blowing how many games are on here. It certainly doesn't have EVERYTHING on it but it does have most everything I could think of. My only disappointment so far is that it didn't contain any of the PS3 Motorstorm games.
As far as duplicates I have seen some but usually they are different versions of the arcade games or the same game on different consoles so in my mind the duplicates aren't really an issue.
Does the PC you bought for $100 run everything on that drive? Even the high end stuff? Sounds too good to be true
😅👍
@@deathsnitemaresinfullust2269 I have spent a couple of weeks with this and it does seem to run most everything on the drive. I can run all the retro systems, all Nintendo games (including Switch), and all Sega games. I can run the OG Xbox, and can run the 360 games, but they are too laggy. PS1 and PS2 games work fine but can't seem to load PS3 games. I have found some arcade games that don't work but I think more often that is the ROM or an emulator issue as opposed to an issue with the PC
@deathsnitemaresinfullust2269 If it were a free office PC with a quad core i5 or i7 minimum and an RX6400 GPU ( about $150 or close to $120ish during Prime Day) it could play them pretty well!
@@mike_t_007 thank you for the info.
😄👍
@@deathsnitemaresinfullust2269 no prob! Keep us posted on what you find😎
Make sure you sandbox your computer and scan that drive lol. I would love to know the smart history or crystal reports of that drive, I doubt its new and prob has tens of thousands of hours of usage already.
$300 for just a hard drive is a bit much... they're only about $100 now. The selling point is the games so it's not worth it. You can get all of this for free if you know where to look. And I agree with some of the comments that say you shouldn't be calling this a "console" as what you CAN play is strictly based on the computer you hook it up to. You need a pretty beefy system to emulate some of the more recent hardware such as the Switch.
No idea if KinHank are using new drives but lets say they are. You are looking at ~£140+ for this HDD, add the Ugreen caddy, which is around £25-30 ish. I fully agree with you ref the console aspect though, I honestly wish I knew where to get all of the roms and emulators as I'm desperate to play some of the V old stuff but it looks like I have no option but buy this. It's £270 on eBay, supposedly the "new" build.
The amount of time it would take to get all of these games makes the price worth it.
teknoparrot plays out of the box nice :-) that's always a pain to setup :-)
yup!
Thanks for these great videos keep up the good work 👍🏼
The Mic sounds Good..Love these Boxes
Im a big Fan of your Channel but Not everything is working out of the Box. Example Mario Kart Switch. Not Booting. Controls are meh. Some Roms couldnt be find, when you Launch them.
The Amazon reviews say the same thing. Hundreds of repeats, broken emulators, poorly set up controls, unplayable graphics.
@@nostalgiaboxco this HDD is Good for Roms, but someone who thinks its out of the Box will not be happy.
Thank you for this! I was just about to get it.
Umma stay with my 256gb
@@alexanderhoffmann9324 Sounds like it's actually good for nothing then.
First, I agree it's not 💯 polished, but for the price can you name a better alternative besides building it yourself which I agree if you have the time and skills
This is great, can you do a tutorial on how to setup a Sega 6-Button controller, I really prefer to play my SEGA games on a SEGA style controller, I have no idea how to setup.
Omg with the moms Why don’t your mons game??? Mine does and my grandmother too 😅
need more gamer moms
How did it handle the console- Suyu or Yu-zu? Which mini pc did yiu connect to it? Or what would you recommend? I have their x5 pro and really enjoy it ! with included PC but im sure ut would struggle with PS3 Xbox 360 and up.
Can you sort these games by multiplayer?
I remember coinops on the xbox had that functionality and it was great when yoj had friend around
I picked one up. It’s a great deal even just for having all the roms collected for you in one place. Unfortunately, my windows pc doesn’t detect it in File Explorer or Disk Management. Just doesn’t recognize the drive at all
Did you open the drive and take the hard drive slide it out and slide it back in to reseed it? Sometimes they come loose during shipping.
Also make sure the power is on and it should be a LED light lit up.
Does it run well just by plugging the gaming HDD into the PC? Or does it run smoother when you move the files to your internal HDD in your PC?
Still no arcade Castlevania? I searched but nope I have it already but wont work with certain graphics cards and run sound..just soundtrack. Still never saw a workaround. This is pretty nice though. I want a one and done.....its almost perfect.
you can drag and drop the game pretty easily
Hi all, does anyone know (or can suggest) if this/any retro console has games along with game cheats/codes? A plug and play set up. Thanks in advance :)
for some reason, i cant get the controller to work with arcade games, other emus work fine but the buttons do not work with the arcade
I have a Rog ally. What SD card or USB stick retro do you recommend?
What is the video card you use for this? What do you need to run PS3 and XBOX 360? Thanks!!!
A Radeon 6600 or Nvidia 2060 for older generation of cards, or a 4060 Nvidia or a 7600 xr about newer generation
that would be amazing! I thing a 1080 or better would work
I'm almost 100% certain that the new version is not on amazon
I want that core typeR launcher
you can get it for free online search it up
I have this on a pretty good mini pc but I am I able to get games to run correctly. Even NES games run choppy, what might I be doing wrong?
Does it work on mini PC's?
Yeah as long as it's powerful enough to run what you want.
@@deathsnitemaresinfullust2269 thanks i will definitely buy the mini PC's and the hardrive that has all the game inside of it
@@rickster7373 yeah it's probably what I'll do too. There's another channel that specifies what type of mini pc will work for what you want. It's called TechDweeb and he covers a bunch of other drives and emulation stuff.
😄👍
Will it fun smoothly off the ROG Ally Z1?
Show the flash games
Hell yeah
use flashpoint for that
@@WasephWastar Yknow, i like Flashpoint but i found it so overwhelming i prefer making my own collecfion.
Whats the first game being shown?
so if i only have one PC should i not use this on it ? Hence everyone’s warnings or is there no real proof of viruses being held in it.
Where do I get one from
Isn't the Amazon link for the older version?
I'm almost 100% certain that the new version is not on amazon
Would this work on a steam deck or legion go through a dock plugged into a tv? Cheers.
if it runs windows yes
Imagine this drive is full of mp3s and by US law or something similar, you have to pay for each single one a penalty of 80k $ instead of 99ct - if you're captured, which would be very likely since it's shipped unencrypted. And now imagine, you had to put more money to assemble such a game compared to producing some stupid pop song. What would be the penalty then? I think even Elon Musk would go broke.
@drewtalks I asked this before but never got a response from you, Drew. So I will ask you again...hopefully you can give me your recommendation this time. Can you recommend the best type of Mini PC out there that has an i5 or later Intel chip and dedicated RTX graphics card in it that can run EVERYTHING smooth like butter on this 12TB Games HardDrive? I'm looking for the best bang for my buck deal. Then I can buy this 12TB drive...because my only PC is an old Laptop that will not run modern or even older games...lol. Thanks!
Guy you're going to have to do the research. It is recommended you use atleast a 10th gen equivalent I5 with at least a 1060-1080 equivalent gpu
@@Knyghtrida Thanks for the info.
That's an amazing device, how did you get the controller to play the games
its plug and play with Xbox one or 360 controller
I have one, and when I connect the Xbox 360 controler it only can navigate through the wheel of games. It won't let me start a game or play it.
@@leunaum It isn't exactly plug and play. I have a xbox controller hooked up to mine but discovered that for some emulators (specifically the PS and Nintendo ones), I had to open the emulator and set up the controller there. But for the most everything else the controller seems to work without messing with anything.
Did you disable your antivirus to install the files, I forgot to disable mine, and turns out the files that needed to be installed were removed from the 12 TB HDD. Maybe that's why my controller won't work
Really embarrassed but can you confirm that this is what you did. Turned off norton or your antivirus, added and exception for the hyperspin drive, then proceeded to install the files. Connected your xbox 360 controller in settings, ran the 12tb main app, how did you navigate through the wheel and how did you start the games?
For ps3 does it come with all dlc?
Has anyone tried these hard drives on a steam deck
Does it have MS-DOS and older windows pc games ?
yes, but no that much. depending on when you buy it they might add more, but mine had only about 120 DOS games. but I downloaded like 200 more and dragged them in the drive. it's easy to add more. it also has multiple other old computer emulators like the St Claire, comodor, amiga, acorn, etc.
Do I need a program or is it a plug and play?
plug and play into a computer
are you able to pull roms from it right i havent ever bought anything like these
yes
Best way to think of it as a backup power house.
for sure
Can a Xbox in dev mode play these?
is that windows?
270$ just for the HDD n games.
so whats the specs to run this ..i cant see it running on a low end pc/laptop
i5 or better

Just got a 20tb American retrobat custom build hows that grab ya, forget those china junk drives i really wish youtubers would stop promoting that garbage when there are plenty of homegrown options available, also cheap, didnt ask me to install or move or download nothing

This isn’t that great this hard drive doesn’t have Xbox or Xbox 360 the new kinhank hardrive is better for $200-300 it actually has and runs all consoles with the exception of PS5 and Xbox X/S
how many ps2 games?
There is a game list. about 600+
Ots not a console. It a hard drive. Sone of us need a tv plug and play retro consoles...
Price might be good, but when you deal with these Chinese products, you have to deal with all manner of viruses, trojans and keyloggers. Hell if they will sell you actual PCs with these things in them then something like this is even more likely. You're brave if you hook those up to your PC. The Hyperspin software alone flags with viruses.
You could just do what I did and get a cheap computer dedicated to this drive. I literally have nothing else set up on there. I didn't register any accounts or anything on the drive so not too incredibly worried.
@@akadros310 I just have a problem allowing any device or software that is so obviously fraught with danger on any PC - that's just me though. Have fun!
I have a pc that's not connect to the internet just in case. I don't trust any HD especially from China. But still will plug that bad boy in the dedicated rom station
@@robhav11 All of that content is available on every corner of the internet anyway. Why load a PC up with viruses and worms to play what someone else put together from a non-trustworthy source. Besides, I don't want to spend money to emulate games. I'm not saying that I would never do it. But I personally would always avoid the Chinese drives.
Dude, I received this hard drive last week (July 2024 21st-27th), and there are no virus reports on my system. I got a recent automatic scan on the 29th, and there are no viruses on my system. I followed the guide on Kinhank's CZcams channel. What you're supposed to do is disable your virus protection, then make a virus exclusion for the drive's drive letter, which excludes the entire drive's folders. If you own this, or have heard others getting virus reports, they're false positives, as some files on the drive aren't well liked by virus detection software. If you're savvy about these sorts of things, it's nothing to worry about, and you can play the alloted games just fine.
most of these emulators are outdated run like crap they need to stop rom and emulator dumping so many duplicates its crazy
this is a bit of an over reaction on your part, its not that bad, super playable
This thing’s far from a console. It’s a hard drive.
🤦♂️
This isn't a console, it's a hard drive. A console is something you can plug into a TV and play games with.
This requires a PC to run, it's basically just the games crammed into one package.
It's really really awesome, but it's not a console.
