God this takes me back . I still love this classic song from a great brilliant childhood children's TV series. A special time in place of when I was a young Boy watching Rupert the Bear .
This is such a happy song, but instead it made me cry as its nostalgia transported me back to my childhood when I would watch with my late mother. She's been gone for 19 years now, but every day, evokes a beautiful memory of her. Miss you so much mum. I will always love you. 💕
Hi 💗💖 I'm the same Rupert the bear was my favourite as a child 💗 brought a tear to my eye , the innocence of youth. My mum & dad are also are gone, listening to this Theme song , I can't help but have lovely memories of my childhood.🙏💖🙏🎶
My dad gave me a Rubert Teddy bear when I was 6, and he sang the chorus of the song and it went "🎵Rubert, Rubert the bear, everyone wonders and everyone cares, (then repeat)", and then he said that there were also many verses, and that it was a long song
OMG, the memories that flooded my mind when listening to this. It reminded me of being a kid and watching it with my mum and brother (who have both sadly passed away). I wished I could go back to those times, even just for a day 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
When I was 6, almost 7, I was given a stuffed Rubert teddy bear. And my dad told me the lyrics for the song, he sang it and it went "🎶Rubert, Rubert the bear, everyone wonders and everyone cares. Rubert, Rubert the bear, everyone wonders and everyone cares", then he said that that was the chorus, and that there were also many verses, it was a long song
Now I'm in my late 40's, I realize that these Rupert series, -whether on telly or as I had them: on paper- helped us kiddies of that generation to grow up without hang-ups, or prejudicies about people different to us.
This theme song actually charted in the UK back in 1971 and reached number 14. It also finished at number 7 in Penguin's Best TV themes of all time. It ws sung by Irish singer Jackie Lee.
My hospital companion... along with Lamb shepherds pie - my feeling poorly comfort food and dustbin Lily- my friend! I loved Rupert... and my auntie... shame there was soo much jealousy in the family....
@Goat Man Oooh baby I know the difference between your and you're and that's good for you that English wasn't your first language. But You said " OmG YoU RaCiSt, what the matter? Never been to Africa ???" (Never been to AFRICA) So basically you're saying Africans look like that. ( 0:54 )
@musical memory lane: When you put it that way it definitely lets me see it from a different perspective. Hearing the song was a nostalgic moment. Thanks for posting.
Never liked this as a little boy but the TV series song sung by the great Jackie Lee, from Dublin like me ,I thought was great and its in my music collection
Wow, anyone notice the song skips a beat around 30 seconds? Fantastic. Dave Bennett did a video on songs that skip a beat. Music for kid's shows was so amazing back then.
I started hearing this and I was going to say that I don't remember hearing this theme when I was a kid. Then a second later, I remembered this was from the 70's version with the puppets. I was thinking of the 90's cartoon they had on Nick Jr.
I never used to watch it, but what was it on just before? Something came on just after this, which was why I had it on and why I remember the tune...what could I have been waiting for to start on tv, following this?
I used to love rupert the bear cartoon and especially the theme song, i always loved singing along to it, so catchy and happy,i still love it now after all these years, wonder who sang it? i would love to know!
I was hoping to find a drill 'n' bass remix. Seriously, I was around as a very young boy at the time, and didn't get the whole Rupert thing. Still on iconic tune I suppose.
Thanks for posting. Years since I heard this. Dunno what all these guys are on about, as far as I know and am concerned, this indeed is THE Rupert theme
When I was 6, my dad gave me a Rubert Teddy bear, and he told me the song went like this: "Rubert, Rubert the bear, everyone wonders and everyone cares. @@Alicethegoon-q6y I'd postulate that as all the other animals have human hands Edward has probably lost his fingers in a threshing accident. He's very lucky as the stumps now look like Elephant hands.
@@fjell6543 it’s unusual seeing these characters with human hands, we’re they just like uncanny valley creatures that don’t exist or just some person came up to make these abominations. The plain white hands look better in the comics than the annual covers with that creepy Rupert smile
@reynellie nah when u look at it in a different light rupert had the gollywogs interests at heart :) by puttung them in the show kids from racist backgrounds can see black people in a freindly and fun enviroment and be re educated that u can be friends with someone different , good always comes from bad if u look hard enough :D
Omg. I played this for an American friend who didn’t know what I was talking about & had NO idea the horrifically racist image was going to pop up - I don’t know how I never saw those characters before! 😱
Yeah, I'm American and my husband is English. Rupert was aired in the US on Nick, Jr. in the 90s and I was telling him about the theme song we heard there. He said he didn't recognize it, but he grew up in England in the 70s. He just sent me this link because this was the tune he remembered, but he didn't even realize these images were in it until I paused it and showed him. Stunning, indeed. I think it doesn't register when you're a kid, so you're not going to remember them as such. When you're reintroduced to it as an adult it's very eye-opening and sad, actually.
Not sure why everyone's going on about Gollywogs, but I would just like to point out that they are just dolls, and shouldn't offend or humiliate anyone because they are inanimate. They are full of cotton wool.
@LukeSkyscraper Ohh now that is interesting, I don't recall seeing Gollywogs when I used to watch Noddy (the originals) Were they animated for the series at all? and that rollercoaster sounds way cool C: I wanna ride :D
I think, that there is nothing wrong with these 'gollywogs'. They are an animated representation of African people or other people of that ethnic background. What about Rupert? Is Rupert racist because he to is an animated representation, but of a bear? What if those people were white little girls with blonde hair and blue eyes. Would that be racist too? I think including people of other ethnic backgrounds is good for children to acknowledge other societies. That picture is harmless. :)
@N15man I used to have a collection of gollywog pin badges that u sent off for with robinsons jam when i was a kid and i never once looked at them badges as anything racist.Just a happy looking black man who was playing cricket and footy etc.Having issues over such things actually makes the woirld feel more racist and fake trying to pretend racism is not there when it clearly is . And if there wasnt racism then the hate would just be passed on to something else like hair colour or how rich u are
Fun Fact - This isn't the same opening theme that should be available. There are 2. The other seems to be harder to acquire here.... Can be found on Qubo.

Rupert 😍😍 I loved this 😍😍
Ha Ha Ha, I love your name.....................Jackie Lee.
funny how one little bear could have so many comments
As i had the most horrible parents ever i have to watch these things now at my age,
Rupert the bear was a cartoon from uk 70,s or 80,s see you tube
Apart from that scene you know the one. Legend.

I just realized that the woman who sung this theme tune also sang the 'White Horses' theme tune... and 'Pipkins'. Jackie Lee.
Yes indeed I certainly sang all three theme songs...............Jackie Lee.

@MusicalMemoryLane I'm glad you agree ^^ Thanks for the upload btw :)
