  • Dr. Jordan B. Peterson sits down in-person with longevity and chronic pain expert, Dr. Adeel Khan. They discuss how Adeel helped treat Dr. Peterson and his wife Tammy for chronic pain, how gene-editing via stem cells will be the inevitable future of medicine, the doomed nature of restriction based dieting, the physiological basis behind depression, and the current state of research giving new insights into longevity.
Dr. Adeel Khan completed his MD at the University of Ottawa in Canada.
After training in sports medicine and interventional pain, he specialized in regenerative medicine. He co-founded Xalt and is the Chief Scientific Officer of Science & Humans. He is also the chief medical officer for Minicircle, the world’s first reversible gene therapy. He has a special interest in using interventional procedures to treat weightlifting injuries, as well as chronic neck and back pain. Dr. Khan also teaches medical students and residents, and is an Assistant Clinical Professor at University of Toronto.
This episode was recorded on Dec 29th, 2023.
Dr. Peterson's extensive catalog is available now on DailyWire+: bit.ly/3KrWbS8

I had the privilege of having Dr Khan has my family doctor in the past. He was an exceptional practitioner who didn’t shy away from going against the orthodoxy of the extremist politico-religious medical establishment in the government-controlled “health” “care” system in Canada. Being a very wise man, he quit the practice during the covid hysteria. He’s the kind of doctor that doesn’t exist anymore in Canada.

He is just another contrarian too limited to thrive in normal academia or general practice and therefore griefts as just another snake oil salesman. Injecting peptides and stem cells into every hurting knee and shoulder that he comes across hardly counts as "wise". Furthermore his general lack of understanding basic biochemistry and physiology is shown times and times again in his Instagram comment section. Nice guy? maybe, sure why not.

As a veteran I believe this should be the course of treatment for veterans and the VA should get on this as soon as possible. This is revolutionary and soo powerful!

This is music to my ears! I've lived with an auto immune disease since 2008. The treatments offered to me have always been drug-based with risks of terrible side effects. After trying a few of the lower risk options in the early days, which proved to be largely ineffective, I decided to try functional medicine, along with lifestyle changes, to manage my disease. This has helped to some extent, but I'm still experiencing chronic pain. I pray 🙏 regenerative medicine will become affordable and available for all in society.

I would love to participate in any research that would help people with chronic neck pain. Necks are very tricky and not very successfully treated through surgery. Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome affected me for years until Dr. Shoemaker developed treatments. I have been waiting for someone to treat spines. Keep up the amazing work.

I feel privalaged to have been present at the death beds of many people in my lifetime and to listen to those (who had compos mentis) as they spoke of their regrets with the knowledge that the energy of life was now evading them. "Time wasted on minor trivialities" has been a common conversation near death. It has taught me not to take things for granted. If you have an objective or a goal you must achieve; then, as Peterson rightly says- aim single mindedly at it until you obtain whatever it is you wish to achieve. Unfortunately along with this, I am unable to tolerate any type of chemical so standardized medicine treatment with pharmaceuticals is out of the question. I experienced it for a whole entire month which kept me awake at night and was a nightmare, particularly for someone who is totally healthy and has never taken any medication, except antibiotics when I was little! The excruciating pain was in the left shoulder and left arm. The physiotherapy did not help. I happened to stumble upon a health article where it stated the question ought not to be "where do you have the pain?", but " Who has given you the pain?" And once I gave it my serious thoughts, the pain disappeared within hours! This is a true story!

Spot on with frusteration that medical industry is focused on masking chronic issues vs getting to the source. Ive pretty much stopped seeing specialists paying $200+ per session, each one i saw seemed too hyper focused on their specific niche and zero zest for further investigation/ brodening ideas... with each series of sessions refering me to medication.

I want to thank Dr. Kahn for taking Fibromyalgia seriously. It makes everything unbearably painful. You don't sleep, and over time this unbalances every system in the body. Many doctors still think it is just "a bunch of hysterical women". A lot of us lose everything: our ability to support ourselves, our homes and our partners. Combined with the lack of validation from the medical profession, all of this contributes to the 24% suicide rate.

Try magnesium glycinate! I have fibro and the pain in my neck and shoulders gets so bad that even trying to rest my head on the pillow to sleep hurts. I took magnesium for the first time and my joints stopped hurting-my flare up was gone! Definitely give it a try!

@@NotCJ95 - I agree that Mg is a necessity. I've tried them all over the years and found no difference, including glycinate and the super expensive threonate, so we take Mg citrate since it is the cheapest form that is also well absorbed. Glycine with NAC is also supposed to be a great help. A 3 mo. trial got us nothing, but we still take NAC to clean our livers due to taking medications. That is wonderful that you got such good results!

It's not cutting edge, it's just not covered by insurance, which is why "high profile" people seek out the treatments, they can afford it. PRP has been around for decades, stem cell therapy for the past dozen years or so. Widespread adoption hasn't happened because CMS won't get off its ass and make coverage decisions, and private insurers would rather you forgo the expensive PRP/stem therapies that only delay the end stage disease and simply suck it up until you are old enough to ger a one-and-done prosthetic joint. It's the money, always about the money. Why prevent the disease when you can make money hand over fist treating the symptoms?

@Samples, listen to everything you can from Dr Schmidt, he is out of Ann arbor, michigan. He explains that the first thing to reduce many problems, is get onto a Ketogenic (or carnivore type diet). Learn on dr schmidts channel, how to do muscle testing, learn about nanobacteria, lactic acidosis, parasite infections that underlie lots of health problems. Along with chemical toxicities, heavy metals. Your pancreatitis could be due to parasites. Unfortunately, ive discovered over the last 16 months, that all our food is full of parasites, many of them survive even charring, and much heat, even low temp freezing. The way to kill em in food, is treating the food with NIR red light. On avg, 60min for meats/cheeses/ dairy. Veggies take about 30mins. Of course, you will first need to detox first, whatever is overwhelming your body. Look also into making a homemade NIR Sauna.

In turn this will lead to better performance, cognitive function and personal autonomy. This will directly affect one’s social economic status in a positive manner. The issue isn’t that people in the bottom stratus are unable to afford the resources it’s that they don’t understand nor have the knowledge to operate and maximize things that they already have. Fitness can be done anywhere and nutritional habits can be taught and adhered to even if money is an issue. There are loopholes

Indeed. The interesting snippet you may be interested in, body builders are highly sought after and inquired for valuable feedback as many people actually do not, and they think they know but again Do Not, actually understand how their body’s work like a body builders or that if a professional athlete for example would. A more acceptable persons besides a celebrity , a more disciplined person adds valuable knowledge to this research. As many avenues of miss-information have become a huge problem. The very unheard people like body builders have never been in such demand for scientific study, we even expect a boom in a generation of youths of fitness and related personal lifestyles to emerge in coming years. And we in the gym can finally stop hearing the pathetic excuse of “dad bod” anything! finally our expertise and knowledge of the human body isn’t disregarded by the mass public whom in larger numbers popular opinion is lesser than our own. Now science is endorsing scientific proof even in the study of how and why fit people are indeed smarter and have never been able to explain or have known why. It was never studied, but now we see our “muscle head” selfs not being ashamed or having fear of seeming bouatful to our fellows whom are not in their ideal shape or intellect, indeed we just like fitness and health and that’s been our answer to the activated loved ones and friends who ponder why, and how we seem to not be subjected to common illments, cognitive narrative bios, and constraints of limitation to our scholars, wealthy, and famous opposed to our average Joe level of that seemly perfect image those graduates of prestigious accomplishments, our version of the same thing. Been living the lifestyle of the idols they talk about with all the answers we have even repeated for them. And yet not believed or disregarded. We won’t need a famous figure to read our script of the same things we’ve been saying for them to believe it. But hey . You’re human too. I’m just better at it

1:01:09 I know exactly what you mean by this. As a person who has endured chronic depression for over 15 years, I "cured" myself of it roughly 3 years ago, and still going strong. I had to ignore what the masses were telling me, such as, "it's not your fault," "it's a chemical imbalance," and focus on one simple question, "What am I regularly doing to NOT be depressed?" Ultimately, I learned that if I'm not serving mother nature and/or people around me, I have no reason not to be depressed; I'm a burden on the very planet itself, thus, I must change myself. This is the thing most people fail at is changing themselves for the betterment of those around them, which in turn changes their self for the better as well. In a world where things are given to us at the touch of a button, it should be absolutely no surprise why the number of "depressed" individuals continues to skyrocket.
It's incredibly hard to get people to swallow the truth, especially when the truth involves looking at oneself in the mirror and not looking away, just because it "hurts."
