It's definitely not once a year and it's not for my health. It's the health of veterans with PTSD. Have some respect for the people that fought for your freedoms and stop shooting fireworks.

As a veteran with PTSD I much prefer the drones to the booms.

Cut the military waste by 1% and you will more than make up for the all the fireworks shot in entire decade, this feels good, I'm sure, but overall it's not really going to do anything but make another holiday less fun. Oh and I'm an infantry Veteran, I deployed twice I have PTSD too, it's a lame excuse to take away other people's fun, if you ask me. For one, it's KNOWN that there will be explosions on the 4th, which means they aren't going to shock me in the same way as they would if I didn't Know to expect them, Like when fighter Jets fly over or helicopters, which set me off far more than something I know to expect.
Furthermore, I can just stay home and not make everyone else's life less fun, which is what I do.
Make less war, you will have less Veterans to care for or worry about and you will save the planet a heck of a lot faster than you will by this feel good stuff. Our Founding father's didn't want us involved in endless wars, we were supposed to mind our own business, we didn't fight the war of independence so we could turn around and get involved in "foreign entanglements".
If you want to save the planet and help out veterans, go to an anti-war rally and stop voting for war mongers, who do nothing but dishonor the people who fought and died for our independence, while they destroy our planet at the same time.

I can't help but imagine what air combat will look like once this kind of technology makes it's way into fighter aircraft. It's like having several dozen wing-men all communicating and coordinating their movements (and presumably their weapons) simultaneously. And if both sides have access to the technology, it will be the mother of all dog fights.
Yeah I bet it's going to make for some pretty spectacular dog fights. But the aircraft themselves still have physical limitations.
The drones can already identify your face while self-roaming. They probably don't even need titanium wings.
It's already there. Drone strikes are way more common than fighter pilot combat

I honestly do not care. The Fourth of July is not Independence Day. It’s the third of July. I have my first son to worry about on that day. My son is more important to me.

Boring
Here's the lesson I see: History is full of instances when one technology replaces another. Cars replacing horses. (Anyone ever study what NYC's streets were like in the era of the horse?) Telegraphs replacing the pony express. The iPhone replacing the phone. And on and on and on. Fireworks are intended to be visually dazzling. Drones can be that as well... with more intricate patterns and images... and with less health risk to humans and zero traumatic effect on pets. I have loved fireworks my entire life, but I ALSO love PROGRESS.
I’ll stick to explosions
Drone technology aerial displays are too orderly. Part of the fascination of an aerial explosion is the element of surprise.
Drones create cool 3d art in the sky while fireworks blow up in the sky. I don't think fireworks are going to be replaced. Feeling the explosion is part of the fun.

It’s nice but they have to go through all the trouble to make sure the drones don’t crash into one another. Many want to go with the original fireworks.

Visually stunning and creative. I have two questions. First, at what threshold regarding local wind conditions does it risk degradation of coordination of the drones, or drones potentially colliding and falling from operation? Can "interrupted" drones recover from free-fall and auto return to formation, or auto return to a safe location which would not fall upon a crowd of spectators?
Secondly, for such shows that might be used in lieu of a Fireworks display, much of the enjoyment of Fireworks is related to the sound and percussive impact of the explosions. Do such drone displays have the inclusion of ground-based percussive explosions or recorded amplified sound to accompany the display? Or perhaps coordinate a synchronized audio / music feed with local Broadcast FM for "individual" reception ...
Cause honestly it’s a bit… to wake up and inhale alll that smoke in the morning after.

I can see drones being used a lot more, but replacing fireworks entirely? Nope. Fireworks are too classic and ingrained in some of our traditions.
I like the drones. But love the Big Bang and everything. We can sit in our neighborhood and watch the fireworks and go see the drones. It would be nice.

Oh my heck, list all you can that is bad,how long have we had fireworks, there has always been fire danger with many things. I love the fireworks, all is good ,I say no to drones unless they are part of the traditional fireworks, why replace.

I say fire a 12 inch mortar into the middle of those drones and really get the show back on it's feet. And the fireworks are representative of what Francis Scott Keys witnessed at fort McHenry when he wrote the lyrics of the Star spangled banner during the shelling. The drones like watching golf will put me to sleep. We are becoming a nation of being so safe it's boring.
Fireworks are a representation of weapons. Drones are weapons of war.

As a combat Veteran, i HATE fireworks, they bring back truly Horrific memories, and Never should be used for Veterans Hollidays.
If you people wish to experience war, that can be acomodated without disturbing my peace.

I love setting off my own fireworks but I also understand that it can trigger PTSD. I never had any neighbors with those issues so they usually just watch the show from their yard. This is in the country btw.
If you can survive war, you can survive 4th of July. Plenty of veterans learn to live with fireworks.

There's nothing wrong with fireworks. Absolutely nothing they've been used for centuries with no problem. All the sudden they are a problem.
they dont care about all the chemicals and hvy metals sadly and how it accumulates even in their childrens bodies over time sadly....they say they love nature,yet are ok in 2 many ways as dont read ingredients or look up, on products used in daily "living"either that gets all dumped all of which ultimately gets added to all waters on earth when these times everything is now overloaded as its been accumulating thru 2 many generations. They sadly wont get it,til it gets them and theirs which is also been growing but the causes not realized as the wrong theory was used to create modern medical

I thought this drone thing for the 4th years ago. Its like people complain about climate change but support watching toxicity blasted off all over the world to watch pretty lights. I can't lie it is amusing but maybe another way considering may be ideal

Personal fireworks, I'll keep. Full displays though I like this alternative. We don't give all the veterans suffering from PTSD issues, dogs freak out less, and we don't need to clean up leftovers for a week.

I don't live in a fire prone area, so I'm sticking with my fireworks. I just saw a video about this, and I'll comment here the same thing I did there. Fireworks are an experience. It's the incredible sounds, the smell, the enormous crowds all coming together, the beautiful display. It's all of it. I think light shows are beautiful too, but they'll never compare to the experience of fireworks.
