I'm going to keep repeating this message until it's addressed: Native Hawaiians have been saying for months not to move or visit the islands. On top of there being a water shortage, the colonization and gentrification of the islands are causing mass homelessness for NATIVE Hawaiians being displaced by rich, white mainlanders who do not share or respect the culture. These influencers can keep saying how much they care about sustainability and kindness and human rights, but their actions are telling. You don't actually care about others if you cannot abide by the simple request to NOT do something.

I wish she could understand that her happiness, which could happen back in Arizona or anywhere, does not come before a Native Hawaiian’s material needs, or if she does understand, have her actions reflect that. Or even better, she could leave now. Losing money on an Air BnB deposit (after already making money from Hawaii videos) does not even compare to sheer homelessness.

You inspired me to come to Hawaii in august so I can start my healing journey my grandma passed away a year ago and I still haven’t fully healed from that and also coming there to hopefully learn to love life again as much as I used too.
