skip was actually funny in this one. Stephan: I look at Westbrook differently than you do. I look at Westbrook having a dual role.. Skip: A dual role? He has a solo role. shoot. Skip: everyday he has 3 or 4 assist...by accident. Not hating but that shit was funny though.
thunders should have keep harden and trade westbrook for young and smart point guard like rondo, irving, holiday, lillard, curry or even jlin or rubio etc and some first round picks
I wonder if Scott Brooks ever thought about starting Harden and making Westbrook the sixth man, I doubt Westbrook would agree but not a bad idea to try it.
That isn't what a poing guard is supposed to do though, that's Skip's point. He's saying that Westbrook is a 2 guard, and if the Thunder started somebody else at point guard it would be better for the team. He's not saying Westbrook is bad, he's saying Westbrook shouldn't take more shots than Durant, which he obviously shouldn't. I mean why does the point guard with the 3 time scoring champion take 4 more shots than him EVERY GAME?
Yeah because Westbrook actually starts at PG while Harden comes off the bench and plays SG, Harden is the better playmaker, Westbrook is too much of a scorer.
Actually in basketball years its not when you considering the guy never played point gaurd in his life until he got to the NBA and now all of a sudden he's being asked to play the most complicated position on the floor when his natural instinct is that of a scoring gaurd. Point gaurds are born. You don't just magically become a point gaurd. Philly tried that once upon a time with Iverson, it doesn't work that way.
Agreed to an extent. They're not nearly as good without him but at the same time he still messes up a lot. It bugged the hell out of me when people wanted him to be traded for being so sloppy. He's young and he'll mature and become a smarter player eventually. The Thunder aren't nearly as good without him mistakes or no mistakes.
yes, but you can't say that he is "11th or 12th" in rotation...this guy is 3rd best player in this team and maybe one of better SGs in league, in any other team he would be starter and he would average 20+ ppg, but because of Westbrook (not good as PG btw) and because there is no one who can come of the bench - he comes of the bench and plays GREAT! truth to be told, I think that OKC would have chance to beat Heat in The Finals with some other player running the point, but not with Westbrook...
When your playing a team like for example the Lakers, Ibaka guards the deadly Pau Gasol who thanks to Dwight, now going to be able to play the role hes most comfertable with which is stepping out and shooting the open 10-15 ft jumpers. Ibaka guards him, while arguably the only person who can guard Dwight Howard straight up no double teams in Perkins guards the most dominant big in the game. Trust me they need both bigs
I honestly think that he's so ultra competitive that he thinks that if someone scores on him, that he has to go back down the floor, and show them up. That's just youth showing, his decision making will get better as he gets older, and more experience under his belt. I think he understands that Kevin Durant needs the ball in key situations, he just wants to be that guy, and you can't dog him for that. He'll be great PG one day, his passing has already gotten better this year.
@@michelleharding9646 come on man how the fuck lakers 2019 were a super team with 5 players who nobody wanted in their team and 4 comming of injuries. and the thunder with kd, russell westbrook, serge ibaka, steve adams, andre roberson come on man. that team was better than the cavs team of lebron WAY better.

I wouldnt trade Ibaka, him and Perkins are probably the toughest and best defensive front court I have seen in a looong time. Remember now that Dwight Howard is in the west, there gunna be seeing alot of Dwight, I would want the best defense possible to take out the best threat. They should have jumped when Steve Nash became available. CP3 isnt going anywhere anymore hes gunna play the rest of his valuable career in LA.Boston will be only desperate enough team to trade for Westbrook. But not yet
Maybe, but if Westbrook disagrees, then he won't play as hard so it will hurt the team anyways, if he does agree won't hurt to try. Either that or if OKC doesn't win the champioship this year then I would go for trading Westbrook for a passing PG and a scoring big, maybe to the Celtics for Rondo and Bass.
I would in a heart beat, especially if my team comprised of Kevin Durant, Serge Ibaka and all those three point threats, and point for Rondo, Perkins and Rondo are best friends.
I find it kind of funny that Stephen A said to Skip "Your pick for the Spurs doesn't count" ...... It's like he JUST STARTED watching them in the post season, and understands how good they are now.
that wouldnt solve their money problem though man, cuz then your going from paying a max contract to westbrook and have no money for harden to paying a max contract to Rondo or CP3 and still have no money left. If I were them, I would trade westbrook to toronto or minisota or something, a team with a pass first point guard who makes the plays but doesnt break the bank, but obviously get a couple first rounders to make it worth while. Toronto would be my first choice though Brick for Calderon
I hate how they have this whole discussion without mentioning sefolosha once, He is the one who ultimately harden would be replacing. These two always seem to digress and miss the point
Westbrook is 25 years old, and he is already one of the best point guards in the game. He's young, he shoots the ball too much, sometimes he takes bad shots, but he's so young. He's got so much to learn still, and he's still not in his physical prime. He'll be a monster in about his 6th season, watch and see.
When OKC is still torching teams, and the rockets are barely making it into the playoffs is when we'll see. Kobe is greatness, you can't seriously question that him going anywhere else wouldn't have made him any less of a player, he's spectacular.
"you must be crazy.." lol but yea totally agree with Stephen A. here...Ill give Skip that I think the Spurs were tough and I thought they could pull off a win, but Harden didnt need to start
He's young, and he's learning his game slowly, he's getting better every year. He's learning to take care of the ball better. Give this team a few years, I bet they run the heat out of the building. Russell Westbrook isn't even in his prime it, and neither is Kevin Durant, they'll destroy Miami eventually.
Well, Skip was wrong this time obviously. I hate the fact that everyone doesn't see what Westbrook actually does for this team, he makes OKC what they are. He runs the floor, he's super athletic, and he's very explosive. He's a momentum changer.
Because Manu is healthy Skip? That's why you need Harden to come off the bench to match Manu. You can still have Harden running the point without him starting at PG
He was wrong/right. He said OKC won't win the championship with Westbrook playing how he plays (right) and he said they won't beat the Spurs unless Harden runs the point (wrong).
OKC should've got rid of Westbrook, not Harden... With James and Durant as starters, they could've already won a ring. As they picked Russ, they will win SHIT.
25 isn't that young but I get what you're saying. Only time will tell I guess. I just think this is his game and to be honest in most situations OKC is better when he's aggressive. Just drives me crazy in close games when he forces up shots when Durant clearly has a better matchup. On top of that Durant doesn't have the personality to go up to him and be like "hey man GIVE ME THE BALL", like say a Kobe would. Then again, that might be a good thing in the long run.
He might be more explosive, but Iverson was ALOT smarter, he created amazing space with he crossovers and step backs. Iverson was faster, passed more often. The only category that I can say without arguement that Westbrick is better is Defense. Hes a hound dog. If he puts his mind to it Westbrook can be the best defensive point guard, with a hell of a offensive game.
james harden is a WAY better pg than westbrook. but what makes the thunder so good is that harden comes off the bench. the thunder could definately be the best team in the league if westbrook played differently. westbrook needs to pick his spots better. the main weapon for the thunder should be Durant, not durant&westbrook. and when james harden is in the game hes the pg. they are at there best when harden is distributing and pickin his spots.
Westbrook is a true shooting guard as much as the league promotes him as a point guard. Dont get me wrong hes great but the only reason the Thunder kept him was to take pressure off of Durant other then that hes pretty expendable.
5 years later, he starts at point guard and balls out. Skip was right lol
