- Our flight to New Orleans today was delayed for maintenance AFTER we had boarded (I'm a flight attendant). I started talking to the passengers and realized we had a barbershop quartet in our presence. I asked them to sing and most of the passengers began video taping! It was such a great moment... The mood changed and our passengers were awesome for the whole 5 hours they were on the plane! One of my favorite moments!!! Thank you to Port City Sound for creating a wonderful memory!!! Hello! Thank you so much for posting this video. My Dad, Walter Dowling, is front right. I'm so proud and always love to hear him sing. It was a treat for me to see this as I'm sure it helped to lighten the mood on a delayed flight. Thx for sharing with the world!
hello ,i m a Chinese ,i saw this video in our website and loved it,so used a special method to login youtube in order to find this quartet, fortunately I found @t you mind to tell me some more information about your dad's quartet?thx very much
You are very lucky to have a Father who is a very gifted singer! Godbless!
@kelly Emerson, does ur dad n his friends have a CZcams channel?
Your dad has an amazing voice
They have such great talent!
I am always amazed at folks who can actually, sing! Acapella is truely the only way to tell true singers.

@Rhythm Lines LLC It seems they are pretty famous they're headed somewhere to sing.🙂✌ They are also sharing their happiness with folks who maybe, can't afford to pay for it? Either way these fellas are blessed and are sharing happiness.💖
@@gtw4546 Lol, I have two of the three you've mentioned on my amazon music absolutely, lovey, lovey, LOVE Born Free.❤✌
A capella singing is the true test of real singing.
I grew up listening to this type music because my mom was born in 1941. I must have heard "Under the boardwalk" a million times growing up. I know this video is years old but I have to say that it is very impressive that these gentlemen were able to keep their voices so clear and strong. They all were clearly masters of their craft. How anyone could give this a thumbs down is beyond my understanding.
Thumbs down from Karen thinking they should be wearing a mask.
Thumbs down were hoping for .....hmmmmmm.......
because they are white i guess
God spoke let there be light and CZcams said no more thumbs down

What exactly does color have to do with anything here?
Years ago I was waiting on a flight to Hong Kong to leave Heathrow, and a Welsh male choir travelling with us started singing right there in the centre of the plane. And they got an ovation!
Hey, never underestimate an older person. You will be one some day. Your body looks different but you’re still the same person. These guys are rock stars!!! They come from an era with no auto tune, no fancy recording equipment. You had to have real talent back then! Beautiful sound fellas!
And the term "safe space" meant FOX HOLE...
There is true talent amongst the newer generations, it's just drowned out by all of the cheap crap.
That's the problem when you have a species that is over 50% imbeciles.
Well if I'm ever stuck on a plane... I hope these guys are on it! Now that was cool!
Hahaha, I'm with you on that one! I would like to be entertained as well if I'm ever stuck on a plane :]
Grow up I'm not gonna fight with you about that! They are singing about a boardwalk!
Agree Whit you was a good idea, to distract the waintng time. Also hope to be on plane one day with these men
You and me both, what a treat compared some other airplane videos.
Just look at their faces they are having so much 🤩
The real gentlemen:
- They delayed a flight, let's sing a song!
Passengers:
- Please delay a bit more, their singing is so miraculous!!!
It's a big joy to hear them singing, thanks for posting that!
I can see that happening xD
if you READ ANYTHING the flight was delayed for maintenance after they boarded
The fact that this has been up for 6 years at this point and has not ONE dislike is FANtastic. I could only imagine these guys all stuck in the elevator together as being brilliant.
youtube removed this dislike counter....

To whoever said "Why can't they just be quiet", read the description you illiterate person. They were ASKED to sing by the flight attendant. Noone forced their music upon anyone. So appreciate it for what it is - a sweet gesture by musicians who willingly shared their gift with the passengers for free - and quit complaining if your music taste is different.
^^^
She has a point, you know.
Even if they hadn't been asked. It's the people who get het up because folks are paying attention to someone else for 51 seconds that need to keep their damn mouths shut.
@@shoehornmalice ,
There is a "karen" on every flight :)
@@trvman1 stop using the name Karen!!!
I want to thank all of you for your comments and continuing to share and view the video. I know that not everyone enjoys the same type of music- but in the end... It's much more than music! It's good people doing kind things. It wasn't even just the quartet... It was the other passengers on the plane communicating and enjoying each other's company throughout the delay and the flight... Thanks again to all of you for taking the time to share this act of kindness.
(P.S. This was a USAirways Embraer 170 operated by Republic Airlines)!
wow..amazing Voice
No, thank you for taking a part of your time to record such entertaining moment. Kudos to the old gentlemen ^_^
I truly I truly truly loved it c=
This is one of the most amazing videos I've seen in a long time I'm only 14 and most people would think I'm not in to music like this, when in fact I could listen to this all day, and I almost have too. ;) So thank you for sharing such a wonderful video.
+Christina Wenzel No I agree and I am 15. The close-knit harmonies are just amazing. This sort of music and old Jazz are pretty much the only things I listen to!
Hi, being a german flight attendant for over 33 years I had a lot of famous singers or bands on board but unfortunately they never performed during the flight or on ground...this must have been a great moment !!!
This is what we need in the world. We should all sing our national anthems in a huge crowd of every country no matter where your from. Love is power people!!!
That’s the best in-flight entertainment I’ve ever heard, even though they weren’t flying at the time!
Enjoyment in a moment often unruly and anxious.
I'd rather just sleep, which this would inhibit that.
czcams.com/video/pn0qIkH6wlE/video.html this is better
Props to everyone recording horizontally.
Doesn't matter how old you are, singing makes everyone's day, beautiful.
I wish i could sing🥴
I completely agree with you Adela. Growing up as a youngster, I always wanted to sing in the worst way and now unfortunately, I do!! I can’t even carry a tune in the shower and I thought everyone was sposed to sound good in the shower but I was wrong there also!
So, now I’m happy and content to listening and enjoying groups like this deliver their beautiful sounds to the world like this group of beautiful men have done
imagine having 3 other lads with you that will burst out into song with you on any occasion. 10/10
I sing in a Sweet Adeline group which is the women's counterpart to Barbershop. Often we'll break out in song in random places when we're together. The best part is that all you need is a pitch and then then you're off! Group singing is a great experience. I've been doing it all my life.
Ooh which group! I love listening to Sweet Adelines. Hope I’ll be able to join or make my own group some day.
Oh please post some of your singing moments!

I have had the honor and privilege of singing with these guys, and this is genuine Port City Sound. Awesome, and entertaining!
Lucky you 😁 lucky us to witness and absorb such creative beauty.
How awesome - what a nice surprise for those on board - GREAT harmonies!
Before Auto Tune, there was pure raw talent and impeccable natural harmony.
Not only is the singing beautiful, but the smile on the passenger's faces are as well
*passengers'
Most of them seem to be pretty annoyed

Hi hubert
I just came across this and watched it. This was truly refreshing entertainment.
Beautiful sounds men..wow..those passengers were so privileged to have this impromptu performance‼️😁God Bless you and hope your all still around💯❤
This was a wonderful gesture of kindness and togetherness, and a fantastic way to ease the tension on a delayed flight (who among us has never experienced a delay of some kind on an airplane?). I wonder why there are so many "thumbs down" on this. Grinches!
Jealous people, there are more than u can believe....
225 viewers wanted to hear a rap.
229 viewers needed a rap....right upside their heads...this group was awesome and made me want to sing along
I think we westerners are being misled by the public conversation on media. The public conversation has nothing to do with the major news outlets and it has soured the American mind. It’s too bad that so many people would thumbs down such a simple and beautifulThing
They probably didn’t realize that this was pre-Vid.
Still, I’d rather live in a world of courageous, joyful brevity than live forever in a joyless, fearful one!
Six years later these men are still getting likes! Fantastic!
In the words of Don Everly, "Old men need applause too!"
Oh the teens was such a wonderful decade. I hope we can return to sanity.
I would never get tired of heard such perfect harmony. That sound has nothing to do with skill or talent. Something that good is clearly a GIFT for others to enjoy. I hope their $ meant nothing on that flight. I round of champagne would have been on me without question.
they absolutely have talent, quartet is a skill!
Oh wow! This was absolutely beautiful! Thank you so much to these gentlemen for stepping up and entertaining everyone on what would otherwise have been a really grim wait - especially for the cabin crew! Three cheers for Port City Sound!😊😃
That seemed rather calming. Now why can't all delayed flights have something like this. Maybe folks would get so rowdy.
How Lovely to listen to these men singing!! God bless them!!🙏🙏
People can be really nice under the right circumstance.
Indeed. Humans are capable of great kindness and compassion -- when they're not busy trying to kill each other.
Nothing like a free, good, performance while you wait.
Old men singing in perfect harmony on a plane? Adorable.
Edit: FFS. I made this comment 6 years ago. Stop replying to me to argue about my choice of words. My 15 year-old self meant it as a compliment - there's no need to come after my throat.
They are not old men. They are gentlemen.
Old people are NOT adorable. Particularly not if they came of age in the sixties! It is condescending to call old people adorable. Perhaps you would like to choose another word, hmm? You are going to get old too, remember that.
@@Robinwhiteart very bizarre reply 🤨
Meant well. And also, the gents were fab.
Polite, talented, smiling old men. Maybe you could learn something here.
I’ve seen a lot of these “there was a flight delay so people started singing” videos - and this is the best one! Melodic, gentle, unobtrusive. They could have kept this up for hours and I really wouldn’t have minded!
☺️ my day just got a little better
Old people are awesome, makes me miss my grandad
Yes, we old people are incredibly awesome!

what a smart flight attendant
It's beautiful sounds and bring peaceful moment.

Exactly! I hate how people think that it's a noise disturbance or something heinous.
That was really awesome! Thanks to the singers and whoever posted! We need more of this good stuff!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸👍👍👍
It's so sad that the younger generation rely on computers to sing. This is a beautiful display of talent! No computers, no auto tune, just awesome singing!
Acapella! Wonderful
I’m 71, don’t disparage that computer music too much. Thanks to places like CZcams, iTunes, Amazon music I’m able to find music that that I grew up with, music I danced to, fell in love to, etc
Music I didn’t think I’d ever find or listen to again
Oh, and that song those gentlemen are singing is “Under the Boardwalk” originally sang by the Drifters
Agreed
Love these guys! I would love to have them on my plane!
Years ago people used to sing while working, on trips, kids on buses did the same thing. It made experiences sweeter and taxing hours lighter. I'd much rather listen to a group singing in my midst than the best singers with music on media/CD.
What a fine, uplifting contribution to the flight! Thanks, Guys 🙏🏻🌟💚
My wife and I had tears in,our eyes! We loved it so much, wish we were there!
I must book 100s of flights and hopefully have them on it!
What fun that would b on an airplane with these guys, now in this crazy world. Love 💘 it!!

How adorable. May God bless this gentlemen.
Now that's talent. They still have their voices because they took care of themselves! Great job gentlemen!
Beautiful! Absolutely Beautiful! Thank You 😊 for posting this video
In a world of chaos this was AMAZING! Thank you!
This is refreshing compared to all the screaming and fighting videos I watched on airplanes videos! I loved them! XO
This is very refreshing these days. Almost wish I could have been there
It’s great seeing positive plane rides!!!
How wonderful! Oh I would have LOVED to hear that on a delayed flight! Well done gentlemen, Blessed!💞
They need these guys on the flights that always have fights breaking out.
I can't get enough of this. Reminded me of years gone by when I was a kid where we sing around bon fires every month of December, a time when all members of our family gather in our grandparents house for the long holidays.
I don't see elders singing beautifully but kids having fun. God bless them!
Ya'all know how to make every situation fun!! God bless & thank you!
Thanks for sharing. Hopefully everyone that hears this will be uplifted.
My dad was in a barbershop quartet when he was young. This is such a treat!
Awesome.
I was in a jazz band 20 years ago and we did this cave tour in boats in New Zealand, so in pitch black we each began singing our part acapella and it truly sounded magnificent in the caves.
That was one of my favorite songs when I was little 🥰
what a great performance...i love oldies song especially this one
under the boardwalk"😍
So enjoyable they are excellent , if they come to San Diego I would like to see them perform.....🥰🥰
That was awesome! Better than the fighting we've been seeing on the news. Need more of this!
So lovely. Thank you gentlemen for sharing your talents.
Tears in my eyes, beautiful
Fabulous singing, thank you for this lovely harmony! God bless tnem.
I was once stuck on a very large plane at Heathrow for four hours, with my college choir on a concert tour years ago. The crew discovered that we were on board and asked us to give a concert to help pass the time. Luckily we were prepared with a full concert of a capella music, and were able to stand in the aisles and do a full show.
It was a simpler time, when happiness, singing and joy was more common and expected.
This is one of the cutest things! They're so good, too!
Gosh, I LOVE this video. That quartet is simply amazing! Oh, how I wish I was on that plane :(
They sound absolutely amazing. Love it!! 🔥🔥🔥
This is so very sweet. My Dad, who played and taught harmonica passed away in January of 2021. My Mom, his wife of 70 years followed him into the kingdom of God in March. This beautiful harmony reminds me of them. Trust me, it wasn't all harmony for those 70 years, but the truth is they couldn't have made music without each other.
FANTASTIC! Way to go gentlemen! Our readers would love this!
Replace flight Marshall’s with these guys….they’ll keep everyone in a good mood …nice job boys ,
Would it be easier to teach a marshal to sing or these guys to shoot?
Do you also believe in unicorns? 🦄
Wish we got to hear the well deserved applause.
What a blessing they are! Made me smile and I wasn’t even there!😀
I loved that! Gave me chills and left me longing for days gone by. Thank you for sharing.
They are just awesome ❤️
This kind of thing never happens when I’m delayed on a flight. 🤣 What a nice treat to lighten the mood.
I remember and LOVE this song...
What a WONDERFUL performance. And a GREAT way to "calm the savage beast" 😁 👍👍👍👍 😁 💗💗 💗💗
Great voices, harmony, fun song 🎵🎶🎵.
How kind of them to break into song and remove stress from other passengers.
Bless you all. 🙏
Wow.. thanks for posting. Such amazing harmony!! What a wonderful thing for them to do. Bet you were glad you asked them to sing. Wish I could have been there!
Seriously I just clapped at the final "Boardwalk, Boardwalk" - Brilliant! Free concert on that flight.
This is why I’m a sucker for a cappella performance. You can do it anywhere, anytime and it’ll always entertain!
I miss early 2015, the world seemed such a peaceful place back then, especially compared to today
Ah, yes, Who knew that "the good ol' days" were only 6 years ago?
Well, this is sure to be a more pleasant flight experience than the flight videos we've been seeing for the past 2-3 years. Night and day.
I felt myself breathing deeper and more slowly after just a few seconds of this.
Better than Air Marshals for calming over-crowded and irritable passengers?
That would have been awesome on a few of my flights. The coolest Grandpa's ever!!
Absolutely amazing and wonderful in every way.
I loved hearing them! Great way to make people smile during a time of frustration.
I hate the direction the world is going and my brothers here remind me of a time when things were better. Thanks for posting.
Them boys was GETTING IT !!!!
I smiled so hard, hurt my jaw
I love what they did - amazing - so many meanings in that - like friendship, peace, positivity and happiness
amazing quartet , would love to see more posts with them
What a breath if fresh air to see them singing and bringing people together. I bet alot of them never even heard this song before. Bravo Gentlemen.....we love to hear you sing....
This reminds me of my teenage trio. We broke into song anywhere we were inspired. We sang beautiful a cappella harmony and could bring a hush to a room as everyone got quiet to listen.
Love the song, love the harmony!❤️
I've listened this 4 times in a row now. 5/5 for these gramps, love em! :)
What kind of person could possibly dislike this video??? Thank you for posting such a lovely thing.
I’d want them to sing the entire way there. This is great.
