@@TomKrochock Don't they do this anymore? Seems to be the smart idea. I mean it's not like we have found a cure to chickenpox and it's not only dangerous when your an adult. Someone in my family had to stay away from his family for two months because his kids kept getting it, but the sister of a friend of mine got it in her mid teens and got REALLY sick. It's not fun but seems to just bounce of kids if they get it between 7-11.
edit: I know there is a vaccine but it's not magic it helps but the way I see it, best to take the vaccine and then expose your kid just so that if they don't get it great, if they do okay well now they will be able to fight it off better than we could.

I got chicken pox twice. Doctor said it happens to a lot of people. First time was 11 and it wasn’t bad, just some itching. Second time I was 16 and was horribly sick.
Colecovision was an early video game console but after Atari. The controls are absolutely convoluted. I found one in my parents attic when I was 5 or so, so I get to tell people Colecovision was my first console and no one knows wtf I'm talking about. It's great.

In Australia growing up exposing kids to chicken pox was normal. Maybe it’s changed.
Not like you wipe their dirty clothes on your kids or something. But it was definitely normal to have your kids around it.
I didn't even know until now, but seems the "ColecoVision" was a real home console, you could even play donkey kong and some other famous stuff on it, although obviously the console didn't pass the test of time. It even had lightgun controllers and everything, it doesn't look nearly as shitty as portrayed in this episode tbh.
I had an Atari 2600 game system growing up, and my neighbor had a Colecovision. The controllers were a small joystick/knob above a number pad-sorta thing.
I remember "pox parties". They were usually in the summer so you didn't miss school.

My parents 100%did this when babysitter son had chickenpox. That's how it was done in the late 70s early 80s. Was it right? No. But did it scar me for life? Also, no.
Getting chickenpox as a kid is one thing, but once you get it, the shingles will be in dormant. I remember my mom having shingles and she said it’s one of the most painful things she ever had on her back, up there with pregnancy, all because she had chicken pox as a kid.
This is a real thing. Parents deliberately do this still to this day.
