  • Another playthrough of a Disney game? Why not.
Donald Duck: Goin' Quackers (or Donald Duck: Quack Attack as it is known here in Europe) is a stand-alone platformer developed and released by Ubisoft in late 2000. This version of the game was put out on Dreamcast (the version being played in this video), Nintendo 64, Playstation and PC. As far as the premise goes, this one is straightforward as it gets, Daisy has been kidnapped by the mysterious magician Merlock, using the power of Gyro Gearloose's Tubal Teleport System, Donald must save Daisy before it is too late!
Despite being based on Rayman 2's engine (and even borrowing some elements of its UI), with its fixed perspective camera and narrow, rail-like, map design, Goin' Quackers feels more like Crash Bandicoot in the way in which it plays. There are even chase sequences where Donald must escape pursuit similar to Crash escaping a boulder.
While this one does not push the Dreamcast's abilities, Goin' Quackers' cute visual style is delightful to look at and performs adequately enough on the 128-bit hardware. It is a funny little platformer which unfortunately does not last too long at only around five hours or so in gametime, but an entertaining experience nevertheless.
