Crazy frosts have come to my region of residence. Daily the temperature drops below -25.6 degrees Fahrenheit. Today I'm going to my dugout to see if it can withstand the extreme temperature of -29.2 degrees Fahrenheit. After all, such a fierce frost is promised tonight, it seems to me that my house underground will be able to warm me and I will stay alive. Will I be able to overcome the elements or not?

These wilderness creators are a different breed. Set up the camera, film myself walking 50 yards through deep snow, go back 50 yards to grab the camera, return the 50 yards to where I was, start process all over. All while it’s minus 20 degrees. 😮 That commitment to your content.
That's also Alex's commitment to sharing his bit of life in the wild on Earth with us. Love seeing it!
Survivor Man
Commitment????I'll bet you there's a Howard Johnson nearby that he could take his cold ass in and sleep in a warm bed until the morning.
And electricity in the woods amazing
No, it is all staged. "Extreme Fost." WTH? I drive to work and see frost on the roofs of houses. WITH MY CAR WINDOWS OPENED WHILE SMOKING!
NEW VIDEO czcams.com/video/KRWmqdn5Tzc/video.html
Hi! It was an extreme trip to my dugout. During the day, the temperature is -25 degrees Celsius (-13 Fahrenheit), and at night it was promised to cool down to -34 degrees (-29.2 Fahrenheit)! I didn't know if my forest dugout could cope with such a frost, so I was afraid to freeze. But my wood-burning stove showed its best side! It was warm and cozy!
I would love to experience this once in my life!!! Amazing man keep up the videos! Love your work!
I keep my house at 62F all winter to save money. I am warm enough if I wear socks, slippers and a sweater.
I wish I had done this when I was younger. Sadly, I'm too old now!
Scary! Be careful dude! That's freeeeeezing cold! ❄️😱
Respect for your skills. Awesome little home you built for yourself.
There is no needs for words Alex, you show the world what a hard working wonderful soul you are, in these times of so much hardship for people you give us what we all crave freedom in nature even if its only for a short time, thankyou for taking me away for a while, god bless from the UK. x
I need words. People who don't talk to themselves are suspicious . It's a down vote from me.

Hello from Nevada in the U.S.! It is winter here and we are in the middle of a snowstorm! I make this trip every weekend to visit my family and I really enjoy watching your videos when I am home! Keep up the great work! You are a true inspiration to outdoorsman everywhere! Thanks for all you do! My best to you and yours!
Alaska laughs at your snowstorm.
Be safe. Stay warm.
If that was a carbon monoxide detector you put up, I would advise you to mount it lower, closer to where your head will be when sleeping. This is because CO sinks; it will fill up the bottom of the dugout first. Realistically, the only time CO will collect is if the draft of your stove ceases.
The co2 detector is so close to his bed, your suggestion would make no difference whatsoever in a compartment of that size.
I was thinking the same thing. Id probably put the co detector lower too but, you know what? Alex obviously slept fine overnight which seems to be his ventilation was more than sufficient. As long as his ventilation is cleared, he’s all set.
CO is about as heavy as air.
It's not heavy CO2!
In normal rooms, slightly higher than the door!
Solid advice!
CO is actually lighter than air and usually disperses throughout the room. The reason why many are installed lower is because they needed to be plugged in due to higher power draw than a smoke detector on the first few generations. No harm or foul here.
This was a beautiful over night stay at the dugout cabin!! Your diner looked grand and I'm sure the hot tea was a very welcome asset. Looking forward to your next visit in to the wild. Until then, please be safe and take care of yourself!
Yes!! Please be safe!! 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
It was coffee
You can tell how cold it is with how the snow squeaks!
I'm grateful that Virginia doesn't get much snow
True. Canadian here. At different temperatures it makes different noises. At -10 C, it crunches. At -20C, it squeaks. Any colder it squeaks at a sharper tone.
Beautiful cabin Alex.Something many could only dream of building.
Loved the video it was a visual escape into the wilderness.
Thank you for sharing.
WOW! It was extremely cold! It is always a pleasure to see how you upgrade the dugout and the food always looks delicious! Stay warm and safe Alex!
NOT a dugout. No digging involved. built over a layer of pallets.
Great video Alex !
Great idea with the rug.
Looks nice, and I bet it made a difference .
Thank You for sharing your video, and bringing us along .
Alex, I love your videos! Thank you for sharing your outdoor adventures with us!
i fart allot
No talking. It adds to the peacefulness of the experience. Thank you. Dillon Beach, CA USA
Hey Alex, it's dangerous to spray a flammable paint indoors. The fumes are toxic and you have an open flame. No good. I'm a Hazardous Materials specialist and I've dealt with these situations all the time. Spray outside in well ventilated area and I know it's cold. Spray when it's warmer.

Alex you do such an amazing job filming and editing! The subtitles really help too!! Really enjoy your videos man!! Stay safe and warm my friend!! All the way from Ohio USA

So peaceful and relaxing, super job on the brick stove it looks so warm and cozy now a perfect getaway for some down time keep up the great videos!
Spray painting near a fire with such fumes. I would have waited until the stovepipe was warm and I could escape the toxic fumes and go outside. I love your little getaway. 🇨🇦
But hadn’t he already put the fire out? After all,he had already capped the stovepipe in preparation for leaving. He waited until he was getting ready to leave to paint the stovepipe, so the fire or the fumes should not be an issue.
Another great video. That's a great little dugout. For it to be that warm and comfortable at that temperature. Good job.
NOT a dugout. No digging involved. built over a layer of pallets.
Came across your videos recently, from the comfort of southwest uk. We don’t have such extreme winters here! I enjoy watching your progress and the way you add to and improve your cosy hideaway at each visit. Your videos are quietly instructive, love the measured pace of your labours.
Mild nonsense there mate, Scotland and Northern England,Admittedly Southwest and Southeast we have it easy, Parts of Northern Scotland in the hight off summer don't exceed 17 c°
I don't know why, but places like this dugout, or the tree house, vans converted into tiny homes on wheels, trucks with converted beds where people camp out in and other similar shelters have always seemed so cozy and comfortable to me. I would love to have one of those
Me too
I believe it reminds us of our childhood making dens under hedges and building rickety tree houses.
Same here 😀
That's exactly what I felt too.
I had some great cozy dens, insulated with straw, polythene for waterproofing, clay for mortar. We lived near fields on the edge of a new building estate so we had access to wood nails some tools.
Wonderful memories.
Thank you for sharing your hide away with us. A peaceful place!!
Alex, thank you for sharing another great video…..what stamina you have to endure such frigid cold 🥶‼️
The rug on the wall near your bed was ingenious!……stay safe my friend 👍
Alex ...one of the best down to earth real video's I've seen and enjoyed for a long time ...thank you for sharing and letting us enjoy ....we know it must be very cold ..but an experience that makes our soul complete with nature ..Love form NZ Roger
I love the size of your cabin. Just enough room for a person to temporarily live and survive. Not much more than 8x8 foot square is clever too heat up and maintain. You won't have time to be bored cutting firewood, cooking, cleaning and staying alive.
So quiet and peaceful, such a cozy cabin, delicious food...wonderful.
Nice video Alex, you really are turning your dugout into a little home from home well done. Keep the videos coming best wishes from England.
Table linens, even!
NOT a dugout. No digging involved. built over a layer of pallets.
This cabin has come a long way, my friend. Beautiful!
thanks!
So glad I caught another one of your videos love what you are doing with this cabin and love the scenery surrounding the cabin thank you for sharing 🙏👍
Another stunning adventure, Alex! Thanks for sharing..
Alex. Another great video. Certainly very cold on this visit you made to Dugout. Regardless of cold, dugout was warm and cozy which speaks to the quality of your workmanship and the insulating you took time to do when building. .so impressive. You also work hard with the camera to insure great videos for us to watch. Thanks for sharing. Take care!!

Thank for making a peacefull video..i apreciate it a lot.
Alex, I am so glad that you were able to stay warm 🙂 The stove that you built is absolutely amazing‼️ As always, I'm already looking forward to the next video 😁
Thanks for telling us what the temperature is.
In the past you showed us a thermometer. For only a fraction of one second.
Thanks also for showing the temperature in C and also F.
The USA is behind the times because we still use F.
Hello! I’m know
We (UK) switched to Celsius a long while ago but old people like me can convert it quite quickly. Same when we decimalised our currency. In the beginning, myself and all other children had to convert the ‘old’ money for ‘new’ money to most adults! May I ask why the US still uses Fahrenheit?
Nor should we change just because ocd people want us to be like the rest of the world when we shouldn't be.
Hello Alex, 🥶That’s Crunchy Cold! Such a trooper to hike out in that. The beauty of the winter creek makes a special moment. 🥰 I like the print on the rug, blends in naturally. ☃️Keep warm so we see you again.🌹

Definitely going into earth about 1 Meter was an good decision to keep your home warm.
Just love the thought of outside in freezing temperatures then come across your gorgeous wee haven in the middle of nowhere. .lovely video 🥰👍
Did this in the woods behind my house with a few friends in my hood. This is so cool. Pardon the pun. We were all happy campers. P-nut butter sandwich, a candy bar of some kind, a 20 cent soda. Yes 20 cents. 1955-56
Obrigado pela legenda, Alex! ❤
Good morning Alex from the USA. We love your channel and your content, have a great new year and stay safe. see you later!! 💯❤
thank you!
Brrrrrrrrrr! Way to survive, Alex! Great video. I'm still amazed at all the camera angles you get, even in the bitter cold. 👍
I love to see you being warm, it makes me feel cozy🤗
You built that dugout with too much care and attention to worry about freezing, Alex. You built that stove to absorb heat and radiate it out. I did think you might cook over the fire pit despite the cold. Great piece today.
Alex,
My friend you are definitely a brave soul to be out in that cold weather.
Your videos are exceptional. I hope that your are dressed up in layers. It keeps your body warmer. Or Long John's.

I start watching your videos a few weeks ago. Very relaxing and love the cabin. Keep up the great work. Watching from Ireland 🙂
I watch a lot of these type of videos, but must say, I find yours is up there with the very best of them.

Yo me pongo morada. Saludos desde Donostia.
Hello - I believe this is the first time watching your video. I loved it. The forest dugout was cute and looked so comfy. Glad you were safe and warm. Beautiful scenery.....
Many Blessings....Sandy
I absolutely love your channel and the little cabin and that eggy bread with cheese 🧀 looked 👌 😋.
What a beautiful place .
Love it 😀
The dugout is getting cozier with every video. Great work! ❤
I'm Australian and the lowest temperature I have endured was -5C. Whilst living in Canada in 1999. I was driving in rural North of Ontario and got caught in a blizzard of -35 to -45C. Lucky as an outdoors man. I carried extra gear and survived 3 days trapped under 8ft of snow. Got severe frost bite but all was well
I love to watch you're progress so far, keep the videos coming.
I have binge watched your videos for 2 days. I really look forward to seeing new ones. I especially want to see the completion of the secret room to your dugout!!!
He disfrutado mucho desde España. Un abrazo muy fuerte de Mercedes.
Looking like a beautiful winter home, Alex! I hope things where you are stay safe and your times at the cabin remain both peaceful and restful, but most of all private! Painting the chimney was a good idea, and it looks like it probably doesn't need to be that tall when it's wet and cold like this.
The taller the pipe the better the draft once u get the pipes warm. And I’m thinking there is extreme snow there. Better to have it to long then to short and have to add pipe or make changes in a snow storm
Why not wear gloves until it heats up? Must not be much below zero
Great job

Thanks for the work you do to get us these amazing videos! I wish I could be there it looks so peaceful.
Hi Alex! Glad you made it to the dugout ok. Please stay warm.😊
Abraços do Brasil!
I just found your video and enjoyed it very much. It's a lot colder there than it ever gets here in North Carolina, USA. Beautiful cabin. I will have to go back and watch your earlier videos. Thank you very much. Stay warm and safe and God bless.
I could live like this forever and die a happy man! Brilliant video, brilliant music too.
Your videos are getting more and more amazing! Keep up the great work Alex
@@OfficialAlexWild. baby wut?
Of course you want that chimney to blend in and keep your zemľanka hidden. When you retreat to it to "disappear" from civilization. There might be absolutely reasonable and legal reasons to hide (I would certainly hide in such circumstances). Just make sure to bring enough canned food to survive for a couple of weeks, possibly months. And water, if there are no near sources of drinking water when there is no snow around. 😀
Let's keep politics out of this.

Hey Alex, nice job on the video as usual :) I was wondering if you ever thought about about maybe bringing some plastic tubs with you(ones similar to what one would use to maybe store clothes in or something) and let them collect snow when it snows so when it eventually melts, you'll have a little bit of a water supply? Or something similar?
Lol
You can get super large plastic storage bags with zip lock tops and handles, that are much lighter to carry and the thin sides would let the snow melt faster
Alex, your vids are fascinating, addictive and thoroughly enjoyable! But I have a few questions that hopefully you (or someone else) can answer:
Where do you get your water? Or electricity? (I noticed an outlet in your dwelling in another video.) Do you use a nearby tree when nature calls, no matter the weather?
(Edited for clarity.)
yes, tree when Nature calls or pants when Bear comes
Yes, Alex 's cabin is off connection. The water he brings some bottles to drink and for the washing it's water from outside which he de freezes on his oven. For the electricity, he comes each time with a strong battery which is enough for his low power Led lamps
HARD WEATHER CONDITIONS, ALEX, BUT YOU SEEN ENJOYING AND GIVING SENSE TO SURVIVE IN THOSE CONDITIONS, GREAT, CHAMPION.
in Turkey, when people make a big oven or stove like yours, they always leave gap to fill it with broken glass and rock salt, then seal it make oven or stove on it,so it keeps heat for a long time.double exit doors with different direction is a good solution too.i like your dugout
Thank you for this great series. I have always wondered what stops rain water from collecting in your entryway and flooding your cabin.
It's built on nearly pure sand.
built over a layer of pallets.
Your sweater is awesome, stay warm out there. The cabin looks cozy. ❤
On one of my many sojourns into the bush I spent six weeks, February into March, on my own as was usual. During those weeks the temp. dropped to -45, most often days were below -25 and colder. I would make a simple snow shelter for the night with a candle for light and a bit of heat. . Since there was deep snow during that time I traveled on snowshoes, dragging my bit of gear wrapped in a tarp as I didn't have a sled or toboggan. Over those cold, dark weeks (in the far north days are short during winter) I seldom had a fire, usually one or two small fires each day, enough to boil water for tea and to make a bannock. By the time those six weeks were done I could feel my teeth getting loose as I was eating little. When April arrived I was happy as I was able to fish for Grayling to feed myself better. It is amazing how long we can go without much food or fire, even during bitter winter.
