    I lived aboard my 40 foot sailboat for six years, and had the pleasure of seeing this on numerous occasions. However, when you're out there and it's pitch-black, then look over your shoulder to see what's behind you, only to see a half dozen of these 'light trails' coming at you fast, it's a little unnerving.

    Thursday April 30th between Torrey Pines and Del Mar Beach was a beautiful show Mother Nature put on. Went back Friday night but the lines coming in weren't as large so not as impressive as the show the night before.
    Best I've seen it since the late 80's as a kid at the South Mission Beach Jetty.

    It’s because of Covid-19 the sea travel have slowed down so much that the bioluminescent organisms had a chance to come back
    World is a wonderful place, if only we could slow down the destruction

It is a harmful algae bloom, note that this video's description points out that the dolphins are swimming through a red tide area. Prior to the late '80s, the occurrences of red tide were rare. Read how this is not normal for the US west coast

      It's a rare, but normal red tide event. This one (in California) is not as harmful it can be in other parts of the world.
