However, when you're out there and it's pitch-black, then look over your shoulder to see what's behind you, only to see a half dozen of these 'light trails' coming at you fast, it's a little unnerving.

Thursday April 30th between Torrey Pines and Del Mar Beach was a beautiful show Mother Nature put on. Went back Friday night but the lines coming in weren't as large so not as impressive as the show the night before. Best I've seen it since the late 80's as a kid at the South Mission Beach Jetty.

It does. There’s a surfer video from San Diego last week. Waves breaking, or disturbing the plankton in any way lights them up.
