I kept expecting Benny to say "I'm thirsty", so Webb could reply, ""I'm Friday. Come over Saturday & we'll have a Sundae".

I was fortunate to see Jack perform in the early 70s ... stood next to him while we gave him a standing ovation...what a treat

Jack Webb was one of the best guests I have seen on the show. He has great comedic timing. I love him on Dragnet as well.

Thanks much for posting this. I was probably in bed at age 3 1/2 when this first was shown in 1959. But I bet my mother and father were watching this way back then. I don't believe I ever saw this episode. As a Jack Benny fan and I liked the "Dragnet" show a lot (the revival in '67), this was fun to watch. Jack Webb was very good. So was Mr. Benny. LOL

I have never seen Jack Webb in a comedy. Also, in later episodes the ads are integrated into the guest's songs.

I saw Herb Vigran casted in many TV shows and movies. He was usually cast as a hotel clerk, bartender, or shopkeeper. He has a very distinctive voice, easily identifiable even when he's in a radio program.

This episode aired about two years after the radio series ended, and less then four months after the TV series ended.. I think Jack was wanting to take a bit of a step away from the stoicism of Joe Friday, and to a certain extent revisit the comedy show he did out of San Francisco for a time in the mid-40s.. #mytwocents

Some may say this episode is a little not politically correct, but it's funny just the same. Don Wilson does a great China man. Recently, Trump said that Xi is Hollywood handsome. If that is so, bring back Charlie Chan with Xi in the starring role. North Korea's Kim Un Jong can play #1 son. I bet that Trump is yearning for a head of hair like Xi has.
