100% agree with your commentary. They have raised the bar. Now, the ball is in Harley's court.
I’m very excited to test ride the 101 scout. It looks fantastic
Amen to that.
It did seem very much like a mini chief, which make sense. When I customized my 20 scout, I put in many of these upgrades in years ago so it shows the demand.
After owning both Chief and Scout, I agree, it takes ques from both. I like that they unified the product line. However, Am I the only one who likes the style, stock exhaust, and engine of the original better?
It's natural not to like change. I bet later you'll like the new engine better....just give it time.
@@spacecoastz4026 Yeah, I'm sure the engine performance is great... I just like the design of the older one better.
I prefer the dual pipes (not stock) and the look of the original engine, but the bigger more powerful engine is appealing.
@@paulshearer9140 Yes the dual pipes were a staple as well as the "steam punk" engine IMO.
You're not the only one. I prefer the tank, the frame, the engine and the fenders of the original ones a lot more. Although The 2to1 pipe does look nice.
Cruise control the left makes sense. I have a Chieftain and the CC on the right is a pain
What would really help the consumer, would be a choice of handlebars, risers, and seat...of your choice at no charge for any of the Scout models. After all, who wants to purchase a bike only to have to change items to make it ergonomically correct for the rider?
If you're tall like me you are going to have to spend $$$ to make the bobber comfortable.
I would definitely like more options for the handle bars. With the older Scouts, they had plenty of different choices. With the new ones, they seem to only have risers, which I am not a fan of.
Amen to that. Have a mock up that one could quickly swap bars, foot controls,& seats…at least to get an idea. After buying all Indian brand accessories (saddlebags, 2 up stuff, racks, backrests, etc. for my 2016 Scout), it’d have been wonderful to be able to get my personal fit without spending another small fortune. I mean c’mon, I HAD TO swap out the lousy suspension & shitty Kenda tires asap. I’m just starting to try to fit it to my beat to hell 73 year old self
I put aftermarket 10 inch mini apes on my 2021 scout. I was cheaper than the options Indian offered. I had to go to a Harley dealership to sit on their bikes though to get an idea what would work.
I just love that it feels like everyone gets what they want. The guys like me that love all the cool tech can get it. And the guys who like less tech can have that and save some money in the process. I also love that it looks more comfortable. I just need to see a 6ft rider sitting on it to make my final decision. Looking at that sport variant for sure. Almost pulled the trigger on a Sportster S so this came just in time
Just be aware that the buying and ownership experience with an Indian is woeful compared to HD. I'm on a 22 Scout Bobber.
@@paulshearer9140 Is it because the dealerships are harder to find than HD or is there another reason ?
@@HoodedDragonSix I'm in Sydney Australia. There's only 1 Indian dealer left in the entire city, when I was buying my scout the dealers were unethical/ unprofessional and if you want spare parts they usually have to come from the US???
@@paulshearer9140 I've heard that a lot, actually. About the customer service being bad. Which is weird because HD has great customer service. I thought it was funny that HD Customer service is good but the riders get a bad rep and Indian is the opposite.
All very exciting, and kudos to Indian Motorcycle. But I feel compelled to add that your beard has become nothing short of majestic!!
LOL cheers Guy 😁
I have a 2021 Scout ABS - I'd never say the bike is underpowered as it is plenty fast. My biggest gripe after the terrible suspension that I've upgraded is the fuel tank size. They could have found a way to increase the size by more than 1/10 of a gallon. All in all, I'm super excited about this updated and look forward to test riding one.
Love the new scouts, pick of the bunch is definitely the 101 that would compliment my super chief greatly.
I think that they have done a great job in listening to consumers while designing these bikes. Almost makes me wish I'd held off buying my darkhorse. They seem to have almost integrated the chief and the scout. Options are a good choice for priceline of the bikes. I for one am happy it's a two into one exhaust system my 2020 scout exhaust was a bit chunky but still a great bike. Love all the indian lineups of bikes keeps from following the pack on certain brands(not that there is anything wrong with other bikes) keep your videos coming they're great thx
New engine design and esthetic are a huge improvement over the older Polaris octane design!
I really want ro know if they've managed to tuck the exhaust away a bit better this time. I've read of many sketchy moments when, the bit of the exhaust that curves around the bottom of the engine case, hits the ground in a right hander. If you look closely, in most reviews of the bike tou can see the exhaust is scaped at that point.
It has a new, larger engine...but they only increased the size of the fuel tank by 1/10 gallon. So, expect a lower range than previous year models, which is too little by about 30%.
I added BBK and 420 cams to my Scout 69 and saw no difference to mileage unless I wanted ride harder. Regular highway and city had no change in consumption.
Love the changes, also like the Super Scout and 101. Yes it does leap frog the Chied slightly but for most it comes down to the size I'd say. Still a bit small. Indian will be happy as it's a good gateway to their other motorcycles and competition to the Street Bob. Will be interesting to see how the new engine is however
As a fan of scallops, I like several of the new paint schemes. If my old V Star 1300 ever gives up the ghost or is damaged, I'll end up on a 101 Scout. I recently saw some of the new engines at the Indian dealership in Sturgis, and it looks nice, but still not the works of art the air-cooled mills are.
Love those Indian motorcycles❣️
They just keep getting better and better👍
The 2 to 1 was the one thing I didn't like that they changed. But your point about one exhaust end is valid.
Very good review, thanks for posting
I really like your no-nonsense way of presenting. Clearly, the Scout 101 is the attention getter, but I actually prefer the lines of the new Classic version with its full size fenders. In particular, I think the new frame and low profile radiator suit the retro look much better than the previous standard Scout. And you no longer have to pay $1,000 extra to get ABS here in the USA!
Thanks. I'm impressed and excited about these as well.
Loved everything about the new upgrades for the scout. I am like you I got a chief first. I’m sad to see the scout bobber 20 go. It was the most beautiful scout. I hope after a year they make the 1250 version.
The 1250 engine, traction control, and digital display makes me think this is them coming after the Sporter S. Pricing seems right in line as well and I'd 100% prefer the new Scout lineup over the Sportser S if I was looking in this price range. I almost want to pickup one of the new 101 Scouts over my current Chief Dark Horse to benefit from liquid cooling for tuning to higher HP and dual front disc brakes but will have to see more once it's officially released.
The aim is at the sportster s as they say its an evolution not a revolution ( aka sportster s revolution engine).
Listen bro the scout is in like a 1 vs 5 right now straight up they have to hit on more than that piece of crap brick on wheels the livewire. That thing costs a lot and this i think is less and is clearly way way way better. This thing costs some coin brother but it outclasses multiple bikes in its segment and even ones allegedly above it. Livewire sportster s nightster honda fury. Those all look like junk compared to these things.
Harley should offer OPTIONS on FOOT CONTROLS... I sat on the Sportster S and it should have mid or rear foot controls. I like that the Indian New bobber has a lot less electronic "Bells and Whistles". Indian liquid cooling and the Triumph bobber both you do not see the radiator so much... good on all these NEW scouts. Standard Scout Bobber with mid controls may be in the future as a 3rd bike in the stable.
As someone who bought the Rogue last month, I got buyers remorse after seeing the announcement. But after looking into the new Scouts more I would probably still get the Rogue. The new ones don't come with the mini ape hangers, I prefer the older scouts' frame design, the rear fender looks odd with those bolts sticking out so much and the engine doesn't look too great. It reminds me of HD Sportster S engine, but better. Although the tech is amazing. I would love the fuel gauge, cruise and traction control and maybe even the ride command dash.
With that said, they honestly did an amazing job with the new line up. More power, more tech, updated look. I wonder what they will do with the Chiefs
Great review thanks
Thanks Robert
I'd like to see the Challenger 108CI motor in a street bike, like a Power Plus version of the Indian Chief Sport or Scout 101 🇦🇺
Maybe used Scouts will have a good price on them, these new ines look nice for sure
They feel good to sit on for me
Cheers...nice vid with good overview.
Almost looks like I Dian is the new Sportster range..48, iron etc.
Kudos to what Indian have done with motor and electronics.
BUT who decided on the leaf blower exhaust ???
That's ugly as....like the Nightster.
Also where they used metzeller tyres then white walls add to the retro look.
Me, I'd just go the Scout cruiser with 8 inch mini apes.
I think these bikes have outdone HD sportsters.
I really like the Chief, but the 101 is really lookin good.
Thanks mate, great review as always. I agree, the new scouts look great, both in terms of aesthetics and specifications, time will tell. However, unless Polaris put some significant money into the Australian market in terms of training dealers and ensuring spare parts are readily available, Indian is doomed in this country. Anyone who owns and Indian, and has previously owned a HD will know exactly what I am talking about.
Will there be an option for two exhaust tips on the classic?
I bought a new Sportster S at the beginning of 2023 after test riding some Indians. Besides the short rear suspension travel I really liked the scout. But it didn't feel like it was worth the price considering the price difference to the Sportster S and its additional features. I greatly regret that decision today. I am tired of all the HD BS already, sportster was broken with less than 900mi on it. I traded a xdiavel and miss it. That's is the best "American" cruiser bike I have ever ridden although it is a 2016 ducati design. This new scout line up does make a lot of sense and might be my main option to replace the flawed H-D. I will never buy an H-D bike ever again in my life!
Sorry to hear you're having issues with the Sportster S, I'm a fan of that bike too.
Hope the ride confort has been improved. Design wise, I think that the aluminum frame looked more stylish and filled many gaps, the tubular frame is a bit boring.
Does the 111 HP Scout have the speed limiter set at 100 MPH ?
Well now I don’t know what to get lol had my heart set on a chief as the scout was underwhelming in the tech department for me but Indian have done an amazing job in listening to customers. Paul meant to ask mate when’s the on road test of the new exhaust sound? Keen to hear it while your riding
I've made modifications to the Rinehart's and I'm very happy where they're at now. I've covered the process and what I did with free videos over on Patreon. Look for PaulVanGaans on Patreon.
Everything I ever wanted for my Bobber 20 and then some. I'm not a fan of the aesthetics overall. The new Scout is basically a clone of the HD Nightster. They are nearly identical. The new engine looks flat and uninteresting. The on tank dash is a waste, they're not even connected, they are accessory switches. The Super Scout's saddle bags are not lockable, not a great choice for touring. There have already been reports that the exhaust will drag on the ground when making right hand turns. They have basically turned the Scout into every other cruiser on the market. But maybe I'll come around. Up close they may blow my socks off. But for now, I'm going to skip the new Scout for a couple of years and hopefully it'll start looking like an Indian again.
All I know is seeing you enjoy your Chief makes me super depressed and miss mine 😅
Also curious to see reviews noting the rev range. I’ve stayed with the old school air cooled low end grunt over having to rev out a bit. Excited to see where these fall.
what is the Indian scout 101 fuel range 2025
Thank you
Perhaps the imminent release of the Buell supercruiser made Indian finally offer a Scout with twin discs. Harley will have front up now and do the same with the Revolution engine Sportster. Thank you Buell for making tight fisted executives do what's right.
I am a Harley enthusiast, so it is hard for me to say that Harley is doomed. They have clearly lost new and younger riders and the entry level bike market competition with the new Sportsters, which are totally crap and unreliable, look ugly and are more expensive compared to other rivals in this category. I really like the Indian Scout 101, I think it is going to be a instant hit and best seller in this market.
Nice Chief/Honda Shadow clone! (Too bad about what's happened to the Scout.)
Check out the HD Nightster, the new Scout is basically it's clone.
Say what!? 😂😂😂
Scout Classic is almost perfect. If only it had 19 inch front wheel. Not a fan of fat tires.
Once you use the odometer for a couple of months you kinda know exactly how much fuel you have left when riding.
I actually prefer the look of the current model scout! Other than the radiator! 🤮
If the current model had an air cooled engine, i probably would have bought one...
Instead, i bought a chief...identical to yours paul!
Thanks for all your video's on yours! 👍
Always suspicious of a promo that goes out of its way to pretend one side of it's bike is not worth showing. And that's probably because it is a great letdown.
Sorry My friend, a "bigger tank"? Sorry, it is the same 13L tank.
To expensive might as well get a street bob, that radiator alone makes the street bob look cleaner, i try to hate on hd but they have cruiser look on lock
114 street Bob meet 116 chief.
The Indian Scout is starting more and more to looking like a Japanese knock off.
It’s getting close and further away from competing against a Harley.
It brings me memories of the failed Polaris Vision.
I have a scout and an octane now. At this point the only thing the scout has over the chief is the liquid cooled motor. If they made a fairing less challenger the market would be flooded with people coming for the full sized cruiser with sporty engine configurations
