    In this video I show you how I approach a circular wood deck / platform for geodesic domes, yurts, performance stage, porch, glamping, bell tent etc. I show why my design is superior in efficiency, ease of assembly and construction, versus more common yurt platform designs out there. It is an intuitive design utilizing a concentric, reciprocal framing pattern. The only downside is that once you're done you won't want to cover it up with flooring!
    All components can be cut exactly the same, allowing you to pre cut components before heading to the build site. The girder beams, once assembled, can be used to pinpoint post locations without ever breaking out batter boards, string lines, or complicated math.
    If you have any questions please feel free to ask in the comments.
    Thanks,
    Johnny

    So glad you finally came up on my feed. We live in a Pacific Domes 30' dome and man I wish I would have know about your site. We need to upgrade, obviously. Hoping to glean as much information as I can from you. Love our dome but seriously it isn't wood and it perspires pretty bad in the winter. Thank you for putting this out there!

    Can you make a deck pack on your website for people who already have a yurt or dome but need a deck for them? I also see you only have domes on the website and not yurts, and I need a yurt to make it through the extreme cold in winter where I am. I would have certainly purchased your deck plans or kit if you had them! And if you sold a yurt pack I might have gone for that too!

    Hi Johnny, I'm curious to find out what you are using for ground screws on your next project? I've been researching helical pile options for a while now. Would love to see what you are going to use for the 5000 lbs support rating for each screw.
    Thanks,
    Joshua

    Hello!! I have a 5m (16.4 foot dome) and I am wondering if I am able to use this plan design to make my platform. These plans are for 15, 20, and 23 foot design. Would some extra deck around the dome be an issue for water getting under the dome if we built a 20 foot platform I guess is the question. I really appreciate the simplicity of this design and I hope to be able to use it. Thank you so much

    • @trilliumdomes
      @trilliumdomes  Před rokem +1

      Hey there! So it kind of depends on your climate as far as the water seeping in… I personally would want there to be as little overhang as possible for that reason.
      If you get the plans let me know, I can give you an exact number to use to scale the plans to your exact size

    • @trilliumdomes

      I haven’t had anything engineered but I follow span tables for the designation of timber sizes. You can always double up joists and increase the member heights if you’re concerned about span / loads!

      The acorn sauna zome has deck plans included. The 16’ dome just has a base layout. While you certainly could put the zome on the dome base, if you wanna perfect fit it would be wise to do one specifically for that. Some folks like the deck to be a bit bigger though

    • @trilliumdomes
