      basa364 - No worries mate. It’s funny isn’t it. I always thought it was old school - but then again a lot of my fishing is old school. Dead simple and really effective. I used to make up my 2 hook flappers that way for fishing for dabs and flounders in my youth. Like I say you can make them out of heavier mono so they really stand off well. And even have a lighter hooklength looped on at the end.

The twisted blood loops are good for keeping down on the tangles. The heavier the mono the more they “stand off”. I plan to do more wrecking vids when the weather/work allows. Wrecking at anchor or wreck on the drift?

    Is wool ever used to fish for cephalopods? Eel anglers used to use lengths of wool instead of, or in combination with hooks. I'm wondering if short lengths of wool, tied the the lure, would be effective?

    • @TheFishLocker
      @TheFishLocker  Před 5 lety +1

      Brian Sharp - It’s my understanding that the olden day anglers fishing for eels used to thread big lobworms onto the wool. And fish it in a bundle so when the eel bit into the worms it’s teeth cost fouled up in the wool fibre. Not sure if it would be string enough for a squid. Worth an experiment anyway. 👍🏻🦑

    I know there's a roll with the boat but at about 13:00 the rod behind looked to be bouncing, not being there does deceive. Interesting video as not everywhere you can fish for those or I should say it's not practice to fish for them.

      you can catch squid at any part of the day and all days of the year. Find leveled seabed, big concentration of small non-pelagic fish or attract the small fish, and squids will be/come there. They dont like warm sea, so in winter you can catch them in shallows and in summer you can catch them in depth. Atleast thats here in croatia. But since there is always cold, you can catch squids under 40m thruout whole year, i suposse

    Great video im yet to catch a squid. Would this technique work from piers? I think I would struggle to keep it off the ground and get the movement due to the current. Do you think there is a way I could modify the rig to get the bouncing whilst having the weight on the ground?

    • @TheFishLocker
      @TheFishLocker  Před 5 lety +1
