As a bit of a Viper fanboy, surely that's Khosrau?
I thought the give away was the overwhelming reliance on macro (especially the 4 TC boom in game 4), and the quick walls. I feel like he was trying not to do too much, or with stone, to throw us off a bit, but the boxing of units and the last minute, looked like Viper, and he just couldn't help himself.
Not super sure on Sigismund. I doubt Yo, Imperial didn't seem clean enough for me. I know he sometimes has tornament series where he might not turn up, especially LAN, but I just have more confidence in Yo generally, an absolutist beast late game. Not super to date with Heartt, maybe, Sitaux maybe but less confident, but it didn't feel like a top 8 player to me.
I do hope it is Viper v Daut in the Ro8. It was heartbreaking to see Daut lose the NAC series even as a Viper fanboy, and I'd be happy for The Lord to get his revenue and push on.

Khosrau is definitely strong enough to be considered as the Viper. However, I'm not sold yet.
If it is the Viper then I am not satisfied with his picks and bans. He banned the maps Quarry, Bypass, Cross, when he should have banned Excavation and Mudflow. A lot of the underdogs would be first picking Excavation, and both Excavation and Mudflow are too chaotic. It's too risky. I don't like it.
His civilization picks were alright with Japanese and Malians, but he banned Malay. However, it's also possible his opponent knew it was the Viper and took away the Portugese and Bohemians picks.
The second game was really weird. He was in a winning position with a higher score, but then he started just playing passive. So it could be the Viper having fun while trying to hide his identity, but there is another player who has a bad habit of winning early and then relaxing, sitting back and losing.
My guess is Jordan.
@@DarkPrinceNeo It could be Jordan, but I'm more towards Viper. The small flashy things makes it more like Viper such as the trap of the camels and quick-gating at last second. Also the game 4 final castle positions in particular, securing "empty" areas which have no apparent significance at the time, paving the map control for late game. I usually only see this kind of castles positions in Viper's tournament games.
@@tcsiyic3584Yeah I'm looked over the games again and changed my mind back to Viper. His macro is just too strong, and the islands map pick was good.
I just don't agree with leaving Excavation and Mudflow open in the map draft for the 1st round, and the second game was too passive.
Hopefully we get to see him power through the next round and completely dominate. I remember watching Hidden Cups from years ago and watching him stop holding back and just unleash everything in the finals. It gave me chills.

Arson is the giveaway for me. Viper researched it many times in NAC5.
Sigismund's BP just screams Yo. Celts Romans Berbers Bohemians which only Yo is comfortable playing all 4 of them in a S-tier tournament; bans Aremenians Chinese Khmer because he doesn't play them; picks hybrid maps; picking Hindustanis to gambit a counter to Mayans in Arabia which Yo considered a free-win match-up... and the playstyle too. 2nd & 3rd pick Italians and Portuguese was also a good attempt to secure a civ-win on Islands, but then Yo got matched against possibly the Viper in round of 16... Would be new to see Yo playing in qualifiers next time 11

How is Yo in every series so far?
Khosrau comes from Viper's school of AoE2 strategy. That is, play your game and make your opponent a participant, boom with little army into a power spike. Apart from Viper, I can see Jordan doing the same thing, but my bet is on Viper.
I think the micro wasn't looking much like Jordan, right?
I'm super enjoying watching these as someone who is new to spectating AoE2 and has never actually seen any of the players play before.
Commentators: "Yo really likes Romans, it might be Yo."
Me: "Well then it's OBVIOUSLY Yo!"
Commentators: "But remember it could really be anyone. All of these players are amazing in their own way."
Me: "Of course, you'd have to be some kind of idiot to assume it was Yo just based on that alone!"
Commentators: "Frankly I could see shades of Tatoh in this demo ship play."
Me: "Never a doubt in my mind it was Tatoh. Called it from the very start."
Around 19:15 they talk about a game in the qualifiers between Valas and someone else they can't remember -- is there a cast or video of that game available anywhere?

On hidden forts I think it's deceiving when you compare the resources collected. Even though the player that didn't take the rhinos might have collected more, that player would have had to spend lots of it into farms, which is then not available to them anymore. So the one with the rhino food, actually has more resources to their disposal.

I think this was the sleeper set of the Ro16. What an unlucky draw for Mr Yo.
Why is t90 surprised, that the player taking the rhinos doesnt have mire collected res? I mean the advantage of taking Rhinos is not primarily the speed you are gathering. Especially on this map, where you have a lot of idle walking, when you lure the rhino. It is more about not having to invest into farms that early. If both players collected the same res, the player who took 7 rhinos still has way mire res, because he didnt need to drop as many farms. So if both players collected the same res, the rhino player is still in a better spot.

Slam not playing is sad, but Slam casting is a nice consolation.
Kinda sad my top pick (pre start of HCV) lost, but im kinda impressed by the winner! The winner of the first match is still on though! and hopefully alpaca destroys in the next set! (people already done with the tournament and here i am not even done with round of 16).
