My friends and I saw David at Disneyland with his family. For a second we were going to engage, but seeing him with his kids made us stop. "Let's just let them have fun at Disneyland." One of us said. It was a magic moment, like a hunter seeing a Unicorn and just letting it go because it was too beautiful.
" It was a magic moment, like a hunter seeing a Unicorn and just letting it go because it was too beautiful." I think that's a very apt and beautiful way of putting it. The unicorn (or DT in this case) is something to cherish, to keep safe and the fact that it exists alone makes the encounter a wonderful moment. At least for me. I don't need validation by having a piece of paper with a name on it, or a shifty picture on my phone. I sometimes think the best imaginable encounter with DT would be if I could... I don't know, do something nice for him, like open a door or pick something up he dropped and just NOT react to him being David Tennant. I might grin like a lunatic, but... yeah. Be nice. Just that. (if it would lead to him feeling good about it, too, I'd be on the moon) I've seen actors (small-time, but still known on national television) and not reacted apart from watching them be just normal humans (waiting for a train, looking into shop-windows), so I'm fairly confident I woudl not turn into a crazy fanperson. Once I saw Sting at a museum, and a schoolmate went over and asked if he were Sting (he said "no", but ... yeah, it was ), and I wanted to die from shame. There's someone out wanting to see pictures, or see a show or be out with their kids just... let them enjoy that! Don't bother them. Memorize the moment in your mind, it'll never go away! Just be nice!
When I lived in L.A., my relatives told me that you ignore the celebrities. But even so, be polite and remember they are at their workplace so will be busy. If I happened upon a celebrity in a restaurant, shop, street etc., - that's their private time so I'd just smile to let them know I'd clocked them and move on.
Be polite and use your common sense. Ask yourself if this is the appropriate time and place to say hi, and if they haven't got time to stop and chat don't take it personally. The chances are they probably do have somewhere they need to be, just like anyone with a job there'll be demands on their time. If you find yourself tongue tied, then just admit it and apologise; most people will be gracious and appreciate the honesty and will try to put you at ease. Don't gush too hard about their entire career, but maybe pick out a few personal highlights to compliment them on: The entire point is to keep it light, casual and undemanding so they don't feel like they're deer caught in the headlights of a speeding car. Then ask them for a photo or an autograph if you feel the need, but again don't expect it, thank them for their time and then wish them a good time. Then proceed to walk off, with a smile on your lips and a bounce in your step for the rest of the day.
Well technically they already did. They did 3 Doctor Who audios at the end of 2017, following 'unseen' adventures that canonically occurred during their time when Tennant was the Doctor. Still not quite the same as seeing them visually together again though, but it's something. :)
Only knew him from Jessica Jones series as a villain, Killgrave. He was so good with his creepiness sense of controlling someone. The joy in his face when someone helplessly, can't do anything.
I have so much respect for david tennant such an amazing actor and person, i have never met him but i have seen him at comic con, i didn't think to pre-book tickets to meet him and with i did but he seems like such a kind person in real life
Hearing about him describing the warmth and happiness people get from that show, I fully related to. I live in the US, so although I don't get that full feeling of pride and ownership to the show, I enjoy it as much as anyone can. This is why me and a group got together to start an Audio Drama, because Doctor Who just opened up this big world to us with so many far reaching capabilities, and it really impacted everything we saw and did, so much so we decided to pay homage, and start making our own stories and adventures. Always, much love to you David, and I hope that people enjoy our upcoming audio drama.
I liked his turn with Olivia Colman in " Broadchurch. " The nice aspect of playing Dr. Who is that the actors don't become typecast by the role like " Superman " did for Reeves. I dig his accent, too!
I loved David Tennant as the Doctor. I saw another comment on here that voices it perfectly, his Doctor is so good at getting emotions out of you. He encapsulates the feelings so well through tone and word choice and body language and facial expressions. Not only that, but he was a funny yet "darker" Doctor. What comes to mind is Planet of the Ood when the president or whoever turned into one. He jumped on how he was deceived and even gave him a taunt or two, but by the end it was a grimace and nothing else. Stuff goes on in the universe, and some are more deserving than others, at least that's how I'd put it. And he sets that so well. He's the only Doctor I re-watch. Amazing actor, amazing man.
I like Doctor Who (and my youngest son LOVES it), but honestly, I think it would be awful to be famous, esp. for a woman - you could never go out w/o makeup or in a shirt with a stain on it or with your roots not done or tired or just needing pick up some milk at the grocery. David Tennant is great (my favorite Doctor), but I cannot even imagine the stress of trying to live a normal life where everyone knows who you are. He's so gracious :)
His podcast conversations on the topic with Olivia Colman and Jennifer Garner are really interesting. Poor Jennifer, especially, who gets absolutely hounded by paparazzi whenever she goes out.
I'm not sure that the Universe could handle them both being in the same room at the same time....that much Light and Goodness can't be contained by mere walls.
David is definitely the best Doctor for me, and how I understood from people he is probably the most likable Doctor for others as well, he just has some sympathy, and he seems the most human-being alien in the show, which is a paradox, but it is what people love in him.

I just love him and would love to see him and Billie piper reunite for something
Well technically they already did. They did 3 Doctor Who audios at the end of 2017, following 'unseen' adventures that canonically occurred during their time when Tennant was the Doctor. Still not quite the same as seeing them visually together again though, but it's something. :)
Love to have the opportunity to see the world through David's eyes in some way. Very interesting person.
His adorable adorable natural Scottish accent by itself is the best thing in the universe.
Only knew him from Jessica Jones series as a villain, Killgrave. He was so good with his creepiness sense of controlling someone. The joy in his face when someone helplessly, can't do anything.
Please come back to doctor who David!!!! It sucks so bad without you.... best doctor ever!!!!
What a great interview. And a reminder that humility is one of the great virtues.
For me he is "the real" doctor. he just put so much authentic emotions in the character . that was outstanding
This guy imo is the best doctor, never will be a greater one.
#4?!
@@georgerigberg4335 I'm watching Doctor Who again but this time from the beginning. I'm so excited for when I get to Tom Baker.
He played a major part in making Jessica Jones good. Such a captivating antagonist
I have so much respect for david tennant such an amazing actor and person, i have never met him but i have seen him at comic con, i didn't think to pre-book tickets to meet him and with i did but he seems like such a kind person in real life

This meme needs to fucking die
@@lefr33man the meme has died, it's just kids that play Fortnite 24/7 who comment it on everything
Wow. What a humble, awesome guy. I see why y’all like him so much.
My fav doctors were him and Matt Smith
Says a lot that David feels vulnerable because many celebrities do feel powerful. In addition it boost their egos.
I'm getting the impression that the nicest thing you can do to a celebrity is ignore them.
: God he's so charismatic and he just seems soooo nice, I just love him, best doctor ever
The perfect disguise: A bad 10th Doctor cosplay
Delighted at the use of "churlish" in conversation.
My favorite Doctor Who and a brilliant actor.
"When you became Doctor Who..." Great start....
Such a wonderful human being.
Best Doctor since the 2005 revival. Thanks for the memories!
David was brilliant in Jessica Jones. It's nice to see that he is actually a nice guy.
It’s lovely to hear him talk about Billie
He just seems like a class act
drinking game: everytime the interviewer says "right" you gotta take a shot
Right. He was in mid flow, and I found myself thinking, "Just let him talk!!".
Bad idea. You would die from alcohol poisoning. :)
I'm drunk!
Where’s the funeral at bois?
I blacked out
I like Doctor Who (and my youngest son LOVES it), but honestly, I think it would be awful to be famous, esp. for a woman - you could never go out w/o makeup or in a shirt with a stain on it or with your roots not done or tired or just needing pick up some milk at the grocery.
Amazing. Human. Being.
I will watch anything David Tenant is in..........gorgeous!
Have you seen The Secret Smile?
He is a treasure.
Tennant and Keanu are actors I really would like to meet because they're both so nice from everything I've seen of them.
I'm not sure that the Universe could handle them both being in the same room at the same time....that much Light and Goodness can't be contained by mere walls.
He will always be my favorite and the best Doctor Who💖
Most underrated interviewer and show ever
CERTAYN, DOOOONT KNOUUUUW, EMPOWERRRRING. I LOVE HIS ACCENT!!!!
Oh my god I love that man
He seems like such an amazing person 😱😱 !!!
these are great interviews. not just for entertainment but getting to know the 'celebrity' more.
"I'm not gonna give away a disguise."
Unlike your successor who casually talks on talkshows about what disguise he wears to escape paparazzi.
@Andy Young I hope it for him, because his old one is now useless.
I thought it was funny when he says "I'd like to know what the disguises are like", as if David was going to tell him.
Oh Mr Tennant I adore you 🥰🥰
JEESSSIIIIICCCAAA!!
His voice is amazing
My fav actor right here. Btw, in the good old days Dr Who was on Saturday nights. Full prime time 😁
David will always be my favourite doctor
My Favourite Doctor and Actor
Second fave doctor. Absolutely digg Tennant's Doctor and his talent.
Doctor Who just has a warm feeling about it. I remember that feeling.
David is definitely the best Doctor for me, and how I understood from people he is probably the most likable Doctor for others as well, he just has some sympathy, and he seems the most human-being alien in the show, which is a paradox, but it is what people love in him.
Very interesting interview. Very deep and real.
The only word for David's beard is Fantastic
My favourite doctor, along with John Hurt, the war doctor.
One of the best doctors ever!!
dt is an absolute delight
