Met him when when I worked at the airport. He was standing in the middle of a really long line at Arrivals, never having asked for anyone to escort him or bring him to the front. So sweet and down-to-earth. I jokingly told him he needed to develop his diva skills! (And, yes, he should have been nominated for an Oscar for Rocketman!)
@Farmgirl I agree on your Oscar nomination point.. it'd been at least a decade since I'd watched a film that caused me to weep. I've adored this actor ever since watching Kingsman (I & II). And his role in Rocketman solidly placed him in my personal top 100 actors.
And _WTF!?!_ my husband & I hadn't heard about Ray Liotta passing.. I've admired his body of work for thirty years.
@@St.Linguini_of_Pesto I escorted Joaquin Phoenix to the plane one night. Bit of chatting and I mentioned that I was so disappointed Taron had not been nominated. I pointed out that I suspected it was because Rami Malek had won the year before for playing Freddy Mercury and the Academy didn't want to nominate two similar roles (i.e. rock star bios) two years in a row. And I added that Rami had done a wonderful impression. But Taron had done a brilliant acting job - different! He really deserved the nod. Joaquin said he'd spoken to Taron about it recently and energetically agreed with me which was very gracious since he was nominated (and won) shortly after that! I was very impressd with Joaquin's generosity and kindness - there I was praising someone I felt gave an Oscar-worthy performance to someone who was in the running!
@@Farmgirl-iy9zc You’ve met Taron and Joaquin?! You must have an interesting job. Is there anyone else you’ve met that you’d like to share? Joaquin strikes me as an intelligent and intense person. I’m not sure I would have been able to be as level headed as you were around Taron. I would have 100% tripped over my own feet. He seems like a very down to earth and kind guy, besides being easy on the eyes 😉

This might be a weird comment to make, but it’s so sweet to hear how his voice has gotten deeper since the first Kingsmen. As a 27-year old, it’s nice to see people in my age group “grow up” with me. 20’s aren’t easy haha.

Whoa… Taran is a great actor. He is so twitchy and slightly nervous here, crossed legs and more delicate mannerisms, but he plays such a swaggery, charismatic American dude perfectly in Black Bird. It is hard for me to believe it is the same person.

LMMFAO 🐑🐑🐑 oh no, I'm recalling a very weird local news bit that I'd heard about 23 years ago, involving: a very perturbed ewe; an adult male human wearing assless leather pants; a gag ball; blindfolds; a shocked farmer; a phone call; law enforcement patrol vehicle "tippy-toeing" with _no_ lights (head & roof); 3 - 4 faces watching in puzzled but amused disbelief; and the mysterious bald patches that had been appearing on the aforementioned ewe.
Great guy, met him in Dubai many years ago at a conference. Down to earth.

Man that is awesome. From what Taron is saying it sounds like Liotta was really into the character, and to have him not only break character and go into his other character from Goodfellas and say that line has to be one hell of compliment. Maybe even a teachable moment form actor to actor. It's nice that Taron appreciated it.

NERDY VENT:
Standard American dialects don't shift through vowels as much as others, and we go full-on into vowels. "Cat" has the same sound technically, but the a is softer in more British dialects. It's easier to pick up that difference from the English POV than the American being a "brighter" sound the difference stands out easier.
He also makes it seem like dialects are just about changing an individual words pronunciation, but there's placements, melodies, and rhythms to round out an accent. Standard American doesn't really have much specific nuance to it, being more based on the individual and their environment (I have like no melody when I don't have energy, but am very melodic with energy+excitement) A few of our words' pronunciations have also changed throughout the 20th century, as reading turned to listening.
Please someone tell her that Welsh people are also British citizens! 😂😂😂
