Please note that these posts do NOT necessarily reflect the official forecasts of the National Hurricane Center (NHC), and should not be interpreted as such. Please refer to the NHC when making decisions, and heed the advisories and evacuation statements of your local National Weather Service Office and emergency management officials.
Dr. Levi Cowan creates videos and blogs pertaining to tropical cyclones, primarily hurricanes in the Atlantic Ocean. Posts occasionally concern other, non-tropical weather events around the world. Dr. Cowan has a Ph.D. in meteorology from Florida State University.
Excited, but also not looking to having you back on the feed 😅
"Gyre" mentioned within the first 10 seconds, this is going to be a wild season
Pattern Switch from El Niño year to La Niña year
Thank you for all you do for us, Dr. Cowan! TropicalTidbits is my go to channel for hurricane forecasting! 🙂
Lots of rain in southern Louisiana the past days. Thanks for the update Levi.
stay safe fren !
It's wild that we're the dry portion of the Gulf with daily storms 😆
As always, your explanation and graphics expertly drill down on the essence of what's happening in the Tropics. These videos are a great help to many people, including aspiring meteorologists like myself!
Thanks Levi!
Looks at calendar... "oh no, already?"
We are getting light rain along with overcast skies here in San Antonio Texas.
Light rain in the Houston area. Seems this thing just grazed us today. Kept the temps down and I'm A OK with that.
Really appreciate your updates! I remember your postings from way back in the Weather Unground days. Anyways factual, to the point, and oh so understanable. Thank you Levi!
Tropical Tiddies are back!
Thank you so much, I really appreciate your up dates, I live in the Yucatan peninsula on the Caribbean side and I am always in the lookout for your up dates, with out a doubt the best of them all.
Great report again Dr. . Thank you for the decade
Glad you're back. This looks to be an active season. I'm thrilled that you'll be the one keeping me (all of us) informed.
Thanks doc ! Best pre-mortem analysis I've seen thus far on these two weird systems in the western gulf.
Thank you Levi. 🏆
babe wake up levi just dropped
Fantastic update as always, thank you!
Thank you so much for the updates you post on youtube Dr. Levi
Thanks Levi! 💜🌀
The gyre rain blob stayed barely east of Houston just long enough to let me get in 3 hrs of tennis 🎾 tonight... Thanks Blob
Love your videos. Thank you for the great information. Please keep it up this year.
You are the best Dr. Levi! GO NOLES 🎉🎉
Levi
Thank you for always letting us know what is going on ❤
Have a bless day 🙏
take a sip every time he says "propagate"
Definitely overloaded a little bit 😆
Absolute best in the business for information. Look no further than this channel for best analysis all summer long to protect life and property
Thank you for the forecasts and analysis. I'm in Ocean City NJ, I've evacuated for Irene and Sandy. I keep an eye on theses storms and the information you provide is much appreciated.
It’s unbelievable and scary how these storms turn in a way to try to form huge hurricanes.
Thank You, Dr. Levi!😊
Thx very much for the update one love ❤️💚💛
Thank you
Ty from Mississippi gulf coast
ya know its storm season when i hear your voice.
I hope Phoenix benefits, even if it's cooling down!!
Thanks for the update!
Thanks, Levi. We sure could use some rain. Well, at least our end of the county. The north end has been getting lots of rain. We have gotten 1.82 inches in the last 31 days, and it was about 1 inch the couple of months prior. So, we could at least use the moisture from these blips!
We got flooded out by it this morning, it just dumped on us for almost 5 hours!
Where are you located?

The lawnmower pattern is called boustrophedon.
Does anyone know why he pronounced Gyre like that? I've never heard anything say it that way and I work in Earth Sciences Academia. Excited to have Dr. Cowan back for this new season!
So not expecting too much but still a very big situation
Curious as to why this system hasn’t tried to form a more northern center since the main one has been pretty naked all day
well it's at least something finally happening. Looks like a very weak sauce storm
