This is a cleanable automotive air filter. The filter material gets oiled with a special lightweight oil that you need to replace after cleaning. On a car it would suck air in through the filter, rather than blowing out. In normal use the outside of the filter gets dirty and it's relatively easy to clean. The oil attracts more dust than the plain filter would catch without the oil. I'm not sure how easy it ill be to clean the inside of the filter.

Hi Dove. One DIY'er to another...I think you did a fine job of fabricating a solution to your situation.👍🏽

You could literally just buy activated carbon likely and fill that filter with it. That's all the Ftool filter is, an activated carbon filter that gets rid of the smells.

The car filter is just a dust/ dirt filter that’s why it’s oiled, but I can see the carbon really helping. I also wonder how the filter will act running in reverse. A car sucks air in you’re blowing air out.

It's all an experiment at this point. Lol.

I really like your own F1 Purifier, but before I buy the items to make one for myself :) Did you find any cheap alternative purifier to the F1 on Amazon? Thank you for sharing with us this amazing video

You're welcome, and thank you. I was able to find the F1 purifier on Amazon, but it's proprietary. There's no generic form that I saw. That's why I had to come up with this alternative.

Great solution. Perhaps you can manufacture and sell those filters to other engravers. The rain on your metal roof is relaxing.

Yes, it is relaxing. I don't think that's my lane for a business income. I just wanted to share the information for other people who can't afford xTool's air filter. The whole point is for people to save money. 👍

You want air to come out. You don’t want the smell; when you eliminate the smell you are essentially eliminating the smoke.

Yes, that was my aim. I'm very happy with the results.
