      You mentioned a 1 inch piece of PT are you just using a 1x a piece of 5/4 or did you rip down a 2x to get a 1 inch exact? I watched the other video but it just jumps to you drilling the hole and already have the board cut and painted.

    This makes it even harder to decide the best setup. Been debating on an enclosed trailer set up (7'x12') or something like this. They cost the same and both have their upsides and downsides.

    Looks good buddy I run the exact setup but I built my own deck system so the drawers are longer in taller.. nothing I can't do out of that truck

  • @realworldcarpentryremodeli5868

    It’s pretty awesome as far as pickup trucks go. I guess if you need to pick up plywood you can put it on the racks. I really like the security aspect of it.

      Thank you and yes I have thought about this but have not figured out the perfect solution yet. I am wanting to put some kind of retractable cover on top of boxes for exactly the tools you mentioned and the capability to retract and put large items in back when necessary. If you have any good suggestions I would like to hear them and if I discover a solution I will post.

    The main difference is mine doesn't have the two side drawers pull outs.. looks a little narrow can you get a sheet of plywood/ drywall in there?

  • @Buldingstuff
    @Buldingstuff Před 2 lety

    Had this rack setup on my dodge I don't recommend it if you do heavy construction. Put 30 sticks of 3/8 bar and it about snapped the front of the rack off welded rack is better option for heavy loads. But everything else here is great.

  • @permanentledlighting
    @permanentledlighting Před 3 lety +2

    Ladder rack is great. Tool boxes came damaged and pull out welds broke. The angle for boxes you have to put tools in boxes or tools fall when you open them. The shocks that half the door up last a couple years. When you need to replace them it's a 100 buck per side. Buy the rack but not the boxes

    Like the video and walkthrough. You should make a 1 year in video. Hows the drawer slides, Does it get tougher with weight and wear. And how the lock mechanism look? Hopefully a worthy locking system

    Great set up.. couple questions what’s the distance between the boxes. And how are the dimensions of the stow away drawer. Depth and width

    • @anthonylcrane
      @anthonylcrane  Před 2 lety

      Boxes are 38 inches apart. The stowaway drawers are almost 8’ x 8” x 6”. I currently have one that is full of every single screw nail and fastener that I need for any job. The other side I have levels, caulking guns, and every type of caulk and sealant needed for all jobs. I also have Drywall material to fix and patch walls.

    How wide is in between the boxes, wondering if theres still 4 feet for sheets of plywood or drywall. Im looking to get something very similar.

    • @anthonylcrane
      @anthonylcrane  Před 3 lety

      Between the boxes in the bed it is 38 inches. This does not allow for you to lay them flat. You can remove the back bar on ladder rack and easily slide sheets in at an angle. Also you can put them on top of the ladder rack and use the straps. I hope this helps and let me know if you have any other questions. Also I have posted the video on how to construct this setup. Here is the link: czcams.com/video/5DBDoo-9nr4/video.html

  • @daniellozana9953
    @daniellozana9953 Před 3 lety

    Oh sorry one more question. Would you be able to use the stowaway system without the ladder rack? Because I’m noticing that you have the back of the side boxes being supported from the ladder rack.

    • @anthonylcrane
      @anthonylcrane  Před 3 lety +1

      Yes, I believe you can set that up without the ladder racks. You just have to put a leg going down to the bed so that the box is supported. If you’re going to use it with Decked you will probably have to customize your leg and set it on the decked system to be supported properly in the back of truck. I hope this helps and let me know if you have any other questions.

    hey - i have the very same set up on my truck minus the 38 " box. I added

    • @anthonylcrane
      @anthonylcrane  Před 2 lety

      I have thick vinyl cover that I am installing button on the boxes and it will waterproof the back give me a covered section while still having ability to open boxes.
