Matawaia was the first Marae I ever went to. I lived in Maromaku and spent quite a lot of time in Matawaia with a friend from there. This brought back a lot of good memories and made the hair on my arms stand up. Love it

Matua huaki puanaki was my kapahaka tutor at aranui high down in otautahi from 2000 to 2004 his mum whaea tihi and his papa matua wiremu was also my teachers
It brings tears to my eyes listening to this song so much memories as a child. My name is Rahiri Cooper my grandad name is Tehira Pani Cooper and my nana is Stella Dawn Cooper (blondy) known by many kaumatua and whaea. The day Tehira died was a massive heart aech for me as i didnt find out untill the day before he was buried i wasnt able to make it to matawaia until 1:30 pm the next day as i am living in hamilton.
The part that hurt me the most was that i wasbt able to make it.
