    Will definitely be using these tips! I wish I'd used you as my referring teacher! I just used the first account I came across, which was a far more over the top, exaggerated teacher. Nothing wrong with that at all, just doesn't really mirror my personality. Grateful to have found your channel!

    I am brand new! My paperwork is still in the process of approval. I made a “hurry up” video that I would like to redo. How do we go about accessing the video to redo? My 10 year old granddaughter is a whiz at iMovie, so I think I will get her to film and edit it!
    Btw, I also had a mentor who is a friend (I adore her), but I didn’t realize how important the mentoring process would be. I totally credit your uTube videos for learning how to teach the VIPKID! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! (Plus, I love your eye makeup! 🥰)

    I am a brand new hire and just made my "cookie cutter" video yesterday following the script and 15 second time frame they told me to. Your video is over a minute long ... do we not have to stick to the 15 second length? I'd LOVE to add more about myself and show myself teaching as well! It just didn't seem possible to do in 15 seconds. Is there a time limit on the video then?

    • @AngelaSilva
      @AngelaSilva  Před 5 lety

      The shorter the better - if it drags on the parents will click away to the next one, but I think the restriction is more about size than duration because mine was approved and is effective. If it's coherent so it doesn't seem long I think 1 min max is okay.

  • @lz738
    @lz738 Před 5 lety +1

    To work for VIPKid, do I have to be a clown or entertainer? I've taught for years, but I'm not an actress or performer. I'm a straightforward person who is good with kids, and nurturing, but it is not my personality to be super animated or goofy. Also, it seems like a lot of people spend money on puppets and other toys. Is that required? Does everyone have to so the same things?

    • @AngelaSilva
      @AngelaSilva  Před 5 lety +4

      Unfortunately I do not have a background in clowning or professional entertaining, although it would be useful! Teaching a child through a computer, in their own home and to whom we're only a character on a screen, requires enthusiasm and engagement to keep their attention. This video is an exaggerated example because it's for my profile, used for marketing. Each teacher can decide which props they want to use - I only use what I have on hand. There is a standard teaching style for VIPKID that the students and their parents expect, it is effective, but each teacher is encouraged to utilize their own talents and strengths to teach and bond with the students. If you'd like to see an actual lesson with a student here is a class that will show you what an actual lesson looks like: czcams.com/video/79qJN5OP14o/video.html
      If you're interested in applying I'd be happy to help you! You can email me at angelamasilva123@gmail.com

    • @lz738
      @lz738 Před 5 lety

      Oh, I hope you didn't think I was calling you a clown! I was not. I'm just saying that in all the "how to teach at VIPKid" videos I've watched, everyone seems super animated with lots of hand gestures and exagerated facial expressions. And everyone uses toys and puppets, which I do not have around my house, because my son is grown now. I know that's not how I teach, so I was wondering if there was room at the company for variation in teaching style, or if everyone pretty much has to act the same way. (Hope I did not offend you - not my intention.)

    • @AngelaSilva
      @AngelaSilva  Před 5 lety +4

      I don't get offended :) Most examples are exaggerated - if you can find footage from actual classes you will see more variety. There are over 60,000 teachers, some in their 20's and some in their 70's, and all ages in between. All teachers have their own style and talents to offer.

    • @FeliciaFollum
      @FeliciaFollum Před 5 lety

      @@lz738 I think too the animation comes from teaching students with no English. There is a specific technique called TPR. I teach ESL to adult refugees and it is incredibly helpful. I also teach and speak sign language which is incredibly helpful. I still remember a Spanish list of verbs from high school 15 years ago that were accompanied by the signs. It's expected to visually show the words. My intro video is exaggerated but I do use a lot of signs and my props are either things I had on hand or from the dollar store ;) *I will leave the disclaimer that since we foster, we have children's toys for all ages*
