200 Km im Wellenaufwind über den Alpen mit dem Silent Glider M

Ende Mai ist mir mit der genialen Konstruktion von Helmut Großklaus, dem Silent Glider M, der Welleneinstieg in über 4000 m MSL Höhe über dem Alpenhauptkamm gelungen. Von dort ging es dann im Wellenaufwind zügig weiter hoch bis fast auf 6000 m MSL. Die thermischen Hangaufwinde reichten an diesem Tag bei Füssen nur bis in eine Höhe bis ca. 2000 m MSL. Der leichte Silent Glider M mit einem speziell eingestelltem Vergaser am Hirth F33 schaffte es, zuverlässig die 2000 Höhenmeter zwischen maximaler Thermikhöhe und einsetzenden Wellenaufwinden zu überbrücken.
At the end of May, with the ingenious construction by Helmut Großklaus, the Silent Glider M, I managed to get into the waves at over 4000 m MSL above the main Alpine ridge. From there it went quickly up in the wave upwind to almost 6000 m MSL. On this day, the thermal upward winds at feet only reached a height of up to approx. 2000 m MSL. The lightweight Silent Glider M with a specially adjusted carburetor on the Hirth F33 managed to reliably bridge the 2,000 meters between maximum thermal height and the onset of wave winds.

Vielen Dank fürs Mitnehmen. Coole Aufnahmen, einfach relaxing. Einer meiner letzten Flüge vor der Corona-Pause war von Wien nach Madrid. Wolkenlos und kein (null) Verkehr über den Alpen. Ich flog so langsam wie möglich über Großglockner, Großvenediger, Bernina, Matterhorn und Montblanc. Im HDG-Mode und im Kurvenflug... leider auf FL310. War bestimmt ein lustiger Kondensstreifen (747-8). Bin früher Drachen geflogen. Sollte ich vielleicht wieder tun. Grüße aus der Schweiz. R

Der Flug ist sehr schön, die Bilder sind spektakulär. Ich war 1989 in Österreich für die Segelflug-Weltmeisterschaft, ich glaube, dass Österreich eines der schönsten Länder der Welt ist, herzlichen Glückwunsch zu den Bildern. Grüße aus Brasilien

Herzlichen Dank für dieses großartige Video. Ich bin selbst in einigen dieser Gegenden geflogen, allerdings mit C182 oder Robin Jodel. Es sind wunderschöne Erinnerungen, die sich für mich damit verbinden. Dein Fluggerät (bitte entschuldige diesen laienhaften Ausdruck) hat mich begeistert. Es scheint eine sehr gelungene Symbiose aus Flugdrachen und Motorsegler zu sein, sogar mit Einziehfahrwerk! Ich frage mich nur, wie Du mit der Kälte da oben zurecht gekommen bist.
War ein schöner Flug.Wäre auch gerne mitgekommen.
