I remember I got to meet Phil after the concert in Knoxville,TN it was in October 2000 I'll never ever forget that. He let us on the bus and had small talk I had a busted arm back then he was asking me what happened.😂😂 Phil was a very nice gentleman. Both Ricks were in their buses and Vivian and Joe stayed outside. I was soo stunned by How tall Joe is.. he is a very tall guy maybe 6'2 or 6'3 I had a tan Jacket on and I really wanted an autograph and I didn't have anything so I had them sign my jacket. 😊 It was a great show. Joan Jett and the Blackhearts was with them. The airlines lost Joan Jett equipment. So Def Leppard was nice enough to loan them the equipment so they could perform. The best part of it all as the busses was leaving I stuck my hand up in the air and Phil waved back man that was just soo much awesome 😎👍. Best of show . This is real talent. There's none like them ever. I've seen plenty of bands, but these guys are definitely a class act.
When my best friend would get in my car, she would grab my cassette tap holder and pretend she was closing her eyes to pick a “random” tape. It was always “Pour Some Sugar on Me”. I was always very organized with how I kept my music in the days of cassettes and then CD’s. But our weekends could not start until we were screaming that song in my car, including pointing at our heads and feet. 😂 Next month i invited her to watch me at a gig. (I started playing guitar a few years ago). I can’t wait, I’ve been practicing this song to dedicate to her. I’m also gonna wear ripped jeans and a Hysteria T-shirt. I’m no Phil, but I’m trying my best, and I hope to see a huge smile on her face. She saved my life back then and I’ll never be able to repay her.
@@Groosome128 thanks it ended up great I had the Hysteria clothes and she brought a bunch of friends. The audience seemed into to it. Most of all we all had fun.
I love background stories like this of Def Leppard. Yep this song when it came out, made me wish I could play the guitar. I will always be a fan and when asked who my favorite band is, I will stand up loud and proud and say Def Leppard!
Lol. You've been binging them for a whole month? I've been binging them for the past 40 years. Without a shadow of doubt one of my favorite bands. Then and now.
Please come back to Scotland you were absolutely phenomenal!! My 15 year olds first concert , 🤘🎸📣🐆💙🏴 had to leave after one Mötley song, daughter crying her eyes out😭 to catch the replacement bus to Kilmarnock and ended up stranded all night til 8am train, hindsight I wish we had stayed and seen it all ,then sat at glasgow central station til 4:30 am, biggest regret of my life, also both phones and extra charging ports flat, so no way to look for somewhere to go😫
I love how many great songs get their start from some band member just randomly noodling around on an instrument, and then somebody else in the room saying, "Whoa, what is THAT???" And had it not been for both people being at the right place at the right time, the song would have never been written. Great story! 😎
Phil you make it look easy man....❤❤.... You look in better shape than when you were in your 20's...I can't play like you, but you inspire me to be the best I can be 🤟😎🎸🔥🎤
Seen DL many times through the years. From a distance, Phil looks like he's 30. Everyone gets older but him, lol. Dude is one of the most consistent and professional players I have ever seen. Never seen him miss a note and he is a pretty physical performer. Top guy.
I saw these guys alongside Journey the same night at the Bush Stadium in St Louis Missouri in 2018. What a day! Greetings from Colombia South America!!
Just saw them in July this year. Journey, Steve Miller Band and Def Leppard. All bands sounded incredible! I’m so happy these bands are still touring as I’m a youngin so I never had a chance to see them in the 80s and 90s even if they aren’t what they used to be. It’s the closest thing I will ever get haha!
L O L I was remembering Def Leppard this morning and I was rearing this song. I walked into a quart bakery store and a lady was wearing a shirt that had the golden girls on it with Def Leppard fonts 😂
This guy is brilliant!! In the seventies i was a big Sweet fan and i sometimes imagine if Brian Connelly had of kept his shit together and not got sick and Andy Scott had of stepped back to rhythm guitar and they got Phil in on lead they could have progressed into the 80s glam rock seen and just blitz it.
Most underrated guitar player
He’s really damn good!! I think the general public might not get it but my buddies who play guitar say he’s incredible
thank you
LOVE your singing voice😮😱❤️
Under rated? He is highly rated bru
Yup I'm still waiting for the G3 release. I heard he was surprisingly good.
Hysteria was a massive hit during my teen years, fantastic album
Omg…mine too!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤
It's still a massive hit to me now in my 20s lol
That's nice to know *slow clap*

One of the greatest songs Def Leppard ever recorded. Phil is an extremely underrated guitar player. He doesn't get the recognition he deserves.
this has been my favorite song for more than forty five years. I play it in my car whenever I drive.

Massive hit indeed. I loved that funky stump groove of the drums.
He kept up with Joe Satriani on tour. Badass.
I’ve been binging these cats for at least a month

Some may have contributed a lyric or two but you guys made it. One of your greats.❤️🙏
Always tasteful in his note choices. An incredible guitarist, BUT knows to do with what he has also. Knows when to play and when not to. Pro level.
