@melissabrume7515 Not stupid at all. i hate how people criticize everything too. it's the downside of social media. Some people want to ruin others enjoyment. Maybe it makes them feel better about their own lives.
Incredible! “Test the spirits”. There are only two kingdoms; Empire that rules by force. And Shalom, that calls to it’s flock as a Shepard does. They choose to answer to his voice.
I believe when the band commented on this song, they were examining the great doubt Islam's prophet Mohammed was experiencing while he was alone in the cave. When he had the dream about Gabriel the Angel telling him his destiny as a prophet, he doubted himself and thought it might be evil spirits. This song does some very cool interpretive storytelling.
Mike Turner Muhammad had doubts in the religion and beliefs of his people but we was in no doubt that what he saw and experienced in the cave was real. The Meccans ( Muhammad’s people) had a religion which was a aging form of the monotheistic religion of Abraham (a one that existed before Judaism) and it had partially sunk through ages into polytheism and paganism until the day of Muhammad but some features of the original monotheistic religion remained. Muhammad’s first encounter with Gabriel was not described by Muhammad as a dream... he described it and felt it as real. the angels first words to him was a verse of the Quran which orders him to “read” (after the angel) in the name of the lord who created (mankind)....Muhammad (probably in shock) replied back ( i am not someone who knows how to read) . The angel squeezed him until he got tired and then released him and repeated this act 3 times. Muhammad was then able to speak after the angel the rest of the verses until the end of the first sura in Quran. He was then released by the angel to go home. Muhammad when released went home shaking and scared of what he had experienced and saw but it appeared all real to him not a dream.
@@mohamedkaddah306 many Meccans were monophysite nasranis (early Christians) who were monotheistic but did not consider jesus christ to be God, but rather the holy son of God, a human. furthermore, Zoroastrians were monotheistic way before Arabs.
@IngramCecilConnor. I agree with you there, but honestly think that a lot of the 'negativity' comes from people deep down knowing they could be putting out stuff like this and like on the first three albums material if they only stuck to this psych/shoegaze sound. So much potential and should be bigger than they are.

In reality Muhammad and his friend were not the only two travelers in the desert during Hijrah, they had an experienced guide with them as they followed unusual desert paths when they fled to Madina to avoid being followed by head hunters.
Recently discovered this band, it makes kicking the OX and falling off the horses forever bearable & beautiful 🤯. One nano second at a time to infinity. Thank you for being my companion whilst micro/macro dosing myself back to me🙃
Again and again. I get up and say, I only want to get it right I only want to do the right thing, but all these demons harrass my soul I won't be today, I'm alone again. No one can make that alive, no one can say they're better not when, all this freedom you get is a lie.
The beginning of the clip is captivating. Two men moving through the desert 🐪 🐪 . I guess these two are Muhammad and his friend and companion Abu Baker...the first man to believe in him....the clip follows them during the event of the hijra or migration to yethreb (al madina) ....Muhammad and his friend in that day were divinely saved as he escaped from an assassination plot at the hands of many tribes who had a plan to kill him and silence him forever by many hands in one blow (same as the assassination of Julius Ceaser) to dissipate later retaliations that may rise in Muhammad’s tribe. Muhammad’s Hijrah is a significant event and a game changer in the history of Islam.
This is great (as usual, by the Dandy's). At some points during play I am reminded of the Crash Test Dummies - Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm. Maybe it's just that I've heard so many songs in my life that now they are melding together.
I wonder what Islamic fundamentalists would make of this sensual work? Would they find something to feel mortally offended about it and issue a fatwa against you? I'm not saying this out of malice, I'm just playing devil's advocate that's all.
I'm Muslim, proud of it and the dandys will certainly goes to Heaven with me to have made this song great and dedicated to our prophet Muhammad. Dandys are believers and that’s why their songs are awesome. What a Noble piece of Music they’ve made.
Keep putting your comments. But, they come before mine, because you didn't worship 'the spirit'. You wanted temporary. I would hate you. But, it's best I pray for you!
Ok, you have the primary Em - D - A chord progression, plodding tempo and same mood but other than that it’s not the same song. John Cope has a lot more going on in the way of harmonic tension and progression and the vocal melody is totally different. In general, Courtney’s influences are obvious but he has always had his own voice and, the similarities notwithstanding, has produced a uniquely creative and prolific body of work. In short, he has confidently and unabashedly taken all his influences and made them his own. Here, the thematic melody played by the guitar, the meandering trumpet and especially the vocal melody set this tune apart. I love Talk Talk and their song but personally I like Courtney’s melody better over these changes (strictly personal preference), and the falsetto on the 13 Tales version is just fucking stellar.
@@robertjones5258 It's very easy to sit in the peanut gallery and issue shallow judgements like, "it's a rip-off," without having done significant similar type of work or fully understanding the issue. The correct term would be a "derivative work." A court of law may indeed find this to be such. That would be for them to decide and we don't know if Courtney licensed the right to create a derivative work. My guess is probably not and there could be some liability there but I'm sure Capitol's legal team looks out for this type of exposure. Indeed, Courtney's own creative contributions to the original (the aforementioned vocal melody and theme, among others) are copyrightable within a derivative work itself, and they are certainly copyrighted by him in the form of his composition. For our purposes here you may want to refer to the following: www.legalzoom.com/articles/what-are-derivative-works-under-copyright-law. The fact is, rock chord progressions and even the 'feel' of a song have been recycled again and again over decades. It's kind of hard not to when using the standard Rock chord progressions and voicings on the guitar, but it can also be intentional. Since Mr. Taylor-Taylor seems to be more of a conceptual artist it wouldn't surprise me. There are many examples where songwriters have allegedly plagiarized other artists - George Harrison, Jimmy Page and others. Whether they meant to or not, only they know (or knew, in the case of Mr. Harrison). But we still get to enjoy the music, regardless (I mean, you're in here obviously listening to the songs, too...is that just to pick out the "rip-offs" and pass judgement in your omnipotence?) and give credit for creativity where it's due. Also, as I mentioned previously, the Dandys song only borrows the base elements of the Talk Talk song, the latter of which has a more involved chord progression and arrangement. But there are a lot of factors we don't know here. Still, Mr. Taylor-Taylor has had a successful 25-year career as the main songwriter for a popular band on a major label with a dedicated worldwide fan base. I think he's got a bit more talent than...what's the old term...a "rip-off artist." And with that, I'm done here.
I hate how people criticize everything. I think this song is beautiful.
