I heartily agree with Andre below. I really do love Gary’s work, and pleasant teaching manner, he seems a very kind gentleman as well. I love painting water colours and aspire to this kind of standard. Thank you Gary, you’re a gentleman.

This was so timely for me. I am now practicing my mixes and blends so that I have cards as a reference(s). I don’t get to paint very often and the cards help steer me to creating lively shadows which tie to the scene’s colors. Thank you for this demo!!

I've total beginner in watercolors and I have been lost in choosing colors. Thank you for this excercise. At least now I know that these 4 colors i already thought to buy work together. Thank you so much for your teaching

Reetta, thank you for your message, color can be confusing which is one reason I usually begin with a single color and progress to a limited palette - 4 colors. Not only is it easier but the painting is almost always stronger.

Just a note that shysart have changed their site, so that you get a 404/page not found error for the winged palette...you have to go to the home page, and select from a drop down menu at the upper right of the page...and, of course, thanks for this nice, focused exercise!

Nice to see you at last Gary! Thanks for that useful tip on knowing your colours. Sometimes we're a bit too random in colour choice. I, at least, need to be aware of how my colour choices behave.
