  • Written by Alex Garland and directed by Danny Boyle, 28 Days Later is a post-apocalyptic horror film that follows a group trying to survive the aftermath of the “Rage Virus” in the UK. A virulent, bloodborne pathogen that sends its hosts into a state of extreme, uncontrollable rage.
    Paying homage to classic zombie films like George Romero's Dawn of the Dead, British sci-fi novels such as The Day of the Triffids, and the Resident Evil games, 28 days later is an unrelenting horror and fascinating study of morality during a time of crisis.

      just have access to warehouse, reinforce the windows with brick and mortar, remove all outside access points and try to grab a generator or two
      bonus points if you can land a store with water and snacks; go back to main hideout and wait it out; dehydration is the infected(s) worst nightmare as it will slow them down a lot as their muscles turn into jerky after a week of no water

      In our reality with zombies, people would start be swift and witty on how what protective stuff that you can find in your house.. Basically the setup that prisoners use to not get shanked would work well here. Besides ruining any chances of full movement, your typical magazines could held shield arms, legs, stomachs and backs.. If you wanted to take it a set farther with flexible movement, hopefully you have pads laying around or a sports store close by.. Hockey and Lacrosse body padding would cover about 60% of your torso with the ability to elbow these suckers to death. Shin pads for soccer, work gloves, hockey neck guards, police padding all could go a long way to cover cuts and skin.

      How is this more logical? Both type of zombies have tons of logic to them... This compared to TWD types really seem far off... It seems like these zombies can starve to death and just collapse from not eating brains and organs.. That alone along with how you can put 2-3 bullets in them and they stay down vs just head shots makes for a pretty unrealistic zombie invasion. TWD can have all their shit torn out, head chopped off, sitting at the bottom of a 100 ft lake and still be alive due to it’s virus that basically gives the world a curse to stay alive at all cost under the most intense situations.. They don’t need to eat to growl and to move inch by inch towards you... 28 Days Later they need that and a machine gun would take care of large amounts due to not needing to make head shots to put them down. You obviously never seen homeless people where they are living off of 10% calories per month while they continue to waste away in drugs.

      @@philippebien5429 TWD zombies are dead bodies so once they die rigormortis sets in and the myriad of other processes that happen when the body starts breaking down so realistically the bodies from the walking dead wouldn't be able to even be capable of chasing anyone past a few hours. 28 days infected are still alive when they are infected and a the virus was made with actual diseases that can spread in the actual way via the symptoms of the ebola used as the delivery. Yes their metabolism is crazy and they would burn out fast that is essentially what happened in the sequel and is explained that most of the infected starved and burned out it was only til the events of the second movie because of human error and judgment the virus sprouted up again. It's better than just finding out that everyone is infected you just have to die. So no 28 days later is definitely there likely candidate to happen rather than the dead comming back.

    28 Days Later is probably the best "zombie" movie of all time. The cast, the music, the symbolism, and especially the cinematography. Even though it was filmed on "lower quality" cameras, if anything that enhances the movie. I feel like if you made this same movie but with perfect visuals, all shiny and spotless, it just wouldn't be the same. That grainy/grungy aesthetic is part of what makes it so great.

    The biggest issue i have is the incubation period of this virus. Its impossible for a virus to replicate itself billions of times to take over a person's body in 30 seconds without having to break the laws of physics.
    The infection is often compared to Rabies, but even Rabies takes weeks even months in some cases before it becomes deadly and symptoms manifest.
    Ebola takes days to do its damage as well.
    The rage is uncontrollable, I disagree, a large dose of MDMA which floods the brain with Serotonin that might work because it's effects involve the Limbic System.

      Exactly, there’s no possible way a virus can spread in your body at such at a rapid rate, the only explanation is that the people who are currently vaccinated already have the virus in them,and once they release the next virus or signal they’ll turn into zombies in seconds because it’s already in them ready to activate
      Now as for the unvaccinated who get infected there’s 2 options how they’ll turn
      1. They already have small amounts of the virus in them via being near the vaccinated, so they’ll still end up turning within a few minutes, possibly seconds as well
      2. It takes days for them to turn

At the end a group was clearly re effective and that grew until it got out and went to other parts of Europe.. Unless if they show what happened right there and then post the scene when the Eiffel Tower in France was shown? There’s no point, the population dwindled down until every none sick person could wait it out for those things to starve, or else the cycle continues more or less.. The end.

    I'd actually watched 28 weeks later before this one. I stumbled on it on TV. It was in the part where (no spoilers) the dad was fleeing the farm house in the beginning. I had watched Night of the Living Dead because it was a classic, but I thought zombies were, well, stupid. That's just now how biology works. Until I saw the scene mentioned previously. Like Nyet explains, zombies hadn't been fast before. And these weren't zombies. It was more plausible. I had finally seen a movie that gave me a deep, primal fear. Unfortunately, since then I have recurrent nightmares of being chased and having to hide from the Rage people in the 28 Days/Weeks series. I know it's irrational, but tell that to my brain.

I thought it was intentionally done to show that you can get small GLIMPSES into what the infection does to people psychologically, it’s not that they CANT speak (the virus is not known to damage vocal chords) it’s that they’re in such a state of rage that speaking isn’t even a thought (they’re primal instincts overpowering human thought) but perhaps in a state where an infected is overpowered like the boy, the ‘I hate you’ seems to be blurted out randomly…….. that to me makes it even creepier

    Definitely one of my two favourite zombie films. The other being 28 weeks.
    I love how quick the infected turn. How aggressive they are. It’s plausible that they could overrun the army unlike the walking dead zombies where it can take a whole damn day to turn and even then they aren’t much of a threat because of how slow they are.

    • @philippebien5429
      @philippebien5429 Před 2 lety

      Yeah it depends on where they bite you in TWD for you to turn faster. There where more than plenty of times people would change within minutes post bite marks and if you where well and alive but tripped and broke your neck, you would turn within a minute the very least so meaning a whole group of people dying at once would turn into a mob of zombies without bit marks and quick transitional period. I don’t know why you think zombies that can go down on 2-3 shots per body vs TWD that needs a head shot or else they will keep crawling to you and such.. You could literally cut the heads off 28 Days Later and they die or die from a lack of blood it seems meanwhile in TWD you could cut the heads of 20k zombies and their bodies will still be moving along with their face/mouths that can still make people turn. Dropping a nuke wouldn’t even kill 80% of TWD type of zombies, I really don’t see why you think the army would have a easier time with them but not these things that can go down easily without head shots meaning you can burn them alive, can’t do that in TWD though

    • @MR.ICE.
      @MR.ICE. Před 2 lety

      @@philippebien5429
      The army would have a way easier time because they’re slow and dumb. On top of that, it’s not about where they bite you. Dr. Jenner said in season 1 that the longest it can take someone to turn is 8 hours after a bite.
      That’s more than enough time to react. Where as in 28 days/weeks later, it takes at the longest, 10 seconds. And in those films, it depends on how much infected blood you’re exposed to. For instant, Frank in 28 days had a single drop of blood in his eye and it took him 1 minuet to turn.
      1 minuet compared to 8 hours.
      And while yeah, the zombies from TWD can only go down with head shots, that means nothing when they move so slow that it’s nearly as easy as hitting a non moving target.
      The biggest threat for TWD is that everyone is infected and will turn at some point but we’ve seen the characters in the show discover this and now it’s no longer an issue. When someone tries, you destroy the brain.
      Slow, predictable zombies vs extremely agile and fast infected? I know which the army would have a harder time dealing with.
