- Ice Cube spoke with ET in 1991 about ‘Boyz n the Hood’ and how the movie reflected his experience growing up in Compton. In this interview, the rapper praised John Singleton’s critically-acclaimed film for accurately portraying life in South L.A. in the early ‘90s. He opened up about how his father kept him ‘on the right path’ when he was a kid. With his first son, O’Shea Jackson Jr., having just been born at the time, the N.W.A. performer revealed how the movie’s themes were influencing his mindset about being a new father.

🤔🤔 I wonder why they go out of their way to Place South Central as when the general south-central vicinity is the middle part of Los Angeles centered and Compton is southeast. Could it be to tie in and underline the stereotypes of certain sections to heighten the degree of perspective of a person's background? South Central and Compton are separate yet both have their own forms of intense environments.
Yeah, it's "those other people's faults" that those parts of LA used to be a war zone. There is definitely NO responsibility placed upon the people who lived there and made it such.
