I am a one who don't care about dinosaurs since I don't collect them.
But I really love the Gyrosphere platform! Because it gives wide space, it is perferct set to add right into Jurrasic park space(something like Jang city), or add little modification and use it for other theme. I love those kind of sets with large space to put minifigs, for same reason I like 75171 Battle on Scarif set.
Anyway I love the build so much and I might purchase platform build only on Bricklink

I can’t pretend that this wouldn’t be really fun to play with as a kid. A lot of sets have builds that don’t exactly have jumping off points to imaginative play. Everything in this set can easily be expanded upon pretty organically.

Actually the design of the gyrosphere has changed since the last one, the seat on the inside is done differently than the seats in the previous gyrosperes. Nobody seems to notice this, though I would say that there’s not a very large audience that’s actually paying a lot of attention to this theme so it’s very understandable.
Awesome video nonetheless! This channel is definetely up there with my favourites on the entire platform!

  • @NickonPlanetRipple
    @NickonPlanetRipple Před 4 lety +11

One thing I appreciate is how built-up the Ankylosaurus is. Sure, it's only slightly more involved than lego's other recent dinos (and it's nowhere near as brick built as that Venom T-Rex), but it's about on-par with the ones they made in 2001. The more pieces it takes to build a lego dinosaur, the better I say!

I had fun building this set but I personally believe the $100 was too much. $80 seems more reasonable to me if I’m being honest. I do love the Gyrosphere station and might do a couple of modifications to it for my Jurassic World theme park project. Also I love the inclusion of the Ankylosaurus as herbivores are needed for this theme.
Would love to see an Apatosaurus or even Brachiosaurus in the future. There are a lot of dinosaurs in the Jurassic franchise that can be created for LEGO and even scenes that can be created as sets. Maybe they could even do a legacy line apart from Jurassic World that includes scenes from the original Jurassic triology.

Did you notice that the Claire Dearing minifigure's torso is different from the original?
The original minifigure's torso is open, and you can see her purple sleeveless shirt underneath.
This new one shows her before she gets ruffled up later in the movie.
In other words, the original is her when she's running through the forest, and the new one is her when she meets with Owen at his cabin.
Just thought I'd say that since you said that there was no difference in the video.
    But great video!
I always like how you really break down the sets in your videos!

Me and my brother love collecting and playing with these sets. Though we do really like the dinosaurs, we have learned to look for good main builds also, because after a few days there isn’t much to play with other than the dinos themselves. Even though we are probably part of the minority, we do appreciate the complete build that came with this set. There are almost no main buildings for the figures themselves, so something like this would be awesome to have.

I feel like, since most people seem to only want the Dinos anyway, it would be better if LEGO just made a regular license free Dinosaur Theme, that would be a bit cheaper than the Jurassic World sets. They certainly have enough Dinosaur molds for a standalone series by now. I mean there are still dinosaurs missing, like the stegosaurus but unfortunally as long as LEGO does only do Jurassic World Dinosaur sets, we wont see the Stego most likely, since it wasn't in the movies much if at all.

You should definitely make a part of your zoo Jurassic Park-esque

If LEGO decides to make sets of the CC series, they could make Sinoceratops (just need to replace de Triceratops head) and Parasaurolophus.

    Lego should sell dinosaurs individually

I think I prefer the rotation in the wrists and the slightly less secure grip over the new one

I wonder how this looks next to the “ruined” gyrosphere station from the 2018 Fallen kingdom line

My copy of his set is arriving later today and I'm really looking forward to it! I'm so happy to be getting my favorite Dinosaur in LEGO and I plan to pick up Wu's lab when it is available where I am to have the baby to go with it. The Ankylosaurus looks so great! My only complaint with it is the hollow head and lack of articulation in the head but considering the real creature had little movement in the head and you can't see the hollow space from most angles, it's not too big of a deal. I really hope they do more sets that are actually scenes from the movies. It's so weird and frustrating to me that so much of this theme is made-up stuff nobody asked for. I understand that kids love vehicles but there are so many vehicles in the films LEGO hasn't ever done that would be great for the line! I hope we get more park buildings though as I would love to start my own little Jurassic Park/World. Sets like this do make me nostalgic for park sims like Zoo Tycoon's Dino expansion and the Jurassic World game among others.

I like your voice, you sound like you could be a voice actor. Good review as well!

The only thing I wished you could have done, you mentioned the Ankylo is built differently, and I wish you could have taken it apart to show how it's made, because I get the feeling that the main body part could be useful for custom builds and even if they want to release other quadrupedal dinosaurs in future.

Now this is a Jurassic set I can get behind. Always sorta wanted the indominus but didn't care for the last set it came in. Love the gyrosphere station though. Will definitely pick this up eventually but I would have liked to see it at $85 or so. Probably going to hold out for a discount but if that doesn't happen I'll still buy this
