I gotta admit I kinda had this romantic idea that they'd let the cute butterflies fly away to green pastures ..

Aww, I do not like silk items, but I never knew they had to kill the bugs. We need the butterflies 🦋

i wonder why the worms had to be killed.. Couldn't we have found a way to let the worm survive while extracting the cocoon?

“The threads undergo a cleaning process to remove impurities, remnants of cocoons and any other unwanted substances…..like caterpillar bodies” I mean, don’t get me wrong, they live a pretty good life up until the cocoon phase, but how the hell do they get the body out of the cocoon? I feel like I may be missing a step here

If you mean how the workers remove the worm inside a cocoon, my guess is that it comes out naturally. A cocoon is basically a worm wrapped with long thread of silk. Unwrapping the silk and the body is automatically revealed.

So you kill millions of lil harmless creatures in a horrific way just so someone can wear a piece of clothing. 😢 It's about time silk was banned along with fur products. I've never worn or bought silk products and never will. 🤬

You can't even afford a real silk product, lol. Now throw away your phone, stop using public transportation or your car, switch off all electricity in your home, especially the AC units, move into the woods, build your own hut and shut up. Jeez. Was für'n dummschwätzender Weltverbesserer und Traumtänzer, lieber Himmel.
