    Is there any chance you could do problems 4-71, 4-104, 4-121, 4-150, and 4-151 from the Statics 14 edition By Hibbler? If not, could you do problems similar to those please?

    isnt it that the Fy value should already be in negative?? because the direction of the force is going down. so it should be in negative. plugging it in the summation of forces should be -(-60)...right??? correct me if im wrong.

    Why fy is not negative when it goes downward? Is it unecessary to consider?

    Why isn't it (-60*5)-(-80*2) for an answer of -140?

      It depends what your lecturer prefers as to refer clockwise negative or positive
      Same for anticlockwise

    I still didn't get how you change the sign to negative

    • @f4th14
      @f4th14 Před 7 lety +7

      it's because when the force hits it, it moves clockwise and clockwise direction is regarded as negative (wheras counter-clockwise is positive)

      Alex Morales wdym signed it counterclockwise first? As in the symbol before the sum of moment (sigma Mo)? That’s just marking the sign convention which he’ll be using (in this case, counterclockwise is positive)
