    Good stuff!
    In treating the F as the root in the A minor scale means you're playing around in the Lydian mode, which really highlights the "epic" feeling of the chords. In particular, the chords with just the F in the bass and the 3rd and the 5th highlights this best because the second bar has the B featured prominently, and B is the note that brings the Lydian feel (B is the 4th note in F Lydian, which is raised by one sharp).

      Exactly, great tips for those who don’t know this, thanks for sharing. 🙌
      I aim to avoid musical terminology because it causes more confusion sometimes. But awesome for this who was to read in to the comments 🙂

      I was going to ask: "Why F?"
      Lydian makes sense.

    I love learning something new and I did with that whole tone change. Knowing why it sounded different not just accepting it sounds different.. I find using melody packs like you sell really help broaden my options. Transposing the scale to A minor, changing the notes, patterns experimenting what sounds better/different can really open the door to something I'd never make on my own. After I've made the melody I transpose to a scale I think sounds best playing in. Anyone struggling with chords and melodies use a melody pack and rearrange the notes. It's amazing what you can discover

      Midi is always there to inspire new ideas. Sound design plays a bigger role than people realise. That a velocity to help provoke some emotion and depth. 👍🏻

    Love your work mate! Chords structures are thing i struggle with the most! Mixing and even sound design is generally where i put most of energy, i've never really put major focus on the chord structure till this year(never had any formal music training at all)

      @tredfxman Před 2 lety +2

      Had this problem myself before. All i can say is just keep practising & listening to other melodies & train your ears to hear what notes fit. I make songs (Trance etc) in Bitwig, so if you like check my channel out!

    Amazing mate!!!!! Please bring on more. One question. This sound alone it is perfect. But when we move to the climax / drop section of the song where we have kick/bass/drums ettc. How do you alter the sound? Do you change the chords ( maybe removing the lower octaves ) or appy and high pass eq?

    • @demishellen
      @demishellen  Před 2 lety +1

      Really depends on what you want it to sound like. For example keep the melody right to the drop, others drop to the first chord on repeat. Hi pass, volume changes, increase of reverb... the possibilities are totally up to how you want it to sound.

    • @demishellen
      @demishellen  Před 2 lety +2

      There will be similar sounds in my other packs. The release on this preset is long for you can adapt a similar sounding preset with a longer release and a good reverb plugin for the space.

    Nice vid but Im' not sure the visual approach is the good method to explain things to beginners ;)
    1) Changing the bass, you basically went from F-G-Am to Dm-Em-F, reason why it's so drastically different.
    2) Removing the middle note just makes chords "untyped", not major, not minor. Great technique to bring air and add a special flavor to melodies. But again, it's difficult to explain this visually.
