- Mt Kilimanjaro is Africa's tallest mountain. Mt. Kilimanjaro stands at 19,341 ft or 5,895 m above sea level. Hiking up Kilimanjaro is non-technical and is relatively safe. Mt. Kilimanjaro offers several routes to the summit. We took the Machame route and summited on day 5 and completed our trip in 6 days total. Kilimanjaro offers incredible scenery of mountains, wild life, and plants/trees found nowhere else in the world.
We began our Kilimanjaro climb by leaving the Machame gate, hiking through the rainforest, and making our way to Machame camp. On day 2, we begin our ascent towards Shira Cave camp. Along the way we were afforded some great views of Mt. Meru. Day 3 took us to Lava Tower for acclimatization. After we spent an hour or so there, we headed down to Baranco camp. The next morning, day 4, we ascended the 900 ft Baranco wall where we were greeted with an incredible sunrise and spectacular up close views of Kilimanjaro. From there we made our way to Barafu camp, where we got a few hours of sleep before leaving for the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro just before midnight. On the morning of day 5, we made our way to the summit where we were once again greeted with an awe-inspiring sunrise. There's nothing quite like an African sunrise from 19,000 ft! We eventually made our way back down to camp and moved further down the mountain to Mweke camp. The morning of day 6 led us to the Mweke gate where we wrapped up the adventure!

You guys make it look so easy. Lol. I climbed mt. Massive in Colorado at 14,400ish and thought I was going to die. Lol. Nicely done! Great video.
Haha thank you so much and thanks for watching! Congrats on Massive. It’s never easy being at altitude. It’s always interesting at elevation, just never sure how you’ll respond each time. We did Mt. Elbert back in September last year and kept looking over at Mt. Massive wishing we would’ve had time to do it as well.
Cool! Is it good to do it in rainy season like May? :)
We haven’t done it in rainy season, but there would certainly be a lot less people on the mountain! Thanks for watching!
Thanks!
Way to crush it💪🏻🏔️🏔️
Thank you so much!!
Great video, my partner and I are climbing Kili in January 2025. My main worry is attitude sickness, any tips to train for this.
There’s really not a ton you can do training wise to prepare for altitude, unless you live somewhere where you can get to higher altitudes of course. Staying hydrated is very important and will help tremendously. There are also some supplements that claim to help, such as ginkgo, that you can find on a quick google search. Don’t know how much validity there is to that. Best of luck to you! Thanks for watching!
@@marriedmountaineers thank you for replying. Will be sure to watch the rest of your videos. Looks like you have both had one hell of an adventure. Look forward to more. Best of luck
