@@ClashClash89 I'm gonna chime in X years too late, but: in the US the cutlery sets sold don,t have teaspoons. They have tablespoons ("big", 15ml) and dessert spoons (which would technically be "middle" 10ml spoons, not "small"). So their debate isn't even for big vs small, it,s big vs medium.

I seem to remember Gavin saying at one point that he finds the act of eating annoying because it interrupts what ever he's doing. Totally makes sense he would want to get as much food into him as fast as possible so he can be done with eating.

It may be different in America, the small spoon is just for stiring tea/coffee, that's where the name is from. Medicine, yoghurt and ice cream are the other exceptions. Everything else is the table spoon. That is the regular spoon. Unless you have a specific spoon like a soup, coffee, ice cream or desert spoon that is the normal one

This is the way. Some people though feel more enlightened and want to eat their food slowly to savour it for longer, and so rather then try getting smaller spoonfuls or sucking up less per spoonful, they opt for the smaller spoon. Then there are smaller people with smaller mouths, they use smaller spoons because they physically cannot. To these people, the smaller spoon is their normal, but it isn't the normal for society.

Use the names. That's where a lot of the confusion comes from.
There's tea spoons, soup spoons, tablespoons and, most critically, dessert spoons. Dessert spoons are the middle ground, and ideal for most uses.

In American silverware sets they typically do not name the spoons or Forks that way. They will just say two small spoons, two big spoons, two small forks and two big forks.
We also have measuring spoons which are teaspoons and tablespoons but there is no direct correlation between those sizes and the ones we use in our silverware. So referring to what we normally get to use as dinner spoons as tablespoons or teaspoons is inherently confusing.

One of the few RT Podcast moments we can point to where Gus of all people is the 1000% wrong lunatic; I've never heard him take a more bizarrely un-American, un-consumerist position hahaha. If you reach for a teaspoon to eat your ice cream or cereal you should renounce your citizenship... I don't think I've owned a teaspoon for 15 years, and in the majority of households they're NEVER put on the dinner tables before you eat. -only ever used for measuring teaspoons in recipes or MAYBE for stirring hot bevs.
*Go to luxury restaurants, who routinely offer customers too much of everything, and you're likely to spot one on the table... along with another fork you don't need either. -it's still highly likely to go unused unless wait staff literally serves you something with the spoon sticking out of it, or sitting on the new plate they're bringing you.

The spoon on the left (B's right) is the correct spoon.
"Normal" means whichever spoon you have more of and use when people come over. Like when you set the table, which spoons come out the most? Unless it's a perfect 50/50 split, one spoon is the outlier and is thus the "different" spoon.
Another way to think of it is that the "normal" spoon could also be seen as the "middling" spoon, the spoon that is satisfactory to the most amount of people. Young, old, big, or small everyone can utilize the spoon on the left. Whereas the only people who can comfortably use the bigger spoon are adults and bigger people.
