- You know the Beer Summit of 2016? Call it the Horse Summit on May 2 at Churchill Downs on the backstretch as a bunch of members of the Kentucky House of Representatives, both Republican and Democrat, came out to watch the Kentucky Derby and Oaks horses train. Mike Repole, co-owner of Kentucky Derby favorite Forte, spoke to the group. Loren Hebel-Obsborne -- wife of House Speaker David Osborne, who breed and own race horses - served as tour guide and Repole's interviewer. (Repole set the bar high for Wednesday, when we're told members of the Kentucky Senate will be out on the backstretch).

I'd like to hear what Mike's plans are for supporting retired race horses.
I don’t believe he said anything about horse welfare, being responsible for all of the horses bred. I just heard money, money, money.
@@sareight well he didn’t speak about it here. And he didn’t say anything about the foals that are unraced or unnamed.
If he wants to produce more foals, he needs a plan for the lives of those that do not become racehorses or don’t even succeed at racing. How many horses get into the OTTB programs, which by the way I think are excellent. Producing more foals is not the same as producing more race cars, which I am sure you know. (I will look up the link you posted)
And I am referring to all of the horses bred.
I have just read the article and I agree with everything Mike did and said. My point is still there needs to be an innovative plan for the welfare of all of the horses bred. And maybe Mike could champion that.
@@kayeroskaft9619 Why would he have needed to talk about it in this particular video??
@@kayeroskaft9619 EXACTLY. MY POINT EXACTLY!!
@@sareight Because if he is gonna say no caps on horse breeding, more horses more horses, more horses then he has to have a plan that is better for the horses than being vanned to Canada for horse meat. There were no tough questions here and overall I like Mike but if he is gonna be a face of the game and with his pockets he needs not only a plan but to be at the forefront of that plan. Mike referenced Ferdinand here the 1986 Kentucky Derby Winner who ended up in a slaughterhouse in Japan. Now THAT IS A PROBLEM
What is the innovative answer to the unraced and unnamed foals? Where are they?
EXACTLY. He is treating the animals as only a commodity. He talked money money money but not the welfare of the sport.
Guy has all the horses, and all the money. National model, gag me. The industry is in trouble! Hello Mike, did not hear you say one thing about the racing fan at the rail. Not one thing, oh no fans left!
He did a podcast with Jonathan recently. (Jk+1) His vision is what racing needs.
No one cares about the rail birds , shut up
You are born to run we believe on you forte good luck ❤️
Has Repole's view changed any " post " Ky. Derby?
Hes wearing that Uncle Mo Jacket. I just get the feeling Kingsbarns the son of Uncle Mo may beat his horse Forte.
He owned uncle mo… that’s why he’s wearing the jacket
