Captain Reason if you are using facial motion capture, that all goes of shapekeys as the value are between 0 and 1. It also allows you to set the extremes of the face

Afterwards I imagine you want to hook up drivers to have the teeth and body mesh shape keys adjust with single slider. I do have to wonder how and if shape keys work in game engines.

I found your video. I'm happy. Is it possible to apply this in the case when the animation of the face is recorded using shape keys, but it needs to be transferred to the dice for the game?

Does Auto Rig Pro allow you to add onto the rig the auto generate for your character? If my character has cat ears and a tail will Auto Rig be able to rig those extra body parts OR can extra bones be added to the Auto Rig's armature?

It's quite a grunt work to apply armature modificator and then reapply and reset all again... but definetly a good tip I didn't know.
Claudio Hernández I agree. Technically you can do it with out it, just create a shapekey, go into edit mode, and move the mesh around.
All you have to do is click copy on the modifier then apply it. The apply buttons only do things with the one you clicked, ignoring all others.
@Markom3D I clicked dislike. I thought you were going to show something I didn't know (based on the title). Only thing I didn't know was why you'd want to apply the bone deformation when you already have the bones.
Maybe what the description is saying, is it's for like when you want to export somewhere that can't handle the bones (like SFM) but it would still be useless for me then.
Can you do a video on rigging clothes? I've been having trouble with adjusting weight groups using the data transfer modifier for rigging cloth meshes onto armatures. I'd like to know your method/ technique please.

Great video but I've run into a problem. Applying the armature modifier as a shape key does't save the information in my mesh. When moving the values of the shape key between 0 and 1 the mesh does't move. Do you know why could this be?

How to deal with shape keys affecting both, body and teeth?
So you can join the mesh and if you have the same shape key names for both meshes, then they will merge

I have a question. It seems that you have created two separated shape keys: one for the body and the second the tooth.
Is there a way so that it would create one shape key for moving the body and teeth?
When I export now the model to Unity, skinned mesh renderer will have a BlendShape that moves face body, but the tooth will be left aside because they have their own, separate skinned mesh renderer with a BlendShape.
Hey, yes you can join the meshes and then have the one shapekey for the character. It was more to show that if you had multiple meshes, there are extra steps
@@Markom3D But how to do this? If I select two meshes like body + teeth and then I pick the option: "Apply as shape keys", it only adds shape keys to the last selected object, not both of them.
@@XboxPlayerPL correct. Thats why you need to do them individually. You cant do it at the same time
@@Markom3D Here is the thing. I have a face mesh and separate mesh teeth. When I applied: "Apply as shape keys" to the face mesh, it created shape keys for the face mesh, but it didn't for teeth. So, when I use the shape keys to control mouth opening, the teeth do not follow. I need to apply "Apply as shape keys" to the teeth as well. But I would like to have only one shape key on face mesh which affects the teeth also. So, when I slide shape keys to open the mouth on face mesh, I would like so that it affects shape keys on teeth as well.
Really liked the video, but one question : wouldn't it be a lot easier to just use the pose library instead of shape keys? Or are there some kind of benefits to doing it with shape keys? I always get the feeling that too many shape keys can slow down blender
What I can do with these shape keys is attach it to mocap data and have the controlled by drivers

yeah, thats the whole point of shape keys. Create as many as you want
hi, can you make a video of adding .bvh to non-rigged model? or maybe should we rig`em and then retarget with BVH or not, etc. In both cases I don`t get good results. It rigs but some parts of the mesh are still, weight paint doesn`t help, I`ve got so many bvh files but none of those works fine, although I`m placing every bone where it should be, I think, so I don`t know what`s wrong

I have my upper and lower teeth parented correctly but my armature doesn't give me the option to apply shape key separately to lower jaw after applying to the mesh..... is there a simple solution I am missing?
you need to re add the armature modifier and then you can apply it again. MAKE SURE that you reset the pose
but wouldn't this cause my mouth to close everytime it blinked because when you applied the armature as shapekey with your eyes closed your mouth was closed?
Does it still work in 3.5.1? Cuz shape keys do transfer. But they do nothing. =\

why do you use shape key if you use rigify rig? what am i missing?
so the main reason for this is when I am using my iphone for facial motion capture, the data is converted into shapekeys on another model. I just need to hook up the drivers, and BAM

I was ok with this tut until you started adding armatures. That don't make sense. Don't you have one armature that was created when you created the rig?
